  1. A lot of defenses are now using the "check with me" system and every defense communicates with each other.
  2. Unfortunately that will be what Niles Paul will be remembered for. Niles Paul is the ultimate poster child for gross under-achievement. You can remember him for that, if you like. I'll remember him for a ton of great plays, instead of several failures. I'll go with flexing in the end zone after a touchdown against Arizona. I truly wish that was the memory I could go with. Instead the game against Iowa State keeps popping up. I still, to this day, ask myself how in the world can anyone fumble the ball away without even being hit?
  3. Since they are pulling these numbers from printed publications - I'm going to have to disagree w/ you. I had the '93 Huskers Illustrated and I threw it away about 10 years ago because I didn't think I would ever need or want it ever again. Boy am I regretting that right about now. I'm going off of memory, which I freely admit might be suspect, but I remember reading that issue and the two recruiting services they cited had a generally poor opinion of Nebraska's recruiting class. I know for a almost certain fact that our recruiting classes were consistently ranked 30th or lower for the 90, 91, 92, and 93 classes. Tommie Frazier was a :star :star DB which was what schools like Miami and Florida State were recruiting him as. As a QB Frazier was a minimally ranked :star dual threat. These recruiting services are rewriting history to try and make themselves look better by placing Nebraska higher after the fact.

  5. While I like where your head is at, I suggest you stay in the 420 cloud because it'll ease your disappointment later. I'd say that the chances of us hanging on to Dixon, now that his recruiter and coach is at LSU, is less than 2%.
  6. Hey...Carl...GOOD TO SEE YOU.
  7. Speaking of which, I read somewhere that Todd Peat Jr has a nasty forearm shiver, best on the team. Good at stunning the OL guy. Todd Peat is one player I'm expecting HUGE contributions/production from. He'll be a redshirt freshman and given how highly rated/recruited he was, well the bar is set pretty damn high.
  8. And plus, far more Husker fans can actually go to the game. Knowing Husker fans we'll turn it into a home game like we did that one year in South Bend against the Irish.
  9. You assume though that every coach will leave. While I conceed that most young coaches will jump at the chance to go to another school to be promoted, we don't know what is in Pap's head. He may end up being Bo's version of Charlie McBride.
  10. A personal attack insult was certainly intended otherwise you wouldn't have said it. If you hate armchair coaching then why are you on this site? It's kind of what we do here.
  11. I don't necessarily disagree but it just gets to the point where I'd like to see Bo actually recruit quality CBs instead of constantly trying to find S, WR and RBs who might be able to play CB, which is what he does presently.
  12. I did and I still disagree. Bo is a great coach but he can't do everything. Bo needs to hire the best assistant coaches he can and then get out of the way and let them do the job they were hired to do. Anyone remember Osborne was basically his own OC? TO was the HC and OC sure, but he didn't coach the RBs as well. Bo on the other hand is the HC, DC, and some people want him to coach the DBs as well? Bo is a great coach but he can't do everything.
  13. The gifs here... . LOL. And saunders45...what a great response, well played sir!
  14. There is a lot of rewriting history going on in the ranking of our recruiting classes. Back in the early 90's I don't remember any recruiting service ranking the Huskers in any of the top 20 lists. Nebraska's recruiting classes were almost always ranked 30th or lower. But since the 90's run these services have decided to rewrite history to make themselve look like they actually knew what they were talking about.
  15. I'd say for the vast majority of the players, he does let players play the position they were recruited for. So to say he can't do it is a bunch of fooey. Be gone with that nonsense. Also, I'd be surprised if he forces kids to switch positions. I'm more inclined to suspect it's something both the coaches and players agree is best for the player. You should be spewing the same amount of venom at Heard. Slow your roll there single OG. No one is spewing any vemon here. I simply don't understand the musical chairs Bo plays every year especially in the secondary.
  16. Braylon played running back as a true freshman so he'll be a sophomore in the fall. It typically takes a player a year for the light bulb to really turn on. That means he's essentially a juco with two years. Now he could redshirt and have three years but if he's switching positions to see the field then redshirting is counter-productive. I still don't understand why Bo can't recruit players for a position and then have them play the position they were recruited for.
  17. Well I'm going to give Kaz the benefit of the doubt. I want to see our defensive tackles getting separation and pressuring the QB. I've had enough with the stand in place and patty cake approach.
  18. I played DT in high school and one thing I was taught was at the snap to use the base of the palm to smack the OL in the head and then transition to the hands to keep the blocker off of me. Basically an OL can't block me if they can't get their hands on me. I mean I'm willing to give Kaz the benefit of the doubt but I'm not liking what I'm hearing.
  19. I did and I still disagree. Bo is a great coach but he can't do everything. Bo needs to hire the best assistant coaches he can and then get out of the way and let them do the job they were hired to do.
  20. I'm honestly getting tired of this crap. Why can't Bo recruit players for a specific position and then let them play the position they were recruited for in the first place? I don't see Alabama, LSU, USC or any other top school playing constant musical chairs with what positions kids will play and it's getting borderline f'ing ridiculous. How in the world is a kid supposed to get better and become excellent at one position when he's there for a season and switches?
  21. I absolutely disagree. A team needs to have the best coaches they can get at every position. DB is the one positional group where if a player is poorly coached he'll be giving up completions and touchdowns by the bunches.
