  1. Dude, you have to start somewhere. Riley coaches up 2 stars and 3 stars at Oregon State enough that he put quite a few of them in the NFL. How bout we give him 3 and 4 stars and see what he can do? After the winning starts, the recruiting will follow. Until then, please be a fan of good things instead of a fan of bad ones. LOL -- as if I'm really a fan of bad. Give me a break. He had a team full of 3- and 4-stars this past season. We saw what he could do. Winning isn't going to improve against the big boys until we get the recruits who can match up against the big boys. Finishing in the 20s or 30s isn't going to lead to any consistency against the big boys, as the past 15 years have proven.
  2. And as far as being in a frat goes, many players have been in frats as well. So yeah, nice try, but you fail again. I guess next you're gonna try to make fun of the fact that I live in Louisiana?
  3. Damn, never knew HB was full of such witty guys. Same guys who were bitching and moaning last year after each of our 7 losses. That quote is actually a well-known college football fact. Maybe sometime when you take a vacation from Never-never Land you can do some research. And as far as Richt goes, he's won more championships and games of importance over the past 15 years than we have, so I'd probably take his advice. Anybody wanna bet that Miami has a better year than we have?
  4. I don't "expect" anything. You assume too much. All I know, based on facts, is that in order to win championships you need to have at least 3 straight years of Top 15 recruiting classes. We've had none of those, and this year, despite all the promises that were made, we aren't going to reach it, either. All we're doing right now is spinning our wheels but not making any progress. Not sure why that's so hard for some people to understand. You can't say you're OK with the recruiting classes barely cracking Top 25, but then be upset when we barely crack Top 25 in the end-of-season rankings. Can't have it both ways.
  5. Sure am. I was president of a frat in college, so I know how to have a good time. I also know the truth, and sometimes it hurts, whether you want to hear it or not. Funny thing is, you guys will act like this class is OK and everything is fine and I'm just a pessimist, but yet you'll be the same ones complaining when we only win 6 games.
  6. quote="Might as well just give up on being a fan my friend. We're never gonna win another championship. Why bother." Not getting recruiting classes ranked in the 20s/30s/40s you're not. That's not just me saying that; that's fact.
  7. So 1 random guy on the internet predicts a top 15 class and in your logic that means that you are personally assured of a top 15 class? Actually no, multiple random guys; however as stated prior I'm not digging through my entire post history to find them. If you want to search further, knock yourself out. Once again I reiterate that it doesn't matter if we finish in the 20s, 30s, or 40s; none of them are good enough. Orgeron is down here snagging 5-stars right and left and we're feeling fortunate about landing 3-star guys. Sorry but you're not gonna win championships with that mentality, as history and facts have shown. We had the chance to land Orgeron, one of the premier recruiters in the country, and we failed miserably. It's as simple as that.
  8. I provided just one link. If you think I'm going to go back through every post in my post history to search for evidence, that's not gonna happen. Bottom line is, you doubted that it was ever said. Doesn't matter if one person said it or a hundred, it was said. teachercd, on 15 Oct 2015 - 5:18 PM, said: Prediction...Riley's first class: Top 15 My prediction is we'll be closer to #40 than #15. GOAT...the last 15 guys that NU might get are all studs. teachercd 15 Oct 2015 By the way, there is no way that NU comes anywhere close to finishing 40 in recruiting this year Seems pretty cut and dry to me. Fact of the matter is, it doesn't matter if we finish 25, 30, or 40. It's still not good enough, especially after all the claims that were made regarding what Riley would be able to do with all of the extra resources at his disposal.
  9. Fair enough, you answered my question. I would quivel a bit with your top 12 standard though. I ran the numbers several years ago during the BCS and it was more like top 20 bottom with top 15 the goal. There was a decided separation for those in the top 10 though, but not guaranteed, see Texas, Georgia, etc. either way I would agree that Top 25 consistently isn't quite good enough, need to be in Top 20 each year if possible. From everything I've been told, the lowest-ranked team (recruiting-wise) to win a national championship in the past 15 years over a 4-year span of recruiting was Auburn, which finished at #12. Like it or not, for the most part, stars do matter. Getting majority 3-stars just isn't going to cut it nowadays.
