I need someone to explain to me how a punt defense works.... I have noticed that our players that get to the blockers in front of the punter pretty much just stop and push the blockers alittle. i understand they may be setting up the return, but it seems to me if the opposing player is on their ass they can't tackle...god forbid that actually hitting those blockers may cause them to go backwards and disrupt the kicker.... i guess to me every time there is a punt, someone should try to block it...if nothing else try to make the punter nervous so they shank it... somebody explain to me the concept of setting up the punt return...even when we do, they still have gunners on the punt returner before we can block them all...doesnt make sense..

i would like to see less zone read and more hand off to the RBs....let our horses do some work.... they will key on martinez so let them, then use the RB...when they start to adjust, then goto Martinez with the read...we need to keep them guessing...Watson hasnt seemed to be doing that IMO... he needs to take what the D is giving him and then change when they change... And as for the D...Blitz every now and then....Suh is gone...we need to get pressure on the other team's QB and RBs in the backfield!

If we stop the run, we win....if we dont, we lose...simple as that....Gabert is good but our secondary is good enough to stop him if Mizzou becomes on dimensional...

i am extremely concerned about Mizzou....they seem more complete than we do and they really rose to the big game.....if we dont establish a run game with our RUNNING BACKS we will be in trouble.... the zone read thing has ran it course...it is now time to use simple off tackle plays, or pitch plays and let helu get out there and make something happen....our O line does not seem to make holes in the middle so we need to let our good RBs do something...even a traditional option play would be good....Defenses are keying on Martinez so much, use that against them! use him as a decoy and use misdirection... in the end, this game is the season i feel....we lose to Mizzou, no big 12 championship shot....Watson needs to pull out the stops...even lining martinez up as a WR just to confuse the other team would be interesting and let Lee throw to him or hand off the ball a few times...

um.....have you not seen Ricky Thenarse play? talk about missing tackles. West has to play Thenarse is stinking up the joint. And let's not go too crazy over misery just yet. West is horrible....he always has been! there has to be someone else....this kid has done nothing good since being at nebraska...he represents everything that was wrong with the D before Bo came back

As i sit here and watch MU vs OU and some other games earlier today...i just feel like our players are not inspired to play great football....i dont see them swarming to the ball going balls out all the time... why is this?

as i put in another thread, i spoke to his uncle at parent teacher conferences the other night, and his uncle seemed very confident if he goes to college it will be NU. at NU he would do both sports....he didnt say the odds or anything about him going MLB but i got the feeling he felt that bubba would like to goto NU and play both sports but when the money is in front of you ????? uncle said Notre Dame did not impress him

turns out his cousin is in my chemistry class. had parent teacher conf. and got to speak to bubba's uncle the other night. i mentioned i was concerned that with martinez being a freshman bubba may not come to NU. he seemed to feel that bubba's commitment was strong if he goes anywhere to play. another student of my wife's saw Bo at a gardner practice and took a pic of him so Bo is still recruiting hard...Bubba did visit Notre Dame but didnt sound to impressed...they didnt have a baseball coach to talk to him and he wants to play both sports.

I think watson is to blame because he is the one calling the read plays. When they weren't working he needs to adapt. We have 2 good rbs. Just hand or pitch the ball to them to open some things up. Where is the options with martinez's speed?

I agree. Sit marinez for a few series and then get him back in. The recievers r to blame for the passing tody. Watson is to blame for not changing tactics away from the read option when it was getting stopped because they had 2 guys watchig taylor. Coaching staff was to blame in general for not reacting and adapting. Also isn't there someone in nebraskas box watghing replays so we could challange some of those calls. Hell turn on abc. They had replays of each play immmediately

This team is like those of the 80s. Piss away the big games. Y the hell don't we have receivers. U telling me those fast kids at smaller schools would ALL rather play there and not a top D1 TEAM. Just lazy recruiting. Also watson needs to go. His lack of adjustments and creativeness shows up again

It is interesting to see how each fans hates or respects other programs...i think we can all agree not having OU will be a sad thing..but for me i hate KSU...i hate their pretending butts...
