  1. Difficult news... helps to keep perspective throughout the season. Prayers sent out to the young man's family and UCLA. Would certainly be neat to see time devoted in memoriam.
  2. Yeah, I didn't want to be the first to say something . . . I didn't want to be the second to say anything... Yeah....hopefully it's alot m ore detailed and legit in person. Could prob be taller I feel the same way! He's a bit... disproportionate? Got some short 'ole legs!
  3. Apparently, its not that difficult! http://pinterest.com/akhellokitty/ribbon-boards-i-love-made-by-others/ (i keed, i keed)
  4. I noticed those in previous pictures as well and was wondering if it was still going to be installed. Went to the open house today, looks like these will be signage boards (not electronic ribbon boards) to count the consecutive sell-outs for Memorial Stadium and academic all-americans. They removed the old banners from on top of the north stadium. They also placed an "N" at the 50 yard line. (The signage boards don't stretch the length of the club level deck.) Saw an instagram photo today that made it look like the "N" at the 50 yd line is going to be backlit (much the like the N on the video booth in the South end zone). Can anyone verify? Also, the picture is from up close and the "N" looks HUGE (seems to be as tall as the installers working on it)... proof of the massive scale of that east stadium! Would you mind posting a link for this? I'd love to see it. Yup! Here you go! http://instagram.com/p/dXlfmvzXqo/
  5. Aside from the obvious, which have been mentioned a great deal here (of which I am also super interested in seeing)... I am also really interested in seeing who will be long snapping. I suppose the whole special teams unit will be interesting to watch. With questions on D, a good special teams unit could be crucial.

  7. The scarlet red seems brighter than our uniforms. Way brighter. All depends on lighting. I agree with you that lighting does really effect what these two red colors truly are. If you go look at Wisconsin's history though, their red color should actually be more of a subtle maroon color than what they have been wearing for the past few decades. However, when doing some research on the helmets of these two programs I actually learned something new today. I always thought Wisconsin was copying Nebraska's iconic helmets with the red stripe, and red facemask. But in reality, at least according to this website http://www.nationalc...Helmet_Project/ (you'll have to scroll down a ways) it was Wisconsin who had the first white helmet, red stripe, red facemask back in 1978. (Most likely not the first in college football, but they were before Nebraska). Nebraska switched to their now iconic helmet on January 1st, 1982 for the Orange Bowl game against Clemson. Either way, I actually like this new red helmet for Wisconsin, and I hope they would consider making it their new primary helmet. I think the 1970 NC team had a white helmet and red stripe... but silver face mask.
  8. Woah! Did they demolished the "steps" above the two huskervision screens? That kinda bums me out actually... *edit: It might be that I cannot see them clearly here and they're still there.
  9. I would love a HIGH resolution panoramic of the East stadium. There have recently been some high-res from the top of the East (which were incredible, no doubt) ... it'd be awesome to be able to look at each new section up close.
  10. Like this? It's a mock up I made for a friend during the alt-uni hoopla last season. It's more red than scarlet and I realize the "N" is hard to read but the "dramatic" lighting in the image I used doesn't lend itself to the side's being shown too well, not to mention during the day or under the lights, it would be easier to see. Here it is nonetheless. If I had to venture a guess, I would say either UCLA or Michigan State and considering UCLA is another adidas school, then UCLA would have the edge. Man, I think that looks real good. I think it'd look sweet with a big white N on the side like this:
  11. Matte Scarlet a la: http://www.zephyrpai...--One-Size.html Might be too close to OU look though?
  12. Does anyone know if they'll be offering tours of the East Stadium or if the East concourse will be open to all ticket holders on gameday? I seem to remember last year they opened all concourses into the East, is this correct? When I was in school we had to sneak people into the East stadium and couldn't get access to other parts of the stadium without a ticket matching the applicable gate. It'd be great to be able to actually experience the additions! Anyway, thankful for this thread and your pics everyone. Missing some of "The Good Life."
