  1. Its far beyond the stats which show who won the battle, first off ill give alshon credit for 3 of those catches, the hail mary (which ill say wasnt a fluke) was not on dennard, it was giant cluster f#ck down there and alshon made a great play for the TD, Dennard had his back turned and mistimed his jump, it was a play that wouldnt normally happen in a game, but it did, thus i dont think you can completely take that as dennards fault, the other 3 however were against him, BUT shaw was 11-17, sacked multiple times, and scrambled many times on coverage locks, dennard might have given up a few catches, but how about the 15 plays he had him locked down? a great receiever will make catches, put the best corner in the NFL on calvin johnson and calvin will make plays, but that does not mean he won the battle...id say it was a hell of a battle but i think its very bias to say alshon won cuz youre a c$%k haha, what if I get that badgerfan to agree with me, can we count it then?
  2. Calling it "luck" when we used plays we practice all year and down here in Orlando is insulting. Judging your team based on whether or not you can run the ball is silly, b/c there are so many other aspects to the team, which build on each other, to make the team as a whole good. It took a ton of effort in recruiting, coaching and execution to pull off some of the plays like the blocked extra point and the 2 Alshon catches. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in the run game either, through the whole game Burkhead and Martinez avg'd less than 4 yards a carry and neither had a rushing TD. It was Burkheads 2nd lowest rushing avg of the season. You just got to face it man, NU has a better football program (way more championships), but USC was the better team this year and especially today.
  3. Yeah, but she's still blazing hot. Yeah after that bomb of an answer she still finished 3rd so she must've done really well in other areas. Yeah but she is a blonde so the judges already expected a dumbshit answer. Totally, I mean, seriously, she really bombed that question, and to finish 3rd after that...I'm sure her bathing suit and "talent" events were...breathtaking.
  4. Outliers!?!?! hahahah! We play football that utilizes passing and catching, I didn't know there was an exception to the rule that states if a play is for too many yards it's a fluke.... C'mon, the deep ball is used by so many teams in the NCAA and NFL, and for Pete's sake, you knew it was coming b/c we're Coached by Steve Spurrier. He coined the Fun 'n Gun spread offense. The "4th quarter shows very little"?!?! Really, how many quarters do y'all usually play? As a team that's 11-2, who won 4 or 5 games this year in the 4th quarter, I'm from the school of thought that the 4th quarter matters a whole hell of a lot. NU just got caught in the quicksand, USC capitalized on the mistakes and USC made their own great plays.
  5. Yeah, but she's still blazing hot.
  6. I like stats and facts. Alshon and Dennard played a little over 1 half of the game. Alshon was targeted 5 times and made 4 catches for 148 yards and a TD. Dennard had 4 tackles, no pass break-ups, no interceptions, gave up 2 huge gainers of over 50 yards. C'mon, nobody isn't saying Dennard isn't good, but the numbers show that Alshon won the battle. Also, he won the Game MVP from the Cap One (to be fair though, personally I would have chosen Shaw.) In one half, Alshon showed why most of the SEC, who has the best DB's in the country, still double team Alshon. He's a 6'4", 230 lb, 36 in vertical leaper with 4.5ish 40 yard speed MISMATCH, who also has great hands. If you don't double him, and stop Shaw from throwing in his direction, he will win a lot of jump balls. I'm all for rep'ing your guys, but you also gotta know when they got beat, and Dennard got beat...Except in the fight. I watched the replay a few times. Dennard landed 3 punches, to Alshon's face palm strike. So the Judges card would read 3-1 in favor of Dennard.
  7. Cause South Carolina beat the brakes off of the huskers today. By three scores. I'm sorry, but your coach and your qb is delusional.. Bo pelini says, after the gamecocks stomped the huskers, that they were still the best team today? So, gaining negative yards in the fourth quarter is better? I'm sorry, but 30>13. 11-2 is better than 9-4. And Martinez saying that the SEC defense isn't as good as the big 10? After the SEC held the cornhuskers to the fewest points all season? And after he got sacked 6 times and threw an interception? Gamecocks went out there and flat out coached and played the huskers today. They were the better team. But can't wait to see y'all in omaha this year! The fans and citizens of Omaha are absolutely the nicest and most wonderful fans around. And I mean that. When did Martinez say that? Do you have a link or did I just totally miss that in the post game interview?
  8. Checking in from Cockytalk.... I really didn't see a lot of negative nebraska talk today on there. Most people think Burkhead and David are really good and talked about enjoying the game and of coarse the win. Y'all have won National Championships, that's great, this is the most wins we've had in a season, that's all true. I think what our fans are really excited about is that the program is improving and going in the right direction and a lot of us were happy to win the bowl game. (We remember what it was like to lose the last game of the year and then have to wait 8 months to get another crack at a win, b/c we did it last year, and the year before that...and the year before that.) I did see a group of people upset about Pelini comments after the game where he stated that he and the players still thought NU was the better team. A lot of Gamecocks took offense to that b/c we won by more than double and that kinda talk we've got from florida, georgia and tennessee fans for the past 2 years. I know I personally don't agree with Pelini's opinion on that, though the NU program is vastly superior USC's as a whole (duh, you guys have like 4 or 5 Championships), USC was clearly the better team this year (More offensive yards, fewer yards allowed, fewer penalties, fewer turnovers and most importantly more points.) Though, ,ust about any Gamecock with his/her head on straight would trade the win today for 4 or 5 National Championship in years past.
