  1. In a world of zombie apocalypse how many different plot lines realistically are there? Every show is about survival and the double tap.
  2. According to physics nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. Our galaxy has at least 100 million stars and the closest star to us, not our sun, is 4 1/2 light years away. That makes traveling to other stars and planetary systems even within our galaxy virtually impossible if we're traveling in straight line distances. Factor in the dangers of space travel; supernovas, gamma ray bursts, black holes, zero g's effect on the human body, gas/dust/debris floating in interstellar space, etc and yeah space travel to other stars is virtually impossible even if we're traveling at the speed of light. The only way we could ever realize intergalatic travel is if we find a way to create a wormhole through space.
  3. I blame Taylor Martinez. I'm a little perplexed at why that thread was locked. Anway, Jamal Turner needs to be a consistent play maker. Having a good game with like 7 catches for 100+ yards and then disappearing entirely from the offense for a month isn't going to cut it.
  4. Perhaps he didn't stay at one position because he wasn't good at any of them, and the coaches were doing everything they could to get him on the field. Perhaps. But with that type of vertical why not put Mendoza in at WR inside the red zone and just let him go up and get the football? I understand that if he doesn't get the playbook that he won't be on the field for an appreciable amount of snaps but surely the coaches could find two or three plays for him? Water under the bridge I suppose. Although it will be interesting if Mendoza goes to the NFL and starts tearing it up. Highly unlikely sure but it would raise some questions.
  5. Thanks to Husker John for posting that picture of Taylor looking downfield. It reassures me a little.
  6. What have you seen so far? Two seasons of play and tons of coach speak thus far none of which has materialized into tangible championship result. Will 2012 be any different? I hope so and I would love to be wrong but based on what I've seen well the future isn't dim and devoid of hope but it's not bright and full of hope either.
  7. That's because if anyone presents an opinion differing from "Taylor Martinez is the greatest QB in the history college football" they are ridiculed. Apparently the only opinions welcome are the ones where blind sunshine pumping occurs. This year's Nebraska squad can be very good for the reasons I've previously outlined. But again, there are way too many ifs in there to expect too much. Nebraska is a perpetual 9-3 team with #3 at QB and I sincerely doubt we'll win a conference title with him as the #1 guy. If I'm wrong at the end of the season I'll gladly admit it.
  8. I'm not pinning everything that went wrong on Taylor so you can take that empty argument and place it in the trash can. Earlier in this thread I said that if we get solid play from both interior lines and the receivers can catch this could be a very good team. But there are a lot of ifs though. I understand that Taylor is the #1 QB and nothing will change that. I'm also willing to give Taylor the benefit of the doubt but based on what I've seen thus far it is the same old same old.
  9. Watching the ball come off your hand is bad technique no matter how you look at it. I love how all you have to do is say that, well my baseball coach had me do that, and it supposedly invalidates my statement. Keep in mind you offer no proof whatsoever you just say it is so and I'm supposed to accept it as fact. Get real Rico. Taylor has worked on his mechanics and I give him some credit for that. But he's still from a fundamentals point of view a mediocre QB at best. Now if I see improvement in 2012 then I'll acknowledge it but I'm not holding my breath.
  10. Insanity and nit picking is what we do on internet message boards.
  11. I have every Nebraska game from the 2011 season currently stored on my DVR. That's all I have stored though because nothing else is worth keeping. And it took the posting of this picture for the light bulb to go on in my head as to why Taylor struggles with accuracy. We'll leave aside our receivers tendency to drop catchable passes though. We agree that fundamentally Taylor's throwing motion needs a lot of work. That being said if his footwork, setting to throw, throwing motion etc are all off kilter then it doesn't take any stretch of imagination to assume his eyes are not where they need to be. That is basically what Bo said as the reason why they have Taylor wearing a helmet cam this spring.
