  1. Whoa! he was 19 for 23 last year and 5 for 7 this year.
  2. Effective sarcasm would include an apt comparison. This is just nonsense. There is no analogy here humerous or otherwise. It just shows a lack of understanding of either or both games and/or people's gripes against BC (I don't think he should be fired, btw). Wait! Unless your sarcasm was directed at people who argue *against* firing BC... then that was brilliant!
  3. Great! He sounds like a cocky dick. That should be super aas well as great for team coheasion. Who doesn't like a qb who 'scolds' them? Can't wait!
  4. quick sloppy addition says 53 rushing (from running backs) first quarter 30 in the second 18 in the third 14 in the fourth I was counting the running plays and the running plays for loss-- no yardage on the sacks so I really couldnt' add those in even if I wanted (but most of those weren't intended to be runs, anyway). Even if my numbers are a little off, it's pretty clear that running didn't get jack in the second half.
  5. We weren't running into a blowout, either.
  6. actually, IMO....he should have been thrown out for DRINKING Budweiser. Although I Think that Benny might have been intentionally creating a paradox wtih "good Budweiser" therefore saying that nothing was wasted.
  7. The "'so called' fans" routine is getting tired. Look, why would I be mad that a team that I didn't like did something stupid? It was a bad call-- if I didn't like NU, it would have been a great call. Good fans are pissed off when their team does something absolutely ridculous. It seems even worse to just be happy no matter what stupid thing your team does.
  8. BS, Dave. It was a bad call, and would have been a bad call even if we would have made it. At least now BC might realize that his stupid ideas really are stupid. Heaven knows what he'd be calling if that stupid play would have worked. It was bad football, pure and simple. I thought it was a dynamite call. It worked!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone seen the reply....IT WORKED. THE PLAYER FUMBLED IT though KEY WORD=====PLAYER......Were complaining about a play that worked?!?!? Yes. That was a stupid, stupid play. I would have said, "Who in the hell runs a fake punt that deep in his own territory? Thank god it worked, but that was stupid." A coach will always assume that there is a risk in the exectution of any play-- trick plays more so. Then he'll think "Gosh, this is a particularly risky play with a questionable chance of success even if it goes fairly well. And golly gee, we're deep in our own territory." Look, running those sorts of plays early in the game is the BEST time to do it. Everyone expects an onside kick or a fake late in the game if you're down. But points are points no matter when they come and I love that callihan plays with that knowledge. However, that was totally retarded. No question, succeed or fail, that was stupid.
  9. Why is basketball the "second" sport? I assume that BB only covers men's BB anyway. Hey, why not baseball? Vollyball? Soccer? Oh well
  10. And now you're a proud contributor! Grats!
  11. so far, my dad has lost one, looking pretty good. These have been some STUPID games, though. That oregon game... sheesh... they BOTH should have lost. Oregon was just the stupider of the two.
  12. I'm guessing that everyone in this thread who is making sarcastic "leather helmet" comments were just tickled pink when NU decided to ditch decades of tradition, drop NU alums from the coaching staff, and became Just Another College Football Team. Right? I Mean, you were cheering when you found out that we were getting rid of the option, right? Four legs bad, two legs good? Right? It's what you were saying all along? I really don't care what offense we run, really, but I do miss a good option without a greedy QB. We just happened to have 2 very greedy QBs in a row, a coach who played the poorest RBs first, and made a few other mistakes. Solich killed the option by calling plays like he was a kid playing a video game... have a fast player, keep giving it to him, don't mix it up, don't give it to the quality running back, put alexander in because he's big and strong (nevermind that he fell as soon as he was touched) and on and on. I don't know WHY everyone thinks that the option wouldn't work. Defenses WERE fast in the 90s. It's not like we're talking about the 1930s.
