  1. Reality check Bucky... Washington St still had a great opportunity at the end of the game until Leaf had YET ANOTHER of his inexplicable brain farts on 4th down on the last drive. That game was an even match-up. And I was in attendance at the Tennessee thrashing and believe me, we could have NAMED the score had T.O. desired........ Dont feed the troll. Its tough to argue with stupid
  2. this isnt the first time Bo has said the fans, past players and media "dont understand". No one is saying they are smarter than Bo (and people talk about putting words into peoples mouths....) - not directed at you, Bye Bye But past players, players for other college teams and some coaches on here, do understand the basics. They understand what teams are about. They understand the phychological side of the athletes. Nowhere did he talk about scheme in this article, nowhere. and for those that say its confidence.... sorry but a confident person doesnt follow up a statement like that, with excuses as to why his job is harder or more "under a microscope" than any other elite team. OSU, Texas, FLorida, USC, Michigan (i can go on for a while) all ahve the same pressure and same microscope as Bo has. A confident person says what they can do, and then go out and do it..... As for fans... again every other major D1 school seems to deal witht eh emotional fans. Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, PSU, etc. all have the same type of fans we do here. All those colleges are in a state or town that live and breath football, much like people in Omaha/Lincoln. But, I cant recall any other coach saying this. Why does Bo have to (this isnt the first time, either)? I am not a Bo hater, I dont want him fired. I like Bo, just wish he would grow up a little faster. I wish he wasnt so hard headed, wish had some more humility and some grace with the media, fans and boosters. I think in time he will get there, again just wish it was sooner than later.
  3. I love how Bo thinks he is the only person to play football, the only person who has been in a competitive team sport. No one else understands the basics of football, but him. He thinks everyone is dumb and he is a genius, and is frustrated people can’t see it...... (Some people call that arrogance). I think Bo is a decent coach, but I would love for him to just say "we are working on getting better", instead of making excuses like; the fans are too up and down, the media is picking on me, blah blah blah. If you spent half the time you do complaining about how your job is so hard here and how the media, fans, past players and some of the boosters "just don’t understand", and applied that to fixing some of your coaching issues.... we could win a few championships! Lastly, to say his meltdowns doesnt impact the players and coaches around him.... thats delusional.
  4. Eckler and Carl left for promotions Watson - Demoted to QB coach Gilmore - Lateral move Sanders - Quit or forced to quit Raymond - Lateral move Just pointing out some holes in your argument.
  5. funny how some people on here just want to argue...
  6. ok, I'll give you MSU; but I think we agree on the rest. Penn State wasnt the same team as earlier in the year, if you compared then to any of their prior games last season. They didnt score much, but in the Neb game, they just looked unfocused and not motivated to play - cant say i blame them. Im not saying we didnt deserve to win that game, I just wouldn't count on it next year. They got some talent and with a new breath of wind in their sails, they may be tougher than people think.
  7. MSU was a pretty good defense in 2011 and we ran it down their throats. SC was the most athletic D we faced all year and we were doing the same to them until we started to beat ourselves with penalties and stupid mistakes. Penn State was a pretty dang good defense too, and our O did just fine. I disagree, our O didnt do fine. We imploded as USC, took advatage of a 1/2 dead PSU team, and got lucky with a few scores against MSU after they had been physicall burned out from the last three games. We got very lucky with MSU, PSU and tOSU games last year, dont expect a repeat next year.
  8. I wasnt all that impressed with Cousins, after all the heisman hollerin about him in 2010. Ya he was good, but I felt Price, kid from OSU, Denard, and other QBs we faced made us pay far more than Cousins did. Its their defense that scares me, which to my knowledge brings back some good experience and depth. Our offense shines against average/mediocre to lousy defenses, but top 10 defenses tend to shut us down. Maybe that changes this year, but not holding my breath If Ball had left Wisc, I would feel much better about them, but that guy is a machine. We got lucky last year with tOSU, they should have won. With a that new QB and Meyer's, and the core of their defense staying there, I am afraid to watch that game. I think we have what it takes to beat Michigan, I just know it will be a repeat of last year.
  9. I am not holding my breath that we even make it to the CCG in 2012. Our losses will be Michigan, Michigan Lite, tOSU and probably Wisc next year (baring any crappy team beating us at home, like always). 2013 looks much better imo, we will have better WRs, better OL and DL, better LBs, and hopefully 2-3 outstanding RBs ready. Not only that, but our schedule should be a little easier to win. Only question I have for then, is the QB, TE's and the DB's. so, dont get your hopes up for next year; you will just be depressed again, like this year. But, to answer the OP question, Yes. We lost it back in 2006ish when it was clear Cally was taking the program down. I think we are still a 4 star team, but we need to get in some NC's to get back to 5 star status.