  9. Crap, that didn't format like I wanted, oh well, see for yourselves, here's the link. http://www.gamecocksonline.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2011-2012/sc13_neb.html
  10. So now the game has been played I just wanted to recap based on who we all believed the GameChangers may be, so we can see how we speculated. I used the link below to get their stats and posted it above next to their name. Summary: David, #4, is a beast and had a great game. Martinez and Burkhead had a great first quarter. Neither team's kicker played well today. Shaw had a great game, no turnovers and managed the ball/plays. Alshon had a great 1st half, then got booted, but still was awarded as the Cap One Bowl MVP. Ingram, Clowney, Gilmore, Swearinger and Allen all had good games. Gilmore probably had the best game out of defenders, except for 1 bonehead penalty.
  11. When y'all had like 4 false starts almost in a row in the 3rd quarter, my jaw hit the floor. I thought Bo was going to break somebody.
  12. Good Game guys. We met a bunch of great NU fans this week. Some basic thoughts I had from the game... ...and that's why teams double Alshon, that fight wasn't that bad, neither should have gotten ejected, IMO, but Alshon needs to stop that open palm technique for sure, I was surprised Alshon got Cap One Game MVP, y'all ever see an ejected player get that before? Burkhead is a beast, but you guys need a better backup RB, Martinez is fast, Your OL was good but I think they tired in the 2nd half, yes, our defensive line is nasty good, Gilmore played well, but had 1 bonehead penalty, however the blocked EP runback was sick, the 3rd quarter penalties killed you guys, (what was up with that, were there substitutions?) NU net'ed -18 yards of offense in the 2nd half, that's the big reason USC won, Who's y'all's offensive coordinator, are you guys getting a new one? Y'all's Rush Def. is sick, Miles and Shaw used to average over 5 yards a carry, they got shut down until the 4th quarter. What I though would happen, happened, the team with the fewest turnovers won, I didn't know if that was going to be USC though. I was VERY shocked to see more USC fans at the game, I used to live in Manhattan, KS and go to KSU games, and I remembered how well you guys traveled. You guys are 1 or 2 good WR's away from whooping a$$ in the Big1G, your defense is already great, but y'all are like we were earlier this year and rely to much on the RB. Hopefully we'll see y'all in Omaha this year for the CWS, thanks again for all of the hospitality.
  13. A Grand Master at Jell-O-Ctagon too!!! SOS doesn't sleep, he waits for the next battle and allows the earth to revolve.
  14. Clowney got the name Doo Doo from scaring the crap out of so many QB's. When they saw Clowney on the field their only reaction was an uncontrolled movement, Doo-Doo.... But really his mom gave that nick-name to him when he was a kid.
  15. That's what he scares out of opposing QB's... (I'm being serious, that's how he got it.) lol That's pretty funny! And true. I'm wonder how we keep him out of our backfield. Or rather, whether we can. Petition the NCAA! Actually I'd be a bit disappointed if Clowney did not play. It would be MUCH more satisfying to beat the Gamecocks at full strength. Full strength? We lost Heisman contending RB, but I still think we still have a good shot. Our 5th string true freshman RB has been a horse and if Kenny Miles can get some good rep's too, it'll help. Our 5th year starting LT, Nunn, might be back as well, but we'll see what the NCAA says about allowing him a 6th year. If they give him the med red shirt, he'll sit for the Cap One game. Before you say it, I know y'all had injuries too, like Crick.
  16. Yes, the Track Team did. SAM is an organization that did things like that for Div 1 programs all over, not just USC though.
  17. Well no wonder you're passing D is so good. You've stolen Nebraska's Peso defense. haha, no, we've been running it for a few years now, I think y'all started it in 2010, then abandoned it. It's a great defense if you are deep with talent/speed in your safety position and have a solid D-Line.
  18. I don't know if I'd call it a grudge, I know Spurrier hates losing. I would assume he's focusing more on USC getting their 11th win rather than a game he coached around 15 years ago. He's really good at taking games 1 at a time.
  19. In 2009, the gamecocks compliance officer messed up, and it looks like you could use the word "cheated" for that, it seems fair. However, going on a Holier-Than-Thou tirade like you're on is ridiculous, when your school has had infractions as well. Saying "well, they were just books," isn't any different than saying, "well, they were just rooms to stay in," b/c they are both "cheating." Same principle with the Phillip's situation, we both just suspended players we could've kicked off for whatever reason, so splitting hairs is absurd. If this thread is your preemptive and cognitive or sub-concious, "reason we lost the game is b/c USC cheats thread," well that's wrong too. USC didn't have any recruits go directly to the Whitney after they enrolled. Those guys were mostly upper classmen or sophmores in 2009. There was never a recruiting benefit from the Whitney situation. If you disagree, prove it, otherwise it's speculation.
  20. Ellis absence will be felt, but at least the defensive position coaches believe in the system that got us here (4-2-5) and mixing up a little (3-3-5), so they won't try to make any changes for the bowl game. Lorenzo Ward will be calling the shots, but I don't know if he'll be in the booth or down on the field. I'm sure Ward will do a good job, but I think the defense is going to have to count on athleticism a lot this game, until they hammer some things out.
  21. I hope he does stay for the bowl game, but my gut is telling me that he'll go to work over there right away.
  22. Ellis Johnson, our former DC/Asst Head Coach, is leaving to be the Head Coach at Southern Miss. I wonder how this might effect the betting patterns for the current over/under's. http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/2011/ellis-johnson-southern-miss/
  23. Yeah, it was Thomas Sumter, Johnny Hopkins, and Sloan Kettering, and they were blazin that sh#t up everyday.
  24. Oh, so it wasn't for the c$%k Fights we held on the roof of The Honeycombs....wow, that's a much better story.
