  1. good to see us trying to bounce back against a decent team.
  2. husker hangover... see how they do this weekend.
  3. being a lefty helps... he could start in the minors and relieve int he bigs.... add a couple mph to his fastball and the rest is just learning to pitch to great hitters.
  4. i agree, but texas could sneak in there. their schedule sets up better IMO... and they've got a game in hand right now... but they still probably have to take 2 @TCU and that's probably the killer. If they take 2 of 3 this week against OSU it's pretty cake outside of that trip to TCU. They've already played WVU and KSU who are probably the next best teams after OSU. Don't get me wrong, TCU is the better team, but Texas could VERY easily win that league.
  5. Well we're about half a run better than the school record for ERA and we just gave up 3 runs in 33 innings against a team that has GOOD odds of winning the Big 12. Don't kid yourself, our pitching is REALLY good. So is our defense. If we score 4 runs we're going to win a ton of games. That 4 run barrier is pretty much the magic number so far.
  6. http://warrennolan.com/baseball/2015/predictedrpi It's a bad guess at best at this point but it gives some idea where we'll end up if we get to 40 wins (NOT unlikely). (12th overall in RPI)
  7. Closing this out would be good for us! (master of the obvious)
  8. not perfect but i'll take it. this sets up perfect pitching wise for the rest of the weekend. if their starter doesn't step up tomorrow sunday could be ugly.
  9. talk about utterly destroying a bullpen. and they have to come back and face kubat tomorrow. NICE....
  10. well this is a statement to start the conference slate...
  11. big series here... decent odds they end up a top 100 rpi and thus a sweep will really help us down the stretch.
  12. B1G is 6th in conference RPI... which means if we win it (or even get 2nd) we're looking at a VERY good shot at hosting... just saying. best chance to jump higher in the RPI is in two weeks
  13. never complain about wins... they're not a good team but who cares... we have another shot at improving our RPI massively in a couple weeks. have to finish this tomorrow.
  14. given the relevance to rpi (and thus ncaa seeding), midweek games count the same however, as stated, the weekend series is when you'll face the best pitching. you'd probably win more midweek games if you threw your best guys then, but you'd lose many more weekend games to compensate. given the nature of the beast (freshman learning to hit and throw against much better competition) it pays to have some midweek games against lesser opponents -- not many because it kills the rpi, but you need to let them off the leash occasionally or you won't know what you have in a couple years. i personally like midweek games against teams like arkansas and KSU as well... good teams that help you get better ncaa seeding. it's hard to get a perfect schedule honestly. part of me loves playing cal state fullerton or similar every week. part of me knows a complete grinder could wear your team down. this year is probably a fairly decent balance, especially given that the big ten seems MUCH better in the rpi than they are normally (they're currently 5th in RPI among conferences).
  15. was that catch in leftcenter by that LMU centerfielder as good as it looked at first glance?