  10. Stop with this. How did we "let Orgeron slip through our grasp"? He was out of work and was throwing his name for a bunch of jobs. He found a job at LSU. He is originally from Louisiana. You're telling me he would have chose a job at Nebraska over LSU? Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. At the time he expressed interest in Nebraska (December 4), LSU had no interest in him. It was over a month later (January 14) when LSU snatched him up. I live in Baton Rouge and know exactly how things went down. Like I already said, if we finish Top 20 I'll gladly eat crow; I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong. Why is it wrong for me to expect the same in return?
  11. Oh OK, so it's alright for someone to assure me of a Top 15 finish and criticize my belief that we'll be closer to 40... not only that, but I get CALLED OUT on it and told to provide proof that it was ever said. I provide said proof, and then it's, "Oh, let's change the subject." Got it. And no, Top 25 is not good enough. We've been finishing around 25 in recent years and it's not getting us anywhere. Evidence shows that consistent Top 12 finishes are required in order to win championships in today's day and age. I repeat: letting Orgeron slip through our grasp was pure idiocy. LSU will likely finish with the #1 or 2 ranked class. You can't tell me Orgeron wouldn't have been worth in weight in gold as a recruiter, especially with his ties to the south. LSU's even giving him a hefty bonus.
  12. quote="I think I have heard multiple previous accounts mention this guy...its you isn't it? Anyone else remember this???" I don't think I've ever mentioned him before, but considering that he and Dylan Moses are the hottest names in Louisiana HS football right now, I wouldn't think it's too unusual.
  13. If we finish Top 20 as I was told then I'll gladly eat a heaping helping. Are you going to be willing to do the same if we finish in the 30s or lower as I forecasted? Well first I'd like to see where you were told we will finish top 20, but then I'd just like to point out how dumb it is to declare something sad or awful when it isn't finished yet. You don't leave a movie 80% of the way through and then complain that it sucked because it didn't have a climax. You don't say that a basketball player is a bad scorer because he only has 4 points at halftime. You reserve judgment until it's complete. Reason being that it's pretty easy to predict. My exact words were, "We'll finish closer to 40 than 15." http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/76900-things-you-thought-would-be-fixed-by-now/

  15. While in New Orleans area they should offer Lowell Narcisse (2017 QB) who just decommitted from Auburn
  16. #35/45 in the recruiting rankings, that's what's wrong. People ridiculed me when I said we'd finish close to #40. They assured me we'd be Top 15, or at least Top 20. Heck, now I'm feeling like I was being generous.
  17. This is just getting worse and worse. There's no sugar-coating it; this is straight-up sad. Bottom line is, and I've been saying this for years, is that until we hire a big-name top tier coach and recruiter who kids want to play for, we're going to languish in mediocrity. Letting Ed Orgeron get away from us was pure idiocy.
  18. LSU has an in-house with him on the 15th
  19. Unless we hire a top-name coach and recruiter who can lure 4- and 5-star talent to Lincoln, then no.
  20. The reason why Maryland made the list is because Dwayne Haskins (top QB recruit) is currently committed to Maryland. However, many feel he's going to switch to Ohio State or LSU
  21. ...not all that amazing when you consider that Michigan was possibly in a worse predicament than we were a year ago.

  23. Hopefully he can find the peace in the afterlife that he wasn't able to find during his time on Earth. GOAT Nebraska RB, IMO. RIP
  24. http://www.scout.com/college/football/recruiting/story/1631786-harbaugh-spending-24-hours-no-1-kicker quote: "He told me if I had a 6-foot-3 inch piece of carpet for him to sleep on, that would be enough. I said we have guest rooms, and he said ‘Tell you what, I’ll just sleep on the floor in your room.’ I said ‘Coach, I have Penn State stuff all over my walls.’ He said, ‘Tell you what, I can help you take it down.’” Dude is nuts.
  25. It's great to be enthusiastic, IF that enthusiasm is warranted. But please tell me what at this point warrants any enthusiasm? What points towards this program getting any better? We have the 40-ish ranked recruiting class and everything we were fed -- all the "if he is given the resources to succeed it will make a huge difference" -- looks like hogwash at this point.
