  1. At this point, Tennessee's coaching prospects qualify for serious consideration solely on the basis of whether or not they are capable of wearing orange.
  2. You remind me of my mother. Her philosophy is "Blessed are the pessimistic, for they shall not be disappointed."
  3. You must have missed the link to the article (somewhere back in the mists of this thread) about how SF called Knight to get spiffy new uniforms for UCF when he arrived, and how Knight did him the solid.
  4. I'm a few pages behind, so maybe somebody has already linked this, but NU's Adidas contract was just re-upped and goes another 11 years: http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/nu-regents-approve--year-million-deal-to-keep-huskers/article_ae6e23de-7ea1-11e7-8e2e-477ffaff284e.html
  5. OT, but "Why isn't Bo Pelini mentioned in more coaching searches?"
  6. If this is true (and no reason to doubt Hedley Lamarr) then Moos has done a masterful job of playing his cards. The interest in Fuente provides a nice counterweight to Frost's getting TOO crazy with his contract demands, as well as being a decent fallback if necessary. How is Fuente not on some of these other school's short lists?
  7. Last projection that I saw put UCF vs TCU in the Cotton Bowl. That would be a great matchup, IMHO. UCF vs Ohio St I would be interested in seeing (personally), but frankly I don't want the Big10 or Ohio St. getting an early preview of Nebraska's 2018 game plan against THEM.
  8. I'm having trouble finding the UCF AD giving SF 24 hrs to decide in the NEWS. Did that really happen, or is that a board rumor from somewhere? That seems like a bad look for UCF forcing their own team distraction when trying to secure a championship & Big Dollar bowl bid. It seems to me that UCF has an economic incentive to give SF until after the championship game, at least. SF's contract gives him a $200K bonus for winning his championship & a major bowl game. The way the dominos have fallen, it is crystal clear that Frost is coming to NU. If the UCF AD is sitting on his hands instead of searching for his next HC, that is incompetence on HIS part. A deadline should be unnecessary, UNLESS he has a coaching candidate who is uncomfortable waiting that long to get an official offer.
  9. Sorry for the Frost-free comment, but in IMHO, Tennessee should go after Les Miles.
  10. Don't know if this Orlando Sentinel opinion piece has been linked yet or not, but it is pretty amusing: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/david-whitley/os-sp-cheap-seats-david-whitley-1126-story.html
  11. This is starting to feel like a game of Musical Chairs and we have reached the point where the music has STOPPED and the scramble is ON.
  12. You got my quote while I was editing. Forgot the word "NOT" which changes the meaning a bit.
  13. I love the way TO handles these questions. He always honestly says things like "that's all I can say" (meaning, possibly, "for now") or "let's leave it at that", which means "there is a lot more I COULD tell you, but I'm not going to". He's not about self-aggrandizement, but if you don't think his role in all of this has NOT been crucial, you are fooling yourself.
  14. Posted 25 minutes ago: As dominoes fall, Frost's choice looks like Huskers or Central Florida http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/football/as-dominoes-fall-frost-s-choice-looks-like-huskers-or/article_510d696e-0473-5ff8-9845-faf47fd14f06.html
  15. I can certainly foresee Wendy's becoming an NU football partner if SF becomes HC
  16. On a slightly different topic, we can thank Eichorst/Riley for paying a coordinator Good Money (for Diaco) which opens the spending door a bit wider for future NU assistants (which will likely be useful to our next HC - hopefully SF).
  17. Without your including the post in a quote, we have no idea which post you are referring to.
  18. Frankly, this "mistake" could have been a planned move (knowing it would be questioned for clarity) just to put a bit of doubt in Scott Frost's mind that he has the job "in the bag". It would be the move of a smart negotiator.
  19. He can speak himself, but NO he didn't. Frost can't sign until his championship is over unless he wants to be a liar about no deal in place. It isn't a contract until it is offered and signed. There have been no indications that he wants anything more than his #1 Dream Job.
  20. If you were watching the news instead of posting on HuskerBoard you would have noticed that your team hired Cal's OC last night.
  21. Q: When do you take 4 tread-bare tires off your car? A: When you're ready to put the new tires on your car. To take them off a week before would render your car inoperable. Unlike other schools, Nebraska needs to send no signals that it is replacing its staff. They get paid for the lengths of their contracts regardless. Who knows how the players might feel if there was a total vacuum for a week or more.
