  1. I'm kind of pissed nobody has mentioned Michael Rose at LB yet.
  2. Does it matter? We'll be up to 18 -20 teams in no time and this whole evaluating thing starts over again.
  3. Yawn. None of these things - including booze and cars - are designed to kill. That's why they're not part of this discussion. Guns' sole purpose is to injure/kill. Let's stop being irrational here. I was target shooting the other day... I guess IT failed to perform its intended purpose. You didn't injure or kill any targets? Is it possible?
  4. Why would anyone want to murder a bunch of people?

  6. I agree. But if that's the case, in order to prevent any shooting you would have to ban all guns. Not just "assault weapons".
  7. Again with the mental illness copout. Stop with this deflection of the actual problem. Crazy people exist the world over. The issue is the gun. Not sure if serious. 100% serious. This whole "mental health care" tangent in relation to the gun control debate sprang up after Sandy Hook. There's always an excuse for why people use their guns to commit mass murder. You cannot identify and treat every single mentally ill person in America. The gun lobby is raising hell about gun registration - but instead of registering guns, they want to register the mentally ill. It's a deflection, and an obvious one at that. I agree to a certain point. But I also think there is a certain amount of recognition that can be made regarding someone with a mental condition on whether they may cause harm to someone else. In the case of the Sandy Hook and Aurora movie theater shootings. It should have been noticed. IMO.

  9. Well, I've already explicitly stated it, but I will do so again. The government already limits what kinds of arms an individual can have. Why would banning the AR-15 and other assault type weapons be "an all out assault on the 2nd amendment"? Hey Harry, see you're fighting the good fight again today. Junior, the devil is in the details. The list I saw circulated recently concerning banning "assault" weapons included a list of specific arms, PLUS the definition that it contain ONE of a long list of features, (which is the criteria to expand the list). A lawyer friend once explained to me that it would take an act of congress to create the list, but once created, would take only policy changes by a mindless bureaucrat to add to it. I'm not a proponent of limiting the liberty of law abiding citizens, in a (futile) attempt to correct our societal failings. I think you are onto something here. We could completely get rid of criminals if we made any and all activity legal! Get rid of laws banning murder! I mean, talk about a futile attempt to correct for societal failings. What about laws against rape? If the woman can't stop it herself, why should the man's liberty be limited? Junior, don't start putting words in other people's mouths. No one is saying anything of the such of which you just mentioned.
  10. But if it really is a psychological problem (which I do think is apart of it since these people are mentally ill) then I think this is more of a product of our culture than anything else. And if that's the case then we're ignoring the real problem.
  11. I'm quite certain that there is. Why do you like having an assault rifle? Does it make you feel safer? More powerful? I'm quite certain the same holds true, and is perhaps exacerbated, for someone already contemplating murder. Well I only own one. I actually own more bolt action rifles and shotguns then anything else. But I think many people just like being gun collectors.
  12. There must be a psychological effect of having a assault rifle that causes these shootings I guess.
  13. A Mini-14 was the most inaccurate rifle that I've ever owned. (7" plus groups at 100 yds with handloads.) Good riddance to that clunky junk . . . I'm much happier with my .204. (That said, I think that you should be able to keep your Mini-14 too . . .) I actually prefer a bolt .223 myself. But I will admit the mini-14 is fun when they're on the run.
  14. Well, I've already explicitly stated it, but I will do so again. The government already limits what kinds of arms an individual can have. Why would banning the AR-15 and other assault type weapons be "an all out assault on the 2nd amendment"? Because it won't solve anything. Based on what data? That Australia's ban on assault weapons didn't decrease the rate of mass shootings from 11 in the decade before the ban to 0 in the decade after? But wait, it DID do that.... So instead of using "assault rifles" mass shootings will be because of pistols and shotguns. Next in line "assault pistols and assault shotguns".
  15. I'd actually like to see if I could chop a small tree down with it.

  17. We already have laws regarding automatic weapons and bombs and I'm cool with that. So now that we have those scratched off the list lets talk about all the weapons below that.
  18. No no no. Your using the word weapon and firearm as the same thing. And it's not. I'm talking about firearms. Yes, you are talking about firearms. I'm talking about a direct reading of the constitution. By all means, tell me where the word "firearm" appears in the 2nd Amendment. What are you trying to get at?
  19. knapplc - I don't want a bomb or tank.. I just want to keep my mini-14 that I use for coyote hunting.

  21. Okay... So I see many want to lump explosive devices with rifles and call them the same.
