  1. Again this is coming from Oregon St., not Nebraska. It may be true, but I am waiting for the official announcement!
  2. Thread title says "Position Coach". Can someone clarify? No official report, yet!
  3. There are new posts on these coaches based off some questionable reports. Other than Bray, I am not buying until I see the official report,
  4. You need to understand that Frost said before that he would not come back without being the HC. This is more to do with Frost than Riley.
  5. By Rich Kaipust / World-Herald staff writer LINCOLN — The expected migration of football staff from Oregon State to Nebraska might have begun Saturday, almost immediately on the heels of Mike Riley’s introduction as Husker head coach. But, according to one source, Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost isn't likely be joining Riley's NU staff. Although no hirings were confirmed Saturday, Trent Bray, Mark Banker, Bruce Read and Mike Cavanaugh all were linked to potential NU jobs by different media outlets. A tweet by a SI reporter & footballscope.com. Wow, reliable sources.
  6. Check their past 5 recruiting classes, Nebraska has far more 4+ star players. The difference is that they can teach & make their kids better. What if the new staff can't get those high 3 and 4 star guys to come here? We may have a few more wins the next few years and a 2007like fall off. Then there shouldn't be a drop off from recent years considering this staffs ability to develop talent Whole new system to learn that is why a good DC is needed.

What if the new staff can't get those high 3 and 4 star guys to come here? We may have a few more wins the next few years and a 2007like fall off. All signs point to the OSU staff being fantastic recruiters, I have no doubt they'll be able to pull at least the same caliber talent as Pelini & co. Sounds like another staff we had here. As a matter of fact, Banker being "well traveled " reminds me off a former secondary coach we had. It's hard to explain anything to the ignorance! Ah hem, Bill's staff was supposed great recruiters. Elmo was well traveled. It didn't make them successful. OSUs staff hasn't yet recruited to the level of Bo's staff. Please explain my ignorance. One more time: they did not have the facilities or resources they have now. Miles did not recruit big time players at Colo. St., but after year at NE he is putting together some the best basketball recruiting classes in our history. I am just saying that your argument holds no facts and give him & his new staff a chance. True. I'm just saying that history has shown us that being viewed as a good recruiting staff doesn't mean that this staff will be successful. And this staff, whomever fills it out, hasn't proven that they can recruit quality talent to Lincoln. Both of those statements are facts. T doesn't mean that they won't recruit to a high level or be successful, it means that they have to prove it. And your Miles comparison means nothing, unfortunately. I agree that we need some top recruiters on this staff. I am just saying that Oregon St. is a sub-level power 5 school. I do not even consider them a second level. Interesting. Kinda funny. Something else to consider, even if this staff was good at recruiting in Corvallis, just walking into Lincoln does not automatically make their jobs easier. They need to open new recruiting avenues, think of things in state, they've likely never recruited this region much, and their west coast pipeline will likey not be as fertile as it used to be. Thankfully,,Bo left us a solid class this year. They appear to recruit well in TX & CA. The question lies in the south & midwest. As far as Bo's class, 4 or 5 would be coming here just because it is the Huskers.
  8. Riley likes calling the offensive plays. For this reason, I figured that Frost would not come here and that Garrison would. I was looking at more of a "splash" at DC.

  10. Your source who says we are hiring is whole staff?

  12. Well lets put this into perspective. You ask santa for a cd of The Who, but your mom screws up and gets you a CD of The Guess Who. And after that its revealed that there is no santa and youve been lied to. People dont want to be given hope then have it taken away. Alot of people wanted hope that when bo left the person that replaced him would be better, on paper hes not. The guy who replaces him says hes not above getting people in here who knows more about things then he does. Rumor mill flys that hes not. Hence the freak out. Do you want 4 more years of sh**ty football with a guy who says golly and thats swell. I like Riley but hes is on a very very short leash with the fans. So now you are a psychic. No, but stats dont lie. Mike Riley does not have the best stats and that would let you know that if he doesnt recognize on his areas that he needs to prove then he isnt doing what he says he needs to do and he needs to take his happy ass back to oreagon st. Can you honestly tell me even if hes building his staft and trying to get something rolling here. If he does 2 5-7 seasons here back to back hes gone. No way, no way in hell he survives that. He has 2 seasons to make it to the champ game or hes gone. Fans and boosters wont put up with it. BigRed please check the stats before you post. Oregon St. plays against offenses in the Pac 10 that are far better than what we played against all year. The Husker under Bo would probably not have a much better record. And yes the talent level is much better at Nebraska.
  13. OSU Opponents Total Offense: Hawaii- 72nd SDSU- 67th USC- 31st Colorado- 41st Utah- 87th Stanford- 77th Cal- 15th WSU- 6th ASU- 34th Wash- 49th Oregon- 1st Nebraska Opponents Total Offense: Flor Atlantic-96th Fresno- 54th Miami- 45th Illinois- 101st MSU- 14th NW- 105th Rutgers- 84th Purdue- 109th Wisc- 20th Minnesota- 104th Iowa- 69th Stats aren't everything but overall OSU played against better Offenses. Thanks Joe. This staff is not as bad as people think, but I still want a great DC.
  14. Check their past 5 recruiting classes, Nebraska has far more 4+ star players. The difference is that they can teach & make their kids better. Which is testament to how well Nebraska is still regarded. If our previous garbage talent developers could recruit that well than these coaches who've been doing more with less should be rockstars with Nebraska level recruits right? Nobody knows what's in the crystal ball, but we can all wish for the best. I am just saying that you are comparing apples to oranges. We have more resources & facilities. This just like Miles coming to Nebraska. He will do much better here than Colorado St. Oh yes, there was a bunch of whiners in this board about that hire. I hope your right!!! I'm all in on the Riley train, but can't help but have some reservations still.....it's kinda in our DNA now after Callahan and Pelini. I do to. Maybe its my age, but I am willing to give a chance before hanging him.

  18. Not a surprise as he wants to be the HC.

  20. Perhaps. But this is bigger than just next year. We need a foundation long term. I'm frankly sick of the coaching changes. We needed a coaching change. In part because Bo surrounded himself with yes men. I don't want to swap one set of yes men for another set of yes men. You know for a fact that all of Mike's assistants are yes men?
  21. http://247sports.com/Player/Tyrin-Ferguson-58545 http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3389007/tyrin-ferguson We can still bring on Steele if we wanted to...this move doesn't prevent that from happening. Having said that, Riley seems dead set on saddling Nebraska with his former OSU buds so far. Very disappointing.,. He said from the very beginning that he would have a mix of his current coaches and new hires. This is nothing new.
  22. I would not be happy either, but his staff is much better than what we had.
  23. I would not be thrilled with Barker, but he was with Riley when they won 2 grey cups. He has a lot of experience and had very little talent at Oregon St. I still go back to Mike's comment at the press conference, saying there would be a mix of current & new coaches. I defiantly would be more happy with Steele.
