  1. There are probably a few coaches that could, but NONE of them would be able to bring down powerhouses like Iowa and Minnesota. So lets fire our coach every year they lose to Iowa or Minny. Got it. No, every time we loose…fire everyone on staff. If we give up 100 yd rusher, fire the DC, if we score less than 42 pts per game, fire the OC, a missed field goal, fire the ST coach then pull the kickers scholarship. Oh yeah, if my Vals Pizza at the game isn’t cheesy enough, fire the kid working in the concessions stand then kick him square in the nuts….Seriously. All joking aside, this was a well written opinion piece by Hoopwood. I agree with a lot of what he said and he basically summed up a lot of what other people on the board have been saying. OWH sports columnists write a bunch of trash anyway and have ZERO credibility with me, I guess they are entitled to their opinion but most times it is to the detriment of the program in my opinion. My opinion is that Bo is a detriment to the program.
  2. I can't believe that some people are patting Bo on the back for winning 8 games. Does this guy really think that there are not many coaches that are capable of beating Wyoming, Southern Miss, SDSU, Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern, Michigan, and Penn State?
  3. SJB over Dennard? Can you imaging a DL w/ Gregory, Crick, Suh and Martin? Dear God. We are about to have about the closest to that equal in 2015. Gregory, Clinkscales, Valentine, Newell. Moss >>>> Newell
  4. STAND UP AND SHOUTTTTT! Has to go. It sounds stupid and it is played 20 times every game. A sound system upgrade is needed. Here is what I think would help: More big plays on defense and special teams. The crowd is not going to get pumped up without Uncle Mo in the house.
  5. Why do you have to be one or the other? From midseason on, I was saying I would be fine both ways. I see that our season, in large part, didn't go as planned with the injuries we had. However, I would have been fine if the AD thought we needed a change too. I think there are more fans like me than you are acknowledging. That's fair. But I think the fact that you would be fine with a change says something. I just believe everyone needs to be on the same page in order for us to have momentum going forward. Unless you are a major booster, the only way this affects the program is the time and emotional drain it puts on people inside the program. It also affects recruiting. Various members of the media try to imply that the majority of the fan base is on one side or the other. THEY also gain by the perceived divide in the fan base because it draws readers to their articles every time they write about it. SO...it is in their best interest to keep the topic of Bo's job on the front burner. Remember that next time you read articles from either side. The ones who control the program appear to mostly all be on the same page. THAT is what is most important. We as fans can have our opinions. But, it becomes a problem when fans think they have more power than they do or should have. That is when decisions by the administration become reactionary to the fan base instead of what is really healthy for the program. Good points. Part of me makes me think that the administration is on the same page simply because they have to be right now. I believe there was some truth to the rumors about Eichorst sending feelers to potential coaches. Bo did not act as if he was on the same page after the Iowa game. I do not know why he would make the comment "If they want to fire me, they can fire me" if he did not think it was a possibility. It is very possible that they did not have a proven coach lined up so we are just kind of stuck in this situation. Now that everything is out on the table we can move forward, but the uncertainty was not healthy for the program. There might not be a complete divide in the fan base, but we are far from being united.

  7. Good to see you're picking up what I'm putting down. The fanbase is not united in any way right now. My other concern is that if all of this continues for another 7 years or so, what is everyone going to expect out of this program? There will be people in there 20s and early 30s who never experienced the glory days of Nebraska football. I am just trying to take a step back and see what everyone wants and expects. I do sense a feeling of apathy from lots of fans because bad losses and negative press have become normal. Nothing seems to be changing. I just can't think of any recent, successful program that was not innovative in some way.
  8. How is he a dick to the fans exactly? He may not be warm and fuzzy enough for some of you, but that's not being a dick. I'm not talking about an old scrap of audio when he was privately venting about the douches in the stadium that were booing his team at half time and didn't stick around for the come back. We've all had those moments venting about a friend, parent, child, spouse, boss, employee or whatever that we'd be ashamed of if they were recorded and played publicly. I've asked this before and still haven't gotten a meaningful answer. Aside from getting on his knees and kissing your ass at the coffee shop, what exactly do you expect him to do differently? Just be a better representative of the state. Whether or not you agree, no one likes Bo Pelini outside of Nebraska. No one wants to hire him, the local and national medias are against him. Bo is the only thing that people know about Nebraska right now. He has not done anything to me personally. I just want someone who gives us a positive perception from a national perspective. I do not think Bo is doing that. That's B.S. Your comment shows that you are speaking from your own opinion and not the perception of those on the outside of Nebraska. The way he runs the program is a great representation of "Nebraska". The dumb things that many fans complain about from Bo, I've seen much much worse from many Nebraskans in day to day life. My job takes me back and forth from Nebraska and Texas throughout the year and I have conversed with many fans of other programs and I honestly have yet to hold a conversation with more negative thing said about Pelini by any of them than I've hear from the some so-called Husker fans on message boards. Bo is no saint. That's never an argument, but he is a passionate man, who is passionate about his players, and want them to succeed on and off the field as much as their own parents would like them to. He is willing to step in the way of ridicule to defend each and every single one of them both right and wrong as well as get in their face about issues. I have yet to speak to someone whom has actually had a personal encounter with Pelini speak of him in any negative light. It's always the ignorance of those who simply feed off of the media's perception who try to be verbal about him not representing the Nebraska way. The day some sanction comes down on his program or the players openly begin to present themselves as less than respectful citizens, or the graduation rate on his team drops, etc......then I'll join the group suggesting that he isn't representing the state correctly. I am not some simpleton that believes everything that the media says. I guess the conversations that we are having are just totally different. Perhaps that is a reflection of our personal opinions in some way. For the people outside the state, they do not know anything about our graduation rates or Bo doing it the "right" way. They see the blowups, the blow outs, and the press conferences. I tend to think that perception does matter and at times there is some truth to it. I applaud Bo for his emphasis on life outside of football and education. Those are honorable things. You just don't see those things on the news because those kind of things are expected out of coaches. There is only a handful of coaches that I would place in the total scumbag category. The whole other part of it is that Bo's whole process is taking a long time and people, including myself, are getting restless. People got restless when Dr Tom could not beat Oklahoma, but that was his only hurdle. I think we have lots of issues to overcome and after 6 years we might only be half way there.