  13. One of these early blueprints indicate that the base of the bleachers in the East Stadium's upper deck starts at 115'. Pretty incredible! Also, does anyone have insight as to what each new level is in that East stadium? I see roughly three separate levels with glass (just behind the old upper deck, one level above that, and the level above that one). I know one is "club seating"... ? Edit: after looking at this picture, it clearly shows club and suite levels. Still though, what are the glass panes behind the old upper deck?

  15. >> Cornerback Antonio Bell has left the program because of a violation of team rules, coach Bo Pelini said. He did not elaborate. A senior, Bell left before the Michigan game, Pelini said. Bell and Pelini, you’ll recall, exchanged heated words on the sidelines in the late stages of the Northwestern game, when Bell picked up a holding penalty on a key third down play. The penalty had no effect on the outcome of the down — Wildcat quarterback Trevor Siemian scrambled for a first down — but Bell got the hook anyway. 16. "Brian Rosenthal ‏@HuskerExtraBR One tweak to this year's Blackshirts: The jerseys have a skull and crossbones on the sleeve." Anyone have pics of these?!
  17. Re: the ESPN and Corn thing... Its not that showing corn-themed things is bad (we are, after all, the Cornhuskers). Its just that corn becomes the focal point of portraying the great state of Nebraska. Truthfully, the corn shots aren't even of beautifully rolling fields with a traditional Nebraska sunset. Instead, its brown corn, filmed at night, and has our mascot stumbling through it. With the new "Lincoln" city campaign, and the pride Huskers have about the aura of game day around Lincoln, you'd think more of us would be upset that ESPN is showing millions of others that... really... corn is all there is. Having been born in Norfolk and lived in Omaha, Columbus and Lincoln, I know the genuine spirit of Nebraska (rural and "city"). Having moved to LA to finish med school, I miss that rural vibe sooo badly (which is unmistakable, even in Lincoln). I follow the stadium expansion post incessantly. Have my family members send me pictures of the Haymarket. Love to see articles published about our college town. How we're consistently ranked as a great place to live. AND WE ARE! What if the ESPN portrayals of Nebraska showed a vibrant college town surrounded by beautiful countryside? A progressive city with night life, good people, excellent sports, and a vibrant economy. Part of what is so incredible about Husker sports is that the university is not just a presence in one city, but the ENTIRE state. However, having watched three years of Nebraska football on TV (coming home for one game a year... my family has 4 season tickets, had 'em all my life) I am left with the sad realization: perception is reality. To the average male that watches football on television each Saturday, Nebraska is a field of corn. Thus, to the average recruit, one can only assume there is nothing for them here. They can go to the Pacific (Oregon, USC, Washington) or mountains (Arizona, CU, BSU) or to thriving college towns (tOSU, Wiscy, Michigan, LSU, Clemson, etc.). Can you blame them?
  18. Regardless of where its filmed, Nebraska translates to Californians (who are, by in large, ignorant about anywhere outside of California) as being nothing but fields of corn. As far as anyone watching the games at Nebraska knows, fields of corn surround the stadium.
  19. Anyone else HATE how many "corn" features are tacked onto commercial breaks. For heavens sake, show downtown Lincoln, the Haymarket, Campus, aerial stadium shots... but Herbie running through corn stalks?! Really?
  20. I've got some friends that need to sell their tickets... face value (I think $67?). Husker sections (shaded). Scalping is illegal at the Rose Bowl FYI. Okay... I re-read this and it looks sketchy. 9 of us are going to the game, but one of our group members bought 4 extra. Let me know if you want 'em!
  21. "Nobody on the national level cares about Nebraska, nor should they" ...the Rose Bowl will be overtaken with Husker Nation. People far and wide care about the Huskers. Try and find a UCLA fan in LA. Good Luck.
  22. It's the exact same time as a 6:30 kickoff in Lincoln. it's 6:30 Pacific Time, but with the sunlight it would be no different than a 6:30 kickoff here, but that's 8:30 time wise here, so that's no different then ending around 11:30, and it will be lighter out there as well, so it wouldn't feel like 1 or 2 in the morning. Its a 4:30 pacific time kick off... so, as Red Denver said, its no different than a 6:30 kickoff in Nebraska (Central Time = 2:00 ahead of Pacific Time). PS: Posted that as others were posting the same. Sorry for the repeat!
