  1. Yep. I said this: That last part is still true. Eliminating thinking different from your own isn't a solution. So, thinking differently about gay people, black people and Mexicans isn't a solution?
  2. There's little worth arguing in your post because it's all opinion and I see no chance that you'll change your mind. You're emotionally invested in the abortion debate. I'm not. Now you claiming that you didn't say that people need to change their thinking to align with your views . . . now that's worth discussing because it's not a matter of opinion. It's an awfully short discussion when I can just quote your own words. Now if I could just eliminate or change your thinking . . . Hey...you're the one who brought up abortion.
  3. You sound like you have no argument for anything else that was in my post.
  4. Your words: Your beliefs aren't the problem . . . you just need to change their thinking, right? I said MULTIPLE times in my post that I want to eliminate the NEED for abortions. Sorry if your reading comprehension is bad. No . . . you said "Eliminate them thinking they NEED to kill babies." Direct quote. If you'd like to walk it back and change your argument, fire away. Until then you're saying that you're right and people who disagree with you just need to change (or eliminate) their thinking. You really need to slow down and read an entire post.
  5. I said MULTIPLE times in my post that I want to eliminate the NEED for abortions. Sorry if your reading comprehension is bad. Easy now, carl has a point even if it is a bit pedantic. I think he's just pointing out your ethnocentrism. You believe that people think they NEED to kill babies, but in reality sometimes there is a justified medical reason to have an abortion. You may not have intended to say it but you are basically wanting to suppress people's thoughts, or the fancy new word I just learned, proselytize them. Convert them to your beliefs. BS....Eliminating the need for an abortion is just that....eliminating the need. I know that isn't going to eliminate every single abortion. I can concede that in the chance there is a threat to the life of the mother, fine...have an abortion. If you have to choose, I am fine if the woman and the doctor decide to save the life of the mother over the child. That is an extremely small percentage of abortions in this country though. Look at all the rest, figure out why they choose abortions and work with women's groups to eliminate that need for an abortion. That can be through: a) contraceptives b) sex education that results in girls being smarter about sex and more people waiting to have sex till they can support a child. c) holding boys/men accountable to support a child they help create. FYI....I am willing to go one hell of a long ways with this one. d) education and counseling on adoption options while supporting the mother through the process. Not one thing that I have said in this thread or listed in this post points to me wanting to control women's bodies.
  6. Yeah, I don't like this either. Georgia already has 30 commits. How many do you think they will take this year?
  7. Southern Miss game 2012. That game almost brought me to my knees. I NEVER leave a game early and I almost did that day.
  8. That'd be a nice simple argument but you have the facts wrong. Please explain.
  9. Your words: Your beliefs aren't the problem . . . you just need to change their thinking, right? I said MULTIPLE times in my post that I want to eliminate the NEED for abortions. Sorry if your reading comprehension is bad.
  10. They do this really strange. Last night there were 8 games. Tonight, there are 22 first round games and 5 second round games. Why in the world don't they even that out?
  11. Here is a clue. If you are sitting with thousands of people at a sporting event that I'm sure are also cheering on the team and YOU can be singled out by absolutely every fan in the place as being annoying.......you're over the line.
  12. You see, to me, the abortion issue has nothing really to do with religion. At least no more than stealing is wrong and that happens to also be a commandment. It has been framed in this religious zellot vision and it doesn't need to be.
  13. The Republican party isn't "demonizing" the use of contraceptives. They are supporting a church's right to not pay for them in an insurance plan. There is a big difference.
  14. Nice misinterpretation. I didn't say anything of the sort.
  15. Well, this would solve how to split the B1G divisions! So, once again, the "Breadbasket" has no port. No thanks!
  16. This is a good example of my expectation that the GOP will keep banging their head against the same wall. They seem to think, "It's not the GOP ideas that are wrong . . . it's the perception of those ideas that is wrong." If this is the reaction of the decision makers in the GOP they will probably be spending some time in the wilderness. It's Unskewed Polls all over again. The echo chamber lives on. Please explain.
  17. I can only speak for myself and how I view things because all of this is from a personal point of view no matter who is talking. But, since you brought up abortion: I personally believe that abortion is one of the most disgusting things our modern society does. It is taken times 1,000,000,000 when you talk about late term abortions. So, my view on the subject is that I dream of a day when there are no abortions. Now, that doesn't mean banning all abortions right now and no woman will ever have another abortion starting tomorrow. That won't work. Even if the government would ban all abortions tomorrow, that won't stop abortions. That just means they go underground and babies are still being killed. I know that even if I wanted to, I can't stop abortions by women who want to have them. So, (Republicans) stop with the act that you can. So, conservatives need to change the conversation. Let's eliminate the NEED for abortions and through that, change people's attitudes towards...."All you want to do is control women's bodies" ( for which is farthest from the truth but the libs have done a fantastic job of framing the argument around that). I have absolutely no desire to control anyone's bodies. I simply want them to stop killing babies. (and yes, there is a huge difference) How is that done? Eliminate them thinking they NEED to kill babies. Conservatives need to stop feeding into the idiotic talking points from the other side. The base idea of eliminating abortions is a good thing. Putting it out there in a way that makes it easy for the other side to frame it in a threatening way is just plain stupid.
  18. What specific proposals would you make? How would you present "no abortions ever" or "legitimate rape" or "deport all illegals" in a way that doesn't turn away women or Latinos? Quite frankly, many of the things trumpeted by the GOP can't just be hidden under a fresh coat of paint. Those aren't conservative values. Those are Republicans being idiots.
  19. ". . . it will be easy to replace the job they were trying to give me." If that's true . . . they probably don't care. At what point would you say no to further pay cuts? Or would you just keep bending over while the CEO was given giant raises? Translation....."I'll live off unemployment and government programs till I find a job". If that's me...no thanks. But, that's just me. Unemployment is over 8% with the economy still struggling to come out of the tank. A job while trying to find a job is better than no job at all. But...hey....that's just me.
  20. Embrace conservative values without being scary/threatening/demeaning/flip flopping/cold hearted/crazy/radical/condescending. It isn't conservative values that is wrong. It is the people and ideas that are coming from those values. It is how the ideas and values are being presented and discussed from that side of the argument that turns people off. As for another party. I'm all in if one can be put together that can present a conservative front while being reasonable, caring and inclusive. The Republicans think they can win with nothing more than angry white men. Everyone else is just crazy if they don't agree with angry white men. That doesn't work. I'm an angry white man and I don't even want to be a part of it.
  21. Of course if you co-sign a loan you are on the hook if the person doesn't/can't pay it. I obviously feel horrible for the mother, however, she signed the papers. Suck it up, pay it off and move on with your life.