  9. I refuse to accept there are actual hard-line "boleavers and boleivers." I think almost everyone falls somewhere in the middle of this. As for polarizing figures, Bill C. when the wheels were about to fall off the wagon is probably the most. Steve P. when he fired Frank is also up there. I don't think Bo can hold a candle to either of those two in regards to polarizing figures. As far as characterizing the two sides as one is desperate and the other being apathetic, much of that is drummed up by the media and the message boards. NO ONE was behind Bill when the wheels fell off. No one was defending Steve P when he got canned. Where have you seen the media talk about one side of the fans being desperate and the other apathetic? How would you characterize the different types of fans if you disagree?
  10. How is he a dick to the fans exactly? He may not be warm and fuzzy enough for some of you, but that's not being a dick. I'm not talking about an old scrap of audio when he was privately venting about the douches in the stadium that were booing his team at half time and didn't stick around for the come back. I do not think Bo is doing that.
  11. I don't know what Bo's real attitude towards fan is, but I doubt he is holding the fans in high regard right now. The haters are as loud as ever. Reporter: "Bo, lots of fans were giving you support as you went into the tunnel, what does that mean to you?" Bo: "It's great." I understand that emotions were high and he was upset blah blah blah. He is only hurting himself by acting like this and he is not as transparent as he might think.
  12. That tells me what side you are on. Get out of the 90's bud. Turmoil is consistently losing seasons. We are 1 of 4 schools that has not won less than 9 games since 2008. That is not turmoil. That is where we disagree. For me, it is not just what we do it is how we do it. As for that stat you posted, it could very well end this year. Lots of people are picking out my use of the word turmoil so maybe that was not a good word choice. At the very least, I do not think we have any momentum and we have stagnated. I believe that to be a serious issue. I think that our national perception matters and others do not. As for the wedge, it is debatable as to which side it leans. You cannot ignore the elephant in the room. Most of the people that I talk to on a daily basis agree with me. An online poll was pretty even after 15,000 votes. That says something.
  13. Trying to be civil. There is a wedge driven between our fans right now. In my opinion, I think that Bo is an average coach and a poor representative of Nebraska. The other side of the spectrum is behind Bo 100%. Each side makes fair points and I respect everyone's opinion. Has there ever been such a polarizing figure in Nebraska football (or state) history? We are at the point now where each side has differing views on what is acceptable and what is not. The Boleavers say: We have no identity, we are regressing, we are irrelevant, Bo is an embarrassment, we can do better, we deserve better. The Bolievers say: College football has changed, its not the 90s, we expect too much, Bo's players and their families love him, his "embarrassing" actions do not matter, the media has always been against him. Right now, we are a program in turmoil. No one is right or wrong. One side is desperate, the other side is just apathetic to what Nebraska football has become. Right now, a 13-year-old Nebraskan has never experienced a conference championship. This is all the younger generation of Husker fans know. If something does not happen soon we will slowly fall further into the abyss.
  14. You must have missed the 3 games at home this year that we lost.
  15. Bo's responsibility is the team and the program he is paid to be over. No where in his contract says that he has to be cuddly to the fans. Especially since those fans can be as bi-polar as his actions are when responding to them. We as fans pay for the team to entertain us. Nothing more. We do not sign his checks. The since of entitlement is quite comical, IMO. Fans are not part of the program in any way? He should not try to get those 92,000 fans in Memorial Stadium on his side? I was at the Iowa game, it was a ghost town. We do not have a home field advantage anymore. You might pay for purely entertainment purposes, but for lots of Nebraskans it is about much more. Everyone knows that.
  16. I agree that every program has to deal with this kind of stuff. If you listen to the post game interview you would think that Bo was coaching 2012 Penn State or that a player on the team had died or something. "It is incredible what we have gone through" is what he says. He is a victim of his own actions. Instead, he chooses to displace blame onto the media. It is truly pathetic behavior for a man that is being paid $3 mill a year to be the face of our program and our state.
  17. Apparently it is an issue. The members of the media are fans. Bo said that their stories have affected the football team. "Let's call a spade a spade."
  18. The result he has put on the field is average at best. He can't have his cake and eat it too in this situation. Like you said, Saban gets a free pass because he is winning titles. Bo is getting embarrassed by teams like Iowa, making a fool of himself and Nebraska on national tv, and he is unapologetic about everything. He does not even have the slightest clue as to why people in this state dislike him. He just thinks we expect too much, and some people do. All he has to do is win some big games and not act like an a-hole and he would not have as many haters.
  19. Bo did not recruit them. WTF is wrong with you?
  20. it takes a lot of courage to admit you were wrong. maybe i was trying too hard to be funny. glad that is over with. Now, can we see some other versions of the all-Bo team? good catch on the irony in my posts stpaulhusker ill need to look for that moving forward
  21. If your name didn't translate to a slippery sac of lubricating fluid you'd have a better chance. elbow bursitis was a plague in ncaa football 2003-2008 on ps2. there is a correlation
  22. So this website is a bunch of internet funny guys? I joined this site to have informative discussions about husker football. Instead, everyone calls me EZ and says that I am trying too hard to be funny.
  23. Not sure who EZ is but I am not him. Does anyone else have an all-Bo team?
