  1. I denounce Lary the Cable Guy and all of his works.
  2. SCrew you guys, I'll wear black if I want
  3. Blasphemy! It's Tommie! Oops! I knew that...
  4. I loved watching frost play... he couldn't throw but, man, he sure could blast poeple. That had to be a shock to that LB he leveled... that whole team was just tons and tons of fun. It was just a lot of smashing from a couple of offensive positions that don't normally get to lay that kind of hurt on defenders. Tommy had a lot of skill, that can't even be questioned, but there is just something about frost who got by on brute strenght. Oh... and... oh man! What was that red-headed receiver's name? Vedril? He would just come across the field and murder safetys and CBs... hahah... I need to get my hand on a 97 highlight tape or a few 97 games just to relive that. Of COURES the 94/5 teams are AMAZING to watch, but it's like watching someone play a video game with cheat codes... I don't know... Tommy has to be #1, but my criteria are so weird that I'd have a huge tie for 2nd...
  5. Ohhh... In-head replays count now? Cool! In my head replay we actually scored in the 3rd quarter! A touchdown (run by Jackson, Lucky was pulled when it was clear that he was being ineffective) and a 36 yard field goal. Wow! This is fun.
  6. Since you're 1 post away from 5000 at this point, I'll ask you a question:) : do you think of CU/NU as a rivalry? I'm sure that this has come up quite a lot. I try hard to not think of it that way because they have a high percentage of terrible fans. I think that they had a few good years, that's for sure... but... I don't know. You're right, I want to pound them just so they can know that they aren't on par with the huskers... Heh... you know, I think that with a real rival, you don't mind losing to them. I'd rather lose a good game with OU than CU, by far. I'd also rather see OU win a NT than CU... hmm... I wonder if there is some formula that could be worked out here
  7. My fear is that now that the B12N is locked, Cally will slough it against CU and CU will play their brains out. A loss against CU would be meaningless as would a win. I'll bet he'll have a simple game plan, stick to it, and just let what happens happens. He'll call a great game in the championship, I'm sure! No, I'm not saying that we'll *lose* to CU... the chances of that seem slim at best... but if it does go awry, I don't think that BC will get too bent out of shape about it and will think about saving his players (why put Purify up in a potential back breaker for a meaningless game?) instead of the game. Can/will I blame him? Nah, not really.
  8. I think it was on par with nearly every other game we were ahead on and then nearly lost in the 3rd quater. It was exciting, that's for sure.
  9. Yeah, after we saw the call and cheered, we watched the replay and all exclaimed, "What an idiot!" As you say, it's not about how hard you hit the QB... if it were contingent on the "hardnes" of the impact, jeebus, can you imagine the arguments that woudl drag on and on and on? He came in REALLY late and hit the QB. I think that he did genuinely fall down... I mean, it's not like a soccer roll-around-owie type of fall... he lost balance and went to one knee. Have you seen tayler go down this season? It doesn't take much... anyway, whether he was faking or not, that player lost the game for A&M and I feel terrible for him... he got caught up in the moment. Sucks for him, yay for us
  10. But the game still collapsed. This can't happen in the championship. Great finish, though... I mean, wowowowowow. WHo wasn't on edge? Once the fieldgoal was blocked, I didn't feel that there was any way that we could lose I like exciting games, that's for sure, but I would have preferred to NOT see control totally lost like that.
  11. Why is everyone so ready to jump on the players but so unwilling to even entertain the thought that we can't make adjustments? They run all over their opponents until the end of the first half, and then magically the opposing team recovers all of their energy and the huskers get more exhausted during half time? What, are they running on treadmills? I think that the coaches don't know how to predict the adjustments that the other coaches will make and in return make reasonable adjustments of their own. They sure don't look tired; I just see effective backs swapped for less effecive backs and poor defensive schemes.
  12. No one turns around. Seems like they're coached that way.
  13. I sure am glad he was there for the kansas game.
  14. Weeelll... technically Joe D. was our pioneer... but more along the lines of the Donner Party rather than Lewis and Clark (historical chronology of those travels westward notwithstanding).
  15. For example, if you have a REALLY bad team that keeps turning the ball over on their own 5 yard line, they're going to be holding their opponents to very few yards You'd have a wicked good D if all that you looked out was yards allowed
  16. Can't figure out how to operate a pen to affix his signature to the resignation letter, I'd guess... I'm sure Gonzales is busy crafting a signing statement as we speak that will let him come back "if he wants."
  17. Hahha maybe he's just hot-headed enough to want to take a shot at NU
  18. Holy crap! I keep thinking that there HAS to be a trick here... but I'm pretty sure that the photog was in the endzone and shooting at a pretty normal level. I hope the shooter was a freelance, too, and that whatever Fremont paper that is doesn't own that shot
  19. 2003 [for a comparison with a different system] Passing Defense (avg. per game) 187 Rushing Defense (avg. per game) 119 Total Defense (avg. per game) 297 (hey, it's what the table says ) SCoring Defense 14.5 http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?AT...p;DB_OEM_ID=100 Of course we were blown up by Missouri, a very good K-State team (well, I think they started off the season ranked #4, didn't they? Then they lost Roberson and had a terrible season. He came back and they killed us AND OU), and, of course, Texas. What does this mean? Well, not much, does it? I don't know what you're proving by comparing Cosgrove's defense to cosgrove's defense, either. Really, I don't. I'm not being snarky, I just don't see how you're demostrating that he's doing well by comparing his record to itself. I wish that my professors would grade me by using my own papers as a rubric.
  20. oh man my bad. I must be lost, I was thinking for some reason this was a sports message board(this type of thing is done on them all of the time) For Shame!
  21. Yeah, but if that farmer has a bunch of dead crops and scrawny cows while everyone around him has healthy crops and big fat cattle, you can guess that he is doing something wrong. Oh, and becareful of the spinny shaft sticking out of the back of the tractor.
  22. More imortantly, why even try. Because it's fun to think about and it helps develop a more critical eye while watching a game hence raising the enjoyment level. When I was 12, I understood touchdowns and huge plays. After a few years of playing on the O line (not in college, don't think I'm trying to talk myself up here) with a team that did a lot of pulling and stunts (we had a fast line-- I was the fastest on the team in a 400 yard shuttle) I really, really appreciate huge blocks and clever blocking schemes a lot. I think that reflecting on and discussing the presence or absence of key players makes us more aware and we have more things to watch and cheer for. I mean, pancakes and just straight up smashing someone in the open field is great, but when you see how a pulling guard held up a tackle enough to make a nice little hole for a running back to blast through or how a leading blocker knocked a line backer just enough... well... that's nice to see, too. So yeah, if I had the time and the desire, it would be fun to go back and look at the texas game and see how many plays might have turned out differently if we had a LB in who was just a smidge faster or a smidge stronger or a smidge smarter... you know? It would really make me key on them and be aware of what our D does. Woudl that help me? Would that help the huskers do any better? Nah, but it would be something interesting to talk about it with the few fellow football fan friends I have... oh, yeah, sort of like what message boards are for, too Just my 2ยข
  23. First half their QB looked nervous-- he couldn't complete anything even to wide open receivers. 2nd half he seemed more focused and I was getting a little nervous even though we were up by 2 TDs and so were the people in the stadium around me. Very few people were clearing out early, know why? Because we've proven that we can choke with a crazy quickness.