  10. I wish you would step back from that ledge, my friend.....j/k Sorry but I don’t agree with you at all, and neither do most of the professional scouts and other coaches. There is a reason a good chunk of kids on your list never got a major d1 school offer. BTW, Watching HIGHTLIGHT films means absolutely NOTHING. Any knowledgeable person knows you need to watch a kid practice, watch full game films, talk to him and his family - get a feel for his personality, etc. I was friends with Jack Stark years ago (NU football psychologist from 89-03), he always said you can tell more about a champion by talking to him and his family than anything else. If he doesn’t have the right mind to be a competitor, it doesn’t matter what his physical skills are. Our recruits overall are decent, average, mediocre.... whatever you want to call it. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either; there is nothing wrong with that. We have young coaches that have to recruit in a less than ideal location, that’s just facts. To compete for championships, both conference and national, you need to sign more 4+ star athletes every year. If we have short schollys, you still need 8+ four star type kids every year. Our coaches are too young to make 3 stars into 5 stars, we need the talent until our coaches get more time under their belt. Ya, TO may have done it with less, but most of his coaches had 20+ years of experience and knew how to coach up kids. Our staff needs another 4-5 years before they will turn out kids on a consistent basis. But i do hasve to ask, why are you so passionate about defending the staff and their possible mistakes? You know they are human and will make mistakes, right? I know a lot of people bash him/the staff, but the people defending them (aka, sunshine pumpers) look just as out of touch. just my 2 cents.
  11. This is the bottom line, imo. +1 winning cures all
  12. So, if Bo happens to mention any random subject but doesn't repeat himself every single year with the exact same topic he's whining. My Gawd, when it comes to "whining" NU fans are second to nobody. I am "whining" because Bo never had complained about this before, and I pointed out the obvious? Wow, pump that sunshine.....
  13. Now living in Seattle, coming to Omaha from west coast sucks too, no direct flights. As for Bo. You werent complaining about this last year....... Coincidence that you say this after a mediocre recruiting year? Had he said this all along, i wouldnt give him a hard time. Just funny he has something to say about it after getting some heat for a mediocre recruiting year.
  14. What is "average?" If you're talking about the 66 AQ schools, we're still above average being ranked #24 overall. We're in the top third, or to put it in historic terms, roughly where most of Osborne's classes were. Focus less on the stars. Focus more on whether or not our coaches can get these guys to play to their potential. To clarify, average for a top 25 team. Average for a team that wants to compete for championships. Average for a school of Nebraska caliber. As for " Focus more on whether or not our coaches can get these guys to play to their potential"; that's my primary concern. I dont have faith in our very young coaching staff to turn 3 stars into 5 star on a conistant basis like Tom did. In another 5-10 years, ya i think they can. Thats why i had hoped for better classes early on, rely on the talent until the coaches can get some more experience, then look for diamonds in the rough. But i am not a coach, just speaking from my own opinion.
  15. what a dumb sh#t, who throws away a college career and edjucation for some pot?
  16. true, I wasnt looking at Juco. Err, maybe a B- then, its tough as you wont have him for 5 years like we could have with Shelton or Ford. I also realize we arent texas, florisa, oUS, etc. I never expected us to have a A+ year. The best I think NU fans could hope for was a A-, so a B- isnt something to be upset about. It does show us our coaches are young and need more time or help on the trail before we will see those A- recruiting years.
  17. IMO, we whiffed this year. We got some DECENT talent with handful of recruits. Honestly, the rest leave a lot to desire. Several of the kids never had offfers from big schools.... there is a reason they didnt get offers and were 2/3 star. Overall, I would give us a C+ with the walkons. We had an AVERAGE class, it deserves an average grade. With Peat and atleast one decent corner, I would have jumped us up to B. Yes Peat is that good and our need at CB is dire. .
  18. FLU, keep doing your thing. If the sunshine pumpers on this board cant handle it, who cares. I appreciate your input and well as others here. When i lived in Omaha, you didnt get to see some things from the outside, like I do now living in WA. Its good to see another outside perspective, keep it up.
  19. Shelton will probably end up in PAC and Jackson has had PLENTY of time to get his sh#t fixed, and hasnt. He will be going Juco. How we can produce Prince and Denard... but cant land a HS corner? Mitchell did well last year at Arkansas starting as a true freshman.... i wish we could have landed him. I miss Marvin......
  20. Rutger lean now that they are promising time at QB.
  21. I plan to fly down from Seattle. Shoud be a good game. Any good hotels in the area (where i wont get shot)?
  22. Oh trust me, there are guys on this board that would probably be considered stalkers in the legal sense. Maybe not you two, but they are here
  23. LOL. I think Rose likes f'ing with you fans on twitter. Its funny watching bunch of middle aged men stalking some HS kids twitter account. Michael Rose - 1 Stalker Fans - 0
  24. Seattle is not a football town by any means, but there is a certain buzz in the air that hasnt been seen since the early 90s. Next year they will be playing at the Seahawks field while theirs get a completely re-built. http://www.huskystadium.com/ With Sark, the new defensive staff, new stadium and decent recruiting classes; it should be a fun few years.
