  1. I would think all of our wide receivers, tight ends and Fyfe and Stanton, Armstrong must be thinking about transferring...
  2. Only rushed if there were other options but it seems like Mike was the person all along...just had to wait for the standard University posting laws or whatever and then announce it.
  3. I'm willing to give him a chance, the more I learn about him and see the reaction of the national media, I am thinking this could be a good hire. Better than the prick Bret B., that's for sure. I hope he brings in a good staff and maybe if I can dream Frost too but I doubt it. I like his personality though and his demeanor will be a breath of fresh air, so looking forward to that part. But if it does fail, I can just see Eichorst and Riley getting fired in 3-4 years and TO stepping in and hiring Frost:)
  4. Was this a master plan of Wisconsin's? Alvarez and Eichorst? This set NU back 10 years and Eichorst ends up at Wisky in 5 years..... Can you imagine if this was true? We go into the tank and then Eichorst leaves for the Wisconsin job in 2 years. OMG...
  5. Thought the same thing seeing all the times they were using "reputation" and "good for our college athletes" etc in the their press releases, this seems more like a non-football hire in some regards. More about Mike Riley the person. Wonder if there was more to Bo's non-company man persona then we know???
  6. I agree, I am not upset just feel like we all got punched as this was so out of left field, will be interesting, part of me is excited as I don't know anything about him...wow.
  7. Kevin Sjuts ‏@kevinsjuts 7m7 minutes ago Scott Frost's dad tells 10/11 Scott knows Mike Riley well. Interpret as you wish... Only thing to save this hire, bring in Frost as OC and coach-in-waiting, so this would be sort of a Tressel/Frost combo we imagined and hoped for. He's 61, give him 5 years and then let Frost take over...
  8. Tommy probably just transferred and Fyfe and Stanton are jumping up and down...
  9. I am just stunned. A part of me thinks hiring a crusty-old 61 year-old who has a great reputation might just be so under-the-radar and WTF move by our AD that it will turn out to a great hire but the other part of me is just like "what just happened?" I'm sort of glad we didn't just hire someone who everyone told us to hire or was on all the boards but this is just so out of left field. And don't records speak for themselves a bit? His record is just so medicare and from other boards I am reading a lot of "hahah, NU is now stuck with him." I don't know what to believe? I kept thinking the at the end of the article it would read "Scott Frost is coming as the coach-in-waiting OC" but um, no:( Wow, just wow...
  10. Since you are new here too and you think I am hilarious and smart, do you want to be friends on here? I'm afraid my mom said not to make friends with strangers or trolls:(
  11. Donny reminds me of my Commodore 64 back in the day, limited capacity but fun to have around.
  12. I'm a football expert followed by I haven't followed football for very long. Brilliant. This post/Donny is one of the funniest threads yet!
  13. please let this be true, this is about the last guy I would want coaching next year in Lincoln. Also, it smacks of our AD just hiring a buddy or someone from the Wisconsin system and not taking this search seriously...
  14. Couldn't agree more. Did Eichorst just want to hire his Wisconsin guy and that's what this was all about? I would lose so much interest in our team with this hire. The guy just looks/sounds like a prick and just UGH:(
  15. With Tressel looking like he's off the boards, I am 100% on the Frost train. I don't agree with all the posts worried about his lack of head coaching experience, he's played at the Division 1 level and won a freaking championship, was coached by Bill Walsh, Tom Osborne, Bill Parcells, Bill Belicheck and Chip Kelly. Has coached both sides of the ball and has a passion for the game, is not married or with kids so incredibly dedicated and has time to dive right in, pleasant and professional demeanor, knows and understands the landscape here and to me, is an absolute perfect fit. This video does a great job summing it up as well: http://sports.yahoo.com/video/bonnfire-perfect-replacement-pelini-020323550.html
  16. i was with you until the bolded part. It would be great if we had a coach that was good enough to take the reigns at NU that worked under Tom, but we don't. So hireing another inexperienced guy just cause he wore a jersey here is going to lead us to repeat the Frank/Bo era's. Walk on's donn't win sh#t, they fill in if your first and second string players get hurt. If you are using them for anything more, you are going to be a middle of the pack four or more loss team. What is the tradition of Nebraska then if you don't care about the walk-on's and other aspects of NU that set us apart from other schools and traditions? I want to win but I don't want to win by just being Alabama of the midwest. I know that sounds stupid, and I am sure this will get quoted, but there's always been something special about the Huskers, the school, the fans, the coaches, etc. and I would like to keep that alive. So hiring someone with some ties to the state or program just makes sense to me...
  17. I agree with this poster, in fact I just registered to make this comment. I have been rooting for the Huskers since late 1970's and haven't missed a game on TV or in person or the web since. I count down the days until the season starts to get myself through our awful Arizona summers here. So not a fair-weather fan in any shape, way or form. I was happy when Bo was hired as he had a connection to Nebraska and seemed like he had the passion and energy to return us back to national prominence. However, it's been 7 years and the results are the same EVERY single year. And I don't by into this "you can't fire a coach who has 9 wins" as it takes a much wider perspective than this for the AD when making up his/her mind on coaches. The mental breakdowns, the lack of discipline, the absolute unbelievable way we come out in the second half of games with no improvements or adjustments??? It all adds up to a need to make a change and to do so after this season is over. I would rather struggle a bit with a new coach than to keep repeating these losses and seasons for another 7 years. I know I won't be popular with this, but I would like to See Frost come as either the HC or OC but with maybe a coach-in-waiting tag. I think it's important to hire someone with NU ties so we don't go through another Callahan era where we stop the walk-on program and alienate the entire alumni's. I think we get Tressel and sign him to a 5 year contract with Frost as the OC and then let him take over after Tressel is done.