  13. Speaking of bad officiating, did anyone see the Rutger's WV game? At least I think that this was the game where I saw the call. There was a penalty during the play and a persona foul on the other team AFTER the play. They assessed the 10 yards for the hold (or whatever) and THEN assessed the personal foul, automatic first down. It was NOT offsetting (as it was in the CU game). I mean, it seems obvious. The personal foul was after the play, dead ball. K? So that is OUTSIDE of the play. So if the guy would have just punched taylor 10 seconds after the play, would THAT have been offset by the illegal forward pass? No. So whether it happens .5 seconds after the play or 10 seconds after the play, it happened AFTER THE PLAY. THey don't offset. Anyway... that's my rant. That was one of the worst calls I've ever seen.
  14. No matter who they put in, the dbacks will face guard. They're obviously coached to do that-- obvious because they *all* do it and get burned. You can't take advantage of a 40" vert if you can't jump until the receiver does. He's always going to be one beat behind. It's horrible to watch.
  15. Hell, I don't think NU has a receiver who could have made that catch. I would kill to have someone to just at least "react" to the ball and not just stand there until the reciever catches it, then try to tackle him. I would just be happy for someone who tries to tackle at the moment
  16. Yeah, I agree. Coz's D impressed me tonight sans D Backs. I Think we need a real d back coach. Face guarding just isn;t working. I think that grixby could be good but there is no way he is going to out jump someone who has a height AND timing advantage on him. They ALL face guard; I really think that this is a coaching error. If they weren't supposed to be doing it, they wouldn't be anymore.
  17. Hahha. Have you been here in the summer? We get it all cold and heat + humidity. :-)
  18. Way to represent your fan base , EDITED for content. Rulz guys don't stoop to their level. What the hell are you talking about? I was going to shoot him a "WTF?", too. I think he responded to the wrong post or has some comprehension problems I'm going with the former, though. But saying that ZT is overrated doesn't seem like it should draw such venom... I mean, it's not like he said that he sucks or anyhting.... And, hey, except for the Big 12 recognition, he's gotten no hype. Pretty hard to be over rated while being ignored Way to act. [DELETED BY MODS] You exploited our weakness in our corners. Otherwise your QB was dead meat! I bet he isnt dancing to "hip-hop" tonight! Cryer and Moore made him feel it! Dude, you're lashing out in all the wrong directions. And what is that "'hip-hop'" blast supposed to mean? It sucks that we lost, that's no joke. I don't think that ZT is overrated, I agree with a previous poster who said that he's UNDERrated (that's why I pointed out that he has been ignored). Moore was definitely on tonight! that was great!
  19. Right! A truely great *team* has enough built in redundancy so that a single player's bad game can be compesated for. Could our backs have compensated? Possibly... But one bad player having a bad game, even a key player, shouldn't, in theory, destroy an entire team. In theory...
  20. Yeah. I was trying to think of any particular NU standouts, though. The D, as a unit, had some REALLY great drives. Maybe it's me, but I'd rather see an effective unit than a single force. We really, and obviously, need to strengthen our DBs. Just think what our d would be with just "Fairly decent" dbacks. I don't know if it's a dback coaching issue or what... but just dream with me... drrreeeeaaaammm.

  22. You know who I feel sorry for? Grixby. There is no way that he doesn't know that he's getting burned. Just think about how much it would suck to be bad, to see yourself sucking in film every week, and then having to play again and keep getting burned. It's not his fault that he's short or that he might not be as talented as other players and it's especially not his fault that he keeps getting played, either. That would suck. Seriously. I Don't think that ZT did REALLY poorly. If purify hadn't fumbled, OU would have had a 7 pt lead. Taylor was making some REALLY desperate passes to compensate for unnecessarily large score gap. Suck... he should have calmed down and gone for more of the short passes instead of thinking that he had to bomb it. I just think that they have a hard time remaining sane when they're down by more than a 7-10 points. Hey, at least the UCLA game made me happy.
  23. SWIIIIIIIIIFT! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Ach. Someone on ESPN radio predicted a 2 TD loss for NU tonght. I So wanted him to be wrong
