  1. Whenever I read about how sh**ty our talent is, I think of that 2004 defense that had something like 9 or 10 NFL players on it. Or how Suh was languishing before getting proper coaching. Bad coaching can disguise good talent.
  2. Here's a link. http://nebraska.247sports.com/Season/2016-Football/Commits I'm on phone, but as I recall, it was 23, 22, 25 and 24 commits working from 2016 back to 2013.
  3. For all those who think our talent sucks, how do you propose that NU bump its recruiting so significantly?
  4. You owe it to a team of players to play the guy who gives you the best chance to win. If it's a even match, then consider the redshirt situation.
  5. For one thing, based on a spot check, that site shows 24 recruits in 2014: http://www.huskermax.com/recruits/2014.html 247 lists 94 commitments between 2013 and 2016.
  6. Really none at all. And they ignore that we have scholarship players sitting behind them - so whose fault is it if those guys aren't prepared to compete? No one's? Just because we don't want to burn shirts doesn't mean the coaches are at fault they aren't ready. Which redshirt freshman and sophomore players' redshirted are they protecting?
  7. It's amusing to me how people are like "throw away the recipe of that worked because it can't work anymore and instead use a recipe that's never worked ever."
  8. 2016 - 21 2015 - 22 2014 - 18 2013 - 19 with just a quick glance, 2014 and 2013 had like 2-4 JUCO recruits which would have inflated the 2015/2016 classes slightly. think 2013 and 2014 also had a couple that didnt make it to campus or flamed out right after they got to campus bolstering the following classes as well. now to compare and contrast, i believe the counts are 91 for osborne and 80 for pelini/riley. Your numbers don't appear correct based on 247 lists.

  10. your advocating the exact thing that youve claimed has been our biggest problem. fire the coaches....again and again and again. If you paid attention, I've not yet called for firing this staff. Not once. I said that if they finish 9-3 or better, I would accept that as a solid season - granted, I didn't see OSU ending coming like that, but bad losses happen. My point is that this roster has enough talent that it should have kicked some Indiana type teams in the face and played OSU tougher. The fact that they haven't is 100% on this coaching staff. One final point: I've actually said, don't fire a coach just because you hope you can land better. But, if you know you can land better, you should absolute fire the coach.
  11. Considering the season they had last year, and the season they're having this here, I'd say we're seeing considerable progress and success. They had one bad night. Deal with it. From a quality of play aspect, there's almost no difference between last year and this year. A few breaks went bad last year that have gone better this year. But in neither year have I seen a staff that demonstrates an ability to put guys in a postition to dominate weaker teams or manufacture wins over better teams.
  12. "Rebuilding" a program that was .700+ prior to arrival. I call bullsh#t. I'm so sick of people slamming our players like this. It's not a coach from two years ago's fault that this staff won't play young guys or prepare their guy's adequately for games like this or grind games out in an effort to manufacture wins rather than just running what the card says they should. Look at the recruiting rankings. Look at the games this season against weak competition. Then try to make a straight faced argument that this is about talent wearing helmets rather than the talent wearing headsets.
  13. What happens when firing good coaches for mediocre ones becomes a habit.
  14. Yeah, it's good to see him succeeding. Frank has his team at first in his division (delivered some win his fan base hadn't seen since the 60s). Frost has show immediate improvement at UCF. Last iI checked, Gill was having a solid season at liberty. Pelini's penguins appear to be improving - they have one of the best D's in FCS. Good to see Husker coaches succeed.
  15. So you're just ignoring attrition now? How many kids have been signed to NU in the past 4 years? How about on average at an SEC school?
  16. Your rant is super misplaced. And it doesn't sound like any college kid I know. "Riley represents me." That's a sweet sentiment, but it's not believable. Seems more like a AD post.
  17. Agreed. Love the passion they have for this team but we can't get it done with 3 walk-ons starting. Regardless of injuries, we need depth. A major concern for his team because they are all young. On the Bright side..they are talented. OSU stated like 10 sophomores or younger. A number of them were freshman. If our talent is so bad, why didn't Riley's first class of lineman get time?
  18. Texas in '09 was definitely better than this tOSU team. Most definitely. If McCoy doesn't go down in NC, they probably beat Alabama and derail or at least delay that dynasty.
  19. Google "why recruiting services are bullsh#t" and you'll find a hell of a lot of materials. Hell, even lemming speaks of their limited value. Yep. Because everything on the Interweb is absolutely true. No, not everything. But anyone with a sense of logic can see the flaw in trusting recruiting services. They are entertaining and I have to admit they've done an effective job of monetizing the off season. But they are a joke when it comes to assessing anyone outside of the top 150 or so players in the country.
  20. And the number of quality in state recruits has to be constant over time?NU also used to have more scholarships available so could afford to take more chances on in state kids. What was the last class of Nebraska high school kids that turned out 5+ legitimate Power 5 contributors? Since 1973, in what year did Tom Osborne sign more recruits than he would have been allowed to under current rules? Every year up to 1992 when the limit was dropped to the current 85Incorrect. Almost all of tom's classes were below 25.And so are most of our classes now. There were 10 extra scholarship. Thus he could sign more kids than he could have now. 2-3 per year, depending on how things worked out. Yet he didn't. Look at the numbers.Where is your list of how many he signed each year? Husker max has the lists. I've summarized before - will search for the previous post.
  21. Tonight sucked, and the game was heading down a bad path before TA went out, but you are way off base. Riley has at least 4 more years left at Nebraska. Were starting to compete with Ohio state on the recruiting front. We are? Ohio State has the #1 ranked class while NU is in the 20s.Compare our recruiting class last now to the numbers under our former head coach. That is all. They are essentially similar. Will be interesting to see if they stay that way.
  22. Utter bullsh#t. We were not. Quit player blaming. Armstrong, for example, is better than Barnett.