  12. Taylor? Is that you? Back to the thread you're not the starting QB at a major BCS school either. Neither are you but then again, you were a DT in high school and that makes you know what Taylor is doing in that pic. Taylor does watch the ball leave his hand all the time. Go back and rewatch all the games from last season and you'll see what I'm talking about especially on his deep throws. Tell you what, if you can find evidence either in an article or video that shows any highly successful QB watching the ball as it leaves his hand I'll concede the point. You can't because they don't. Their eyes are down field. I've also thrown the football with friends while tailgating and in pickup games and even I don't watch the ball coming out of my hand. I'm watching downfield for an open receiver and then I deliver the ball. The fact that you are trying to make the case that it doesn't matter where the QBs eyes are when when he's throwing is ludicrous.
  13. As bad as Taylor's fundamentals are if the Huskers can get a consistent pass rush out of our DL, receivers that catch the ball and stop killing themselves with stupid self-inflicted penalties this could be a very good team. Lots of ifs in there though.
  14. Taylor? Is that you? Back to the thread you're not the starting QB at a major BCS school either.
  15. It doesn't matter who Martinez is throwing to. He could be throwing to a stationary target, a WR running a route, or a martian that just materialized through an intergalatic wormhole. The point is that the football goes to where the throwers eyes are looking. Go out to the back yard or to a park with someone and throw a football. Make throws while looking at the ball coming off of your hand and then make throws where you're looking at the person you're throwing to. You'll see the difference in accuracy immediately. Go watch fundamentally sound QBs throw, you won't see any of them staring at the ball as it leaves their hand regardless of who they're throwing to. There's someone being silly here and it isn't me.
  16. You don't even know he's throwing to a receiver. You have zero idea what that picture is, but here you go off on some rant about losing games and where the QBs eyes should be. I happened to be the first to point out to you that you're overreacting. You want to deflect and claim my mockery of your silliness is something more than it's not. Whatever. Keep hitting that panic button at everything you see, if that's what trips your trigger. Just stop complaining when people point out your foibles. Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today and are just looking for a fight here? I didn't over-react to anything. I made a simple observation. If you disagree that's fine. But I've seen enough QBs throw over the years and I've never seen any of them stare at the ball as it leaves their hands. Calm down sally.
  17. What conniption? I made an observation. You're the one who decided to get all pissy about it. Taylor's eyes are on the football not the WR he's throwing to. His mechanics are bad enough as is. I understand Taylor is the #1 QB and he'll be the #1 guy for the next two years. But we're not going to win our division much less the conference or BCS title with him at the QB spot. As long as he's the #1 QB we'll be a mere 9-3 team tops. If I end up being wrong I'll admit it but based on his past two seasons as a starter I'm not expecting anything more than what I've seen thus far. Watch RGIII, Andrew Luck and other top QBs throw and tell me if they are looking at the ball as it leaves their hand. I'm not bashing Taylor I'm making a legitimate observation and if you don't like it then that's your problem not mine.
  18. No need to be a dick. I made the font bigger so it didn't get lost in the picture. And Taylor does have questionable mechanics, footwork and throwing motion. Which for a soon to be three year stater is frustrating.
  19. My comments were for what I wanted to see out of the Huskers, both offense and defense. I'd also like to see more play-action passing out of the I-Formation. I can't figure why Beck didn't utilize that more given how much we run the ball.
  20. I just noticed something odd here, look closely at this picture.........look at Taylor's eyes........he's watching the football-not the WR he's throwing to. It's odd because the football goes to where QB's eyes are looking. This picture tells me that Taylor still doesn't understand footwork, mechanics, or even basic fundamentals. As a soon to be redshirt junior three year starter that is completely unacceptable.
  21. Running track, and having track speed, has almost no correlation to the ability to play football. Your point about the NFL combine being worthless is simply not true. They do drills specific to each postion and those drills give NFL personnel a good look at a prospect's potential for the for next level. It isn't perfect but they get it right most of the time.
  22. If Marcus Mendoza would have stayed at one position his entire career...
  23. Here's what I want to see in '12 - More 30 or diamond formation. - All receivers catching the ball once it hits their hands. - Fierce pass rush. - Increased blitzing, especially on 3rd down. - Minimize unforced errors. - Put forth maximum effort each snap. - Never quit or allow a teammate to quit. - Vocal leadership. - Prepare for every opponent like it is the national title game.
