  1. Defense Melvin Ingram #6. Senoir SEASON TOT SOLO AST SACK FF INT YDS AVG LNG TD PD 2011 44 28 16 8.5 0 2 8 4 5 0 0 He was named 1st team All American today. Should be a first round draft pick (5-10) next year. He's also scored 3 TD's this year, including a 67 yd run off a fake punt. Ok huskers, who are your guys? I'll post more at a later date. It would be cool to see a similar thread at cockytalk.com if somebody wants to start it, or I could just post this link there....
  2. For the past few weeks, since we've kind of known who USC was going to be playing I've been watching a little film on Nebraska (thanks youtube). I had the idea in another thread where we could post vids of players on each side to serve as video bios so when game-time comes we have an idea of the players on both sides. I guess the idea is when the name/number of an opposing player is called, we'll have a better idea of who that player is. Should make watching the game more interesting. I'll start.... Connor Shaw - QB #14 - Sophomore CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT 2011 112 171 1218 65.5 7.12 55 12 6 19 141.5 Good vision, good speed. Decent accuracy and improving all the time. Good TD to Int ratio. Had some growing pains this year, but came on strong at the end of the year. One of his best plays is a designed QB draw.
  3. And it didn't help that Lattimore was knocked out (literally) on the first drive of the game...
  4. FWIW, Melvin Ingram will (should) be a bigger problem than Clowney. He was named 1st team All American today. Should be a first round draft pick (5-10) next year. Clowney doesn't play every down, Ingram does... FWIW the Auburn game was the one that broke my heart this year. Win that one and USC's in the SEC championship game. We all know what they say about "if's and but's" tho.... I post all of these, not to gloat or anything like that, just to make you guys and gal familiar with the guys on the field during the game. Humm, might be a good idea for a new thread....
  5. Clowney had a 95 rating or so, which was the highest rating in several years. (That's only part of the story tho) To give you an idea of how stacked the SC D-line is, we've only been playing Clowney on 3rd downs or in the nickle package, so about 1/2 the snaps. He's a beast of a pass rusher, but can be overly aggressive in run D, getting too much penetration and missing the back. They've worked on that thru the year. Here's some video from the GA game (2nd game and his first start).
  6. Joined up a few weeks ago, undercover (checking out the competition ). I guess now that the link to cocky talk has been posted, we've been "revealed". I was at the '84 game in columbia where the huskers won 27-24. I was in high school and don't remember much about the game but thinking that Tom Osborne was a BIG (tall, imposing) guy. Honestly, I think this is a good matchup for both teams. In a nutshell, USC's defensive line is big and strong and their pass rush is insane, but they don't play the best run D, esp against the option or triple option (which plays into Nebraska's hands). One the flip side of the ball, Connor Shaw is turning into a fast mobile QB a type of which has given the huskers fits this year. SC has had a TON of injuries this year and that's a factor too. I'm sure the month off will help that situation. If you husker fans want to see some of SC's highlights for the year, check out Gamecocks online channel on youtube. http://www.youtube.c...448071D1C6C956A I've been watching some Nebraska 's highlights as well. Best of luck to both teams! See ya'll in Orlando....
  7. Of course the flip side of that is what they get locked into thru the stupid BCS process....
  8. Maybe I should have said it like that..... Gene Smith says that he, and every good AD worth their salt, has a up to date short list for every sport at an University, because you never know when somebody will be gone. ie: Oki State Women's B-Ball (unfortunate and sad situation, but it proves the point)...
  9. I didn't read the whole thread, but OSU's AD Gene Smith was on XmRadio's College sports today channel this AM with Mark Packer and Eddie George (OSU alum). He said UM was the only person that OSU talked with. He had a short list of names, and talked to people about the names on the list, but never talked to anyone else except Meyer. He said out of "respect" for the other folks on his list, that he would not name names. So, from the "horses mouth" it doesn't look like they talked to Bo...
  10. What matters to the bowls is how many fans a team will bring and what their TV numbers will be on gameday. If you (generic) don't think that matters when they make an offer, you're fooling yourself...
  11. "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." - Mark Twain. Take care of business recruiting at home (ie get the best players that you can get). Coach up the players that you do get. Play the games. Win. Repeat. Simple as that...
  12. Yeah, but how many times has MSU has been to Orlando in the past 4 years? Three. I'm not sure their fans would want to go there AGAIN. So if they don't make the Outback, then it kinda makes sense for them to go somewhere "new" even if it's a step down. Just more evidence of how screwed up the bowl situation is....
  13. That was my only point. Not sure that's the best matchup for the Huskers. I think UGA is a better fit, with Murray being a pocket passer. http://espn.go.com/v...id=espn:7254607 http://vod.espn.go.c...012251_800k.mp4
  14. Everyone keeps saying they'd rather play South Carolina, and that we hate mobile QB's. Everyone here realized that their "backup" Shaw has three 100 yard rushing games in a row and almost 500 yards on the season, despite not playing 1/2 of it. He's quick too and runs a 4.5 40yard dash. I think they've converted to a read option offense the past few games and the Offensive output has gone up. They hung 34 on (at the time) 17th ranked Clemson (their rivalry game). They held the high flying Clemson offense to 13 points (they been avg 33 a game). I watched that game on ESPN and they killed the tigers. SC has the #4 overall D in the FBS. SC's D line is scary good. I'm not sure that we match up that well with them. I think I'd rather have UGA... I realize that these are just stats and you've got to play the game, but GA hasn't played a ranked team since week 2. Let's hope a bulldog beatdown is in order...
