  1. So, let's say there is a ranch family in the Sandhills of Nebraska. Their family has raised cattle on that ranch since they homesteaded the place in the late 1800s. For generations their family has worked on the ranch and has built it to be a very large operation. The current generation has kids. Is it a bad thing that those kids feel like they should be able to stay there and take over the ranch and continue that ranch in the family? Is that attitude some type of horrible entitlement? Should the government be doing something to break that "wealth" away from what that family built over generations simply because it's passed from one generation to the next?
  2. I don't believe there is anyone in this thread that doesn't believe the majority of the wealthy people in this country started off in a decent position.
  3. Sooooo.....Trump is going to expand coal mining AND relax OSHA regulations. Whats the over under on when the next coal mine disaster happens killing a bunch of miners? I have never understood why people fight so hard to keep those jobs instead of supporting efforts to create jobs somewhere else for them to work.
  4. So, if I write an article and it's published talking about how black people feel entitled to the government programs paid for by other people and how if they would simply work to get off welfare and stop getting hooked on drugs and making 10 babies with 12 dads, do you think I would be labeled racist and people would claim I hate black people? After all, a much higher percentage of black people are sitting home collecting government help than anyone else. As Diaco has pointed out. The way the word "entitlement" is used and other phrases takes away from any real point the author is trying to make. So......someone earning money and wanting to pay as low of taxes as possible to keep as much as possible is suffering from an "entitlement" attitude? If so, almost every single tax payer in the US is suffering from an "entitlement" attitude. I sure do and I'm not ultra rich top 1%er. Now, I'm sure Diaco would also agree that everyone (including the wealthy) should be paying their fair share of the burden. But, when you have 1% of the population that is already paying almost 50% of the income tax in the US , you don't think they have a right to question where that money is being spent? Should they have total control? Hell no. And, they probably should have less control than they do. Oh...and I loved your little dig that I'm some how falling into the Republican's trap by feeling this way.
  5. So, looking at the Dow. On 2/1/2009 (little over one week after Obama took office), the Dow was at it's low point from the disaster that started in 2006-2007. It was at 7,063. 8 years later on 2/1/2017 (little over one week after Trump took office), the Dow was 20812. So, it averaged over those 96 months to gain 143.21 per month. Now....today, the Dow is 21,201. Over those 4 months, the Dow has averaged gaining 97.25 per month. GREAT JOB TRUMP!!!! WHOOO HOOO....... Soooo....much better. This is one hell of a improvement over what we have been experiencing.
  6. I'm just interpreting what you are typing. I fail to see how it is any other way.
  7. I may have missed something. What exactly is this about?
  8. You gotta love this with our biggest ally in the world.
  9. So, it is all about those big mean evil rich people.
  10. And you don't see how that quote comes off as "those horrible evil rich people"?
  11. What if Clintons (or the people around them) had threatened to fire the independent person who is investigating them?
  12. You don't see how this quote from the article you used promotes that?
  13. This is going to be interesting.
  14. Then maybe you posted a bad part of the article. I might read it tomorrow.
  15. I'm so tired of both parties now whining and crying about the other one being "obstructionists". Friggen figure out working together and compromise. And yes...I know the republicans were pathetic for 8 years and now we are in weirdo la la land. Just tired of it all.
  16. Didn't read the article. Your snippet was enough. Looks like an article doing nothing but trying to point out how horrible those rich people are.
  17. Ok. Here's an interesting question. My son found and has purchased a 1984 chevy Scottsdale 4x4. It's in dang good condition. Question. We were told that the block was replaced in 1994 or it came out of a 1994 truck. (Not sure which) in has a bad miss in the engine so we are going to start at the spark plugs and work out from there to more expensive solutions. Here's the interesting part. What year of engine do you buy spark plugs for? For the life of me I can not get in a position to see the block cast number.
  18. I believe that the appropriate tax rate is different at different times.
  19. Well....that would have been right at the start of my Rush phase where I thought he was the greatest thing on radio. So, we would have had that.
  20. Like I've said. When a sane and logical leader is told by every intelligence agency in his own government that someone around him is colluding with a foreign government, they would WELCOME an investigation. This blubbering idiot either was in on it with them or his ego just can't handle bring told he made a mistake hiring people.
  21. What it tells me is that, even though I am for lower taxes, there is a limit to how low you can go and still function as a government. That's true no matter if you're a small state or the federal government. The trick is to find that sweet spot where the government functions and the people kept as much of their money as possible. And have major debate on expenses.
  22. The vindicated part was because Comey said (in the memo - not to Trump) there wasn't an investigation into him. But that isn't even what Comey's testimony is about. It's about Trump asking him to stop investigating anything to do with Russia (e.g. Flynn). That's my point.
