  1. Husker Locker (twitter handle: @Huskerlocker) posted this low-res picture of the completed concrete pour for the club seats and some of the new iron work. http://yfrog.com/nuiperpj Edit: And they just added this a few minutes ago.
  2. Just bought 9 tickets to Nebraska @ UCLA... this is basically quoting another thread here but I anticipate at least 50% Husker fans in the Rose Bowl on Sept. 8th.
  3. Mine too!!! I'm bringing 5 people with me... and I'm guessing at least 50% Nebraska fans in attendance. Wouldn't be surprised if it looks like games @ Washington the past few years (or even the South Bend Invasion in 2000).
  4. I think so, yes. It also looks like there will be glass between the old upper-deck and the new addition for some more club seats: (right under the black ribbon board that says "Nebraska"). So, all in all... it looks like 3 distinct sections of "club" seating (shown in first picture).
  5. It is interesting that these updated pictures differ slightly from some of the early digital mock-ups. Notice how the new seats extend over HuskerVision on the North and South flanks... ...but in this early digital mock-up the seats stop just before... It does look like some other early schematics do have the seats as shown in the recent update. E.g.,: )
  6. Check it out... the arena and stadium aren't the only awesome construction zones: Barry's The Husker Bar is going to be open before kickoff this fall. It will take the place of the old Barry's at 9th and Q st. ...I spy a rooftop beer-garden. Mmmmm. http://journalstar.com/entertainment/dining/new-owners-unveil-plans-for-barry-s/article_5ac9d5d3-3794-560e-9ff9-a93dbe69dd50.html
  7. Speaking of tall buildings... I wonder how Memorial Stadium will "stack up" against other FBS stadiums in terms of structure height. If I remember correctly, Memorial Stadium will be roughly 125' tall. Other tall stadiums that come to mind: LSU's Tiger Stadium, TA&M Kyle Field, TCU's new expansion, PSU's Beaver, OSU. Surely the top bleachers in the East Stadium expansion will be some of the highest off ground level, right?
  8. Warning: This is a super nerdy post. Here is a nice little article about stadium volume in FBS stadiums. Somewhat loaded with engineering jargon (and mostly tongue-in-cheek), it does offer some cool insights into what can contribute to a loud stadium. It seems that Memorial Stadium will benefit from two 120' walls on either side of the stadium (i.e., east and west stadium)... although the loooooong south endzone and longish north endzone may well allow most of the sound to escape. If press boxes were added to the south endzone that would increase the overall stadium volume dramatically in my opinion... http://www.sbnation....oudest-football
  9. Hello! I've been following this thread for awhile. I live in the LA area and am so thankful for the pics of Memorial Stadium's expansion! Just thought I'd drop a quick note letting everyone (especially knapplc) know how great it is to check out the progress... feels like I'm home (now someone mail me some Runzas or Schmigos)! Anyway, I was also wondering what peoples' thoughts were about the final result in terms of atmosphere. There has been plenty of discussion in the last year about The Sea of Red's lack of game-day enthusiasm on a consistent basis... surely this addition will increase the volume and resonance of the stadium in general, not to mention add 5k more voices, right? I'm hoping this is a HUGE step in the direction of reminding Husker Nation how great our fans are... and making Memorial Stadium actually a difficult place to visit. Thoughts? Edit: Does anyone know of plans to bolster the sound system?
