  1. Nebraska's home game against the Oregon Ducks just got more interesting. Riley should know there style very well, and now will have more talent to compete!
  2. Well he now has the same resources that Bo had, so I'm guessing many will be willing to give him 7 years to win a conference title.
  3. I'm not sure, but the total points scored in that game is less than the average points Wisconsin scored in one quarter against Nebraska. That speaks volumes to me.
  4. I apologize if this has been posted already. Two very interesting facts I see about Riley. 1. Bo's worse loss was in the 2012 CCG (70-31). That same year Riley's OSU team beat Wisconsin 10-7. 2. Another bad loss for Bo came in 2013 to UCLA. In 2012, Riley's OSU team beat a similar UCLA team. All of this with less talent. Just something to chew on.
  5. Nah. I wouldn't have any idea what you're talking about. On an unrelated note, is it weird to hit refresh every 2 minutes I'm not even joking? Yes, it is weird. I've been doing it every 30 seconds All I know is this obsessive behavior is driving my wife crazy and reducing my productivity at work.
  6. There are also some flights this evening into Santa Ana and San Jose. San Jose is 10 minutes from where the Pac 12 championship game is being played, and also close to Stanford
  7. On this note, when was the last time SE was seen in Lincoln? I know he was there Sunday night to speak with the players, but has he been in the admin office on campus all week?
  8. Well put. I've said the same thing in other threads too. There are exceptions to every rule, but if you are looking at probabilities, an experienced head coach with success has a better chance of succeeding here than an experienced coordinator would. Plus, unlike some assistants that are promoted within their current program and who are able to retain the team chemistry and style of play, we are talking about an assistant coming in to build a whole new approach to offense, defense, special teams while trying to build team chemistry and trying to convince prospects to choose Nebraska over its competitors.
  9. I agree...I would take BB and his record/qualifications over Frost or any other assistant any day. Ideally you would be able to have both the personality and the great record, but if I had to pick from the two, I'd choose the better record/experience over the personality factor.
  10. I would be pleased with BB. I didn't really think he would leave Arkansas as he's got them on the rise very quickly, but I agree with the 1620 analysis that it would be much easier for him to be in the playoff discussion in the Big Ten West than the SEC West.
  11. Isn't Shaw a Stanford alum? I doubt he would want to leave his alma mater which just competed in the Rose Bowl and has been in the top 10 in the prior year.
  12. I agree with you here. Richt seems to have the same issue winning the big game at Georgia that Pelini had at Nebraska...have no idea why we would go after him. I also would give Frost a C-rating as I just don't want to have on the job training. Briles, Patterson, Mullen, and Tressel would all be A hires for me if we are talking coaches with college head coaching experience.
  13. Sure but Frost has been an OC for two years. Two years is not a lot of time to transition into the HC job at Nebraska. Way too risky imo. Somebody who has been a head coach has had full responsibility for all aspects of the program/team. They've had to pick and choose assistants, in some instances fire assistants. They have ultimate responsibility for offense, defense, special teams, recruiting, etc... They likely have learned lessons from prior stints to take with them for their next job. I think any CEO or leader of any organization will tell you that it's difficult to walk into a highly visible lead role and not make a lot of mistakes. Could Frost come in a do well...perhaps. But I have a greater confidence level in someone who's been there before.
  14. The #1 priority for the next head coach is that they must have prior head coaching experience. Nebraska is not a place for on the job training. This would rule out Frost and any other assistants in my mind.
  15. Tressel is my top choice (as it appears many others). What he resigned over is small potatoes in this crazy day and age. I have to say that Mullen might be my 2nd choice given what he's been able to do at Miss St.
  16. Other sources have said Florida has vetted him but is NOT their top choice, but simply on their list. I really think the reason that SE ended this now instead of after the bowl game is the fact that Florida and likely Michigan will also be going after the same top names. I think Bo and Muschamp are prime examples that great college assistants don't make great head coaches at a big-time program. They really need to learn and prove themselves as a HC at a smaller school first.
  17. I didn't know much about SE prior to this press conference, but I am thoroughly impressed with this guy, his tone, his rational thought process, how he addressed each question, etc... It gives me great confidence that he will pick the right guy
  18. I'm listening to 1620 (the zone), and the players received a rather long email today with the news. Eichorst said he wanted to give them the news at the same time in person in Lincoln, but many players were out of town for the off weekend, and it wasn't possible to bring them all together this morning. Honestly, in this day and age, it's impossible to make this large of an announcement on short notice to a large football team. I think the way SE is handling this is just fine. They found out in a Tweet!?! Classy...that's how real men do it...now...I guess... They found out in a Tweet!?! Classy...that's how real men do it...now...I guess... They found out in a Tweet!?! Classy...that's how real men do it...now...I guess...
  19. I think he will be buying a gift for the new coach first before posting his next article.
  20. I think it's good for the players to get out their feelings. They all liked their coach, but for many of them, they enjoyed being a Husker, period. It will take everyone some time to transition and work through the emotional cycle.
  21. I think there are many fans who wanted NU to go in a new direction, AND that also don't want to see Frost or any other assistant be out next head coach. From what I am seeing, most fans would prefer Tressel or Colorado State's coach.
  22. Well, for one, the players would get up for playing for him. It would help provide a sense of calm as we try to land our final recruits. And it would help add a positive vibe for our new direction.
  23. Given that Pelini has been fired, I'm wondering who will coach Nebraska's bowl game. I think it would be great to see the old coach at it once again, and might help with the transition period to a new coach.
