  1. Would another beat-down on national TV help or hurt recruiting?
  2. Will $$$ come into play when Cally lays a goose egg and needs the pink slip, or are we stuck with the guy for the next half-decade because we don't have the jack to pay him off?
  3. OK I know we suck, but what's schism and chasm got to do with anything? And shizz net is a german word for "Crout in a box" isn't it?
  4. Is a chasm like a schism? Should there not be a vowel in between the "s" and the "m"?
  5. great post but what's a schism?
  6. Please tell me I woke up from a bad dream... I saw Pederson frantically searching for a coach - any coach that might take the job. And he found one - an NFL flunkie. But it became a nightmare when Nebraska was one dropped pass away from losing to... BALL FREAKING STATE???? BALL FREAKING STATE !!! BALL FREAKING STATE???
  7. All I can say is when we get to the point that people don't even care to "bash" the Huskers, the program will be effectively dead.
  8. Yeah - against two mid-majors, and against the USC scrubs when the game was over. Wake Forest was hardly an offensive show. As the season goes on, I'm afraid the offense that we think is so good is going to look a lot like the offense during the first 3 quarters of the SC debacle. No run, all pass. Heck I'd take mediocre at this point.
  9. Callahan isn't going to work out. The question is, when will the powers that be come to that conclusion?
  10. Well, I guess all that spring and pre-season hype is in the toilet. We could win out, or we could lose out; the chances are greater of the latter. But in any event, here's my prediction (games not necessarily in order): ISU - W MO - L Okie State - W A&M - W KSU - L Colorado - W Texas - L Kansas - L We'll finish 7-5, with all of the wins against sub-.500 teams. What bowl does that qualify us for?
  11. Everyone needs to keep some perspective on the NU situation after the Ball State Game. If we take a quick trip down memory lane and compare to the Tom Osborne era, things actually look pretty good: - In Osborne's first year, 3 players had to go to the locker before halftime to relieve themselves. So far this year, NONE. Zero!!! - In Osborne's first year, there was one play where we had a 60 yard bomb completed on us, much like today. No big deal! - In Osborne's era, we had safeties making tackles several times per game. We have improved GREATLY in this area - our safeties are making tackles MOST OF THE PLAYS. - In Osborne's era, the offense was set up to confuse the opponents; under the Callahan era, the offense has done one better and confused the COACHES. Hang in there and keep the faith - we are MILES ahead of Tom Osborne's teams. Just look at some facts!
  12. If we could cut that down to 400 yards offensively we would have won by 2 TD's!!!! Cosgrove has to go!!!! And that's something against the highly-vaunted Ball State Cardinals!
  13. NO WORRIES, I THINK PEDY DONE SOLD US OUT!
  14. That says how far we are progressing, how we are actually at the same juncture as T.O. was when he was the coach, how we have 1 more first down than the last game, blah blah blah. There's always one or two willing to offer this b.s. up, so go ahead.
  15. I thought I might re-post this from a few years ago. Back when you all hazed me for posting it. Starting to look like the truth.
  16. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this.
  17. I hate to be pessimistic, but just assuming for a moment that Nebraska suffers lopsided losses at Mizzoo and Texas, loses a tight one to either KSU or KU, misses the Big 12 North, and gets invited to the Independence Bowl... Do Callahan & Company return for 08? BTW, I think the above scenario is a distinct possibility, as bad as I hate it.
  18. +1. Blackshirt is just a fan affinity thing nowadays - something else to screen print on a cheesy t-shirt.
  19. Nebraska has the athletes to win big - just look at the last few years' worth of recruiting classes. Nebraska's coaching is substandard. That will keep in them on the outer fringes of the top 25. NU reminds me a lot of OU during the John Blake years. Talent galore, but the coaches didn't know how to maximize the talent or motivate the talent. Callahan will be good for 8-9 wins a year from now on. Those wins will come mostly at home, and a dog bone or two on the road. If you expect a Callahan coached team to go toe-to-toe with the big boys, you're going to be disappointed. Finally, NU has a couple more beat-downs in the cards for this year. Get ready for it.
  20. Classy move to make, but an easy one too, since they usually wear red shirts. ???
  21. I abandoned the Callahan ship three years ago in Lubbock, and have never re-boarded. He's not a good coach. But he's going to be with us for a while.
  22. Let's turn back the clock and read a few of Bill Callahan's first quotes as head coach, as well as a few for the ages by Steve Pederson, shall we? The quote, and then a little dose of reality: Cally said "We want to be competitive immediately." What he forgot to add is "...and competitive is a relative term." What Pedy said was "I refuse to let this program gravitate toward mediocrity." What he meant was "This program is going to sink into mediocrity not only in 2004, but also 2005, 2006, 2007?, 2008?, 2009?" What Cally said was "We take what we want." What he meant was "We don't take anything. Hopefully our players and home field will allow us to take a few home games - at least against cupcakes." What Pedy said was "Rebuilding isn't acceptable. We want to be successful immediately." The truth is, 4 years later, I only wish we could claim we were rebuilding. What Pedy said was "We want to win the Big 12 championship." What he meant was we will never win the Big 12 championship with the clown I'm hired."
  23. I think Coz and Callahan are both jokes. Unfortuately, the joke from Pederson is on Husker Nation.
