One turnover all year and good special teams. If we are to beat Michigan, we need another game like last week.

If we play like we played against Northwestern, we have a very good chance at beating Michigan. Rutgers kept it really close and had a chance to tie the game at the end. I think we have a good chance to pull the upset and finally get that monkey off our backs.

This is not negative. I loved everything the team did today. No penalties in first half, OL was excellent, ST did not get in the way and had a remarkable 84 yard punt, defense dominated again, and Yant emerged as someone who can be a game changer. That is all positive. My comment was that we obviously are capable of playing well but it took two gut-wrenching losses for Frost to take action. So our issues are coaching related and not lack of talent. Hopefully, the Frost and company have the confidence to continue this performance and finally turn the corner next week against a storied Michigan team. That would be Frost’s signature win. We now see that this team can play a clean game without shooting themselves in the foot. I am sorry if you feel that my comment was negative. It was meant to be hopeful as I hope Frost finally figured things out and knows what he has to do to avoid what happened in the last two games.

I learned that all our problems are coaching issues. The talent is there but some of our coaches were trusted without supervision. Example given, Greg Austin. It took Frost practicing with them to fix their issues. It is sad that Frost let things get so bad before finally deciding to interfere and make some changes. Can you imagine what our record would have been if these changes were made after the Illinois game? Obviously Greg Austin is not a good coach and we need a dedicated ST coach to keep working with these guys. Sky is the limit if we keep playing like we did tonight. I hope this continues and carries into next game. Coaching changes are needed for this to continue. I hope that Frost realizes this now.

The sideline demeanor of this team is razor sharp focus. Where was that for 4 years? Is this the first time that Frost really showed some tough love? Even his attitude at half time interview shows that he actually cares. May be it took him being on the field practicing with OL to show he is serious. Talk is cheap…action matters and this week shows that. Let us hope this continues next week.
