  1. But I'd be willing to bet that the talent level was about the same on those teams and Nebraska post FS. Again, you can't tell me Nebraska 2003 was that much worse than OU 98 or USC 2000. I'd also be willing to bet Stoops and Carroll did a lot of shuffling and playing to the strenghts they had in order to put together their first season. Maybe they are just better coaches? I know no one in here wants to hear that, but it could be the truth. Seriously? Those teams already had personel brought in for at leat a 50-50 pass/run oriented offense. NU did not. Yes you can say Solich was doing this, but be real, look at the Solich recruits. Stoops had Blakes recuits. Yes, Stoops, Weis, and Carroll are good coaches, but they had a foundation build apon that was much better than what Solich left BC. Next year and the year after will prove what BC can do, but right now it is too early. Run this play, run that play, play to your strengths; offensively what would those be? Maybe he brought in Taylor because he would simply be a better example for Beck to learn from (more mature and experienced than Beck, more talented and learned that Dailey). How would one know what is possible, run or pass, with a OL with so little experience and talent. BC simply had so much to fix. To fix it enough in a year and a half to reach the expectations of Husker Nation is damn near impossible.
  2. Why do people have to turn football into a whiny wimpy sport? First people FEREAK out over the Janet Jackson incedent, TO signing a ball, Moss fake mooning a crowd, and other events like this. People need to f'ing relax. If things like these really scar someone emotionally, then they should watch figure skating or crawl in a hole and disappear. I am so tired of this fake-offendedness ( or what ever you wish to call it) that people have brought into just about everything. Yes, I know, you can say this is a college sport and that there is no room for such things. I say, this is a game where people hit others as hard as they can with an intent to harm (yes they do), a sport where fans and players talk trash (we will kick your teams ass), and a sport where we have mascots like Savages. This is simply no big deal, and that a group of tie-wearing old farts is going to sit around a table and a question what they think a coach's intentions were, should be insulting to everyone. Nobody, but BC knows the intent of gesture. If you are one that says "I know for a fact that it was a slit your throat gesture", just go away cause YOU DO NOT KNOW. If it turns out that that was his intent, GOOD! The refs sucked, and were lucky that that is the only problems that they had from the Huskers bench.
  3. If you all watch the game again, it was a motion across the neck, but it really looked like a very upset Callahan was gesturing towards the ref that Grixby was being held around the neck. It is debatable, but it is peoples nature to assume the worst. Hell, it is nice to see an emotional side to BC. Why would he make a throat cutting gesture to anyone? It just doesn't seem very plausable. It is not like he is a hillbilly.

    Murtha

OU simply overloaded the line. They play mostly man coverage against our receivers due to wind. They also knew of our weak line and how putting pressure on Taylor was the key to stopping our offense (run game is void due to poor OL blocking). It seemed that they alsways had an extra man charging Taylor. The crazy thing is, the OU Dbacks are the weekest part of their defense, but they had no reservations about playing man. So IMO, are problems were 2 parts player difficulties (OL and QB), 1 part player mistakes (missed blocking assignments), and 3 parts formation and coaching problems (not allowing someone for the extra line personel) . Murtha did much better than Thomas. Did he have a false start? Thomas is usually guaranteed at least 2 per game, in third and short situations.
  5. At least taking just a few days to think about it possibly lets us see less of a Calvin Mickens situation (commit and then change their mind). Kids can easily get caught up in the moment, and commit without thinking if it is really the right decision for them. Yes, we would like them all to commit, but committing and then backing out can lose us other commits. IMO I wish they would all think about it first. The mom is just taking the cautious side for her son. I would be that way with my kids.
  6. Too much talent???? you must be seeing something i'm not. Please enlighten me on this plethora of new found talent that we have. We have the talent, just not on the offensive line. Our DBs are slowly coming around, but this is pretty much the first year NU could practice against a passing team. Plus, they are young.
  7. Imagine if we could play 4 quarters of football.....
  8. We need to hold them and get a QUICK score
  9. I wil say it again.......WHEN ARE THEY GONNA CALL A FRICKEN HOLDING CALL! This is getting rediculous...
  10. We need to catch up...Our running game will not get that done.
  11. Even the commentators are calling the NU offense terrible...... Not needs work, not flustered, not a work in progress, but TERRIBLE. They have reverted back to how they played against PITT. Sorry, but there is lettle to be positve about. Ok, special teams look great.
  12. This is the worst I have seen Taylor look. I wonder how all of the visiting recruits feel about this?
  13. At least you have a beer.......
  14. I will start crying if we run it up the middle to start this drive.
