If you watched it, watch it again and then rewatch it. It was a "RUB ROUTE"!!! The receivers were suppose to "RUB" off the defenders and one was going to be wide open!!! The corner gets hammered because he gets in the way of the route. If this is 5 minutes into the game what's the call? You can not impede the progress of a reciever down the field past 5 yards. It should be a flag, but because they refs try to stay out of it at the end, we lost. It is either a flag route wide open over the middle or you have outside shoulder throw where the reciever has a chance on the side line or now one else. Looks like they where in a cover 2 with press coverage on the outside. A "Rub Route" with an underneath (underneath the safties) is a great call to keep the drive alive.

You know, I don't feel as though we were dominated to the degree that I initially thought (and consequently how everyone else seems convinced), especially going through the process of trimming this game down. If we didn't make half of the mistakes (unforced or otherwise) we made...we win that football game. Without doing those two point conversions that all failed (not blaming Bo, becuase if they worked we would be calling him a gutsy genius). We come down the field and AT LEAST get 3 to tie the game AND let me ask you... Who had the momentum at the end of the game prior to the interception?!?! Watch it again and give our team some credit. We didn't give up. We STOLE the momentum...it wasn't given to us.) and the hurry up offense (where Tommy seems to feel very comfortable as long as his recievers aren't getting bumped off of routes) I feel that we had MSU reeling big time. Even if they would have held us to a field goal at this point in the game.

I don't either. I have watched many NFL calls go the way of the Quarterback that were much much MUCH more questionable than this one. Of course, we are not talking about the NFL here... To me, when watching, I said nope. Forward motion of the arm, easy call, incomplete pass. Even when Armstrong's arm was hit by the helmet had the strength to hang on through the throw. Horrible call.

I agree. If Armstrong is able to complete those throws in the flats (the ones that had room to pick up 4-5 yards) don't you think it eventually leads to more room in the middle for AA???

That gives me something to shoot for. I would have to learn how to do that. As of right now that is beyond my abilities. I know for me, I don't have the Luxury of BTN. They should definitely fix the stats for a .50 sack for both of them.

Definitely, very smart. If you are truly interested in visibly witnessing the team grow through its paces and past mistakes, it's the only way to go. It separates true fans from mere spectators IMO. Lol I disagree with that. I'm as passionate as anyone but I coach HS football and starting today have to double duty with Jr High wrestling. I don't have time to watch college film over and over. Does that make me less of a fan than you? I sure hope that's not a real perception because if it is, it's disappointing. I DO NOT wish to beat a dead horse... Just felt someone here might find this useful. I am sure that somewhere on this forum this was done LONG before I did it on this particular game, however, I've taken the liberty to trim the junk out of the last game for anyone that would be interested in analysis and exactly what type of improvement you could expect to see against Northwestern. This was the first time I've attempted this and I have to tell you, if you've never gone play by play over a game that you've already watched, front to back, you REALLY miss details of plays and which player was doing what on a particular play. This really opened my eyes to wanting to do this more. If this is not allowed or not needed or wanted then just let me know and I will find another way to waste a whole crap load of time! Well and there you go, a rivalry IMO, can be created when you have a team you love to hate and they make it easier for you to hate on them i.e. Throwing off your snap count and then having their head coach talk some smack in your face after the fact, reminding you in the post-game press conference about how we said we would run it and he jabs you with your total rushing yards...you know, stuff rivalries are made of!!!

I realize this may be somewhat childish and not necessarily in keeping with the classy tradition of Nebraska Football but, here's what I'd like to see: I would like to see us run the table with a vengeance. I would like to see us and Sparty to make it to the B1G Championship Game. I would like to see us hit Sparty right in the mouth all day...and THEN Just about 5-6 mins left in the fourth, after we have sucked the life out of 'em, take a false start and unsportsmanlike penalty for...you guessed it: Clapping! And as we are backing up for 20 yards just clap the whole time towards the 11 on the field and towards Mich States Bench. Sorry for this rant but I had this vision run through my mind and I had to vocalize it. And...I'm done.
