  1. I talked smack, I said Michigan would thump Nebraska, and here I am. I'm true to my word to show up. Regardless of how or why Michigan lost, they ended the game in the same fashion as the rest this year. 4th quarter lead evaporated in no time just like OSU, Minn, and Wis. The officials were horrendous, Nebraska's D was tenacious, and both offenses were nothing more than error prone with a mix of good plays here and there. So to your Huskers I wish you the best, although I hope if we meet again it's for a bigger prize and no outside influences affecting the outcome.
  2. Fill a stadium with 111,000+ people and I can agree with you
  3. Common sense has to play a part here. Nobody is doubting Nebraska's loyalty to the team, but when you're in a state that has pretty much nothing for the national sports scene except Husker football, then obviously there's a large loyal fan base. As for Michigan, there is more alumni from there in this country (spread around well, too) than any other school. Michigan travels well, but for a bowl game like the Alamo, which in most of our opinions is less than stellar, it's probably not going to get the juices flowing. In Michigan we have TWO Big Ten teams. You can easily say it's split about 50/50 for State vs. UM. On top of that you have 4 major professional sports teams which take away interest (Lions...fire Millen) and we still fill the Big House against even lowly MAC teams to the tune of 110,000+. So really, this argument is moot to either side. Both universities have great support for their football teams and we'll let it be settled on the field in a few weeks. Poor Huskers can all travel 14 hours back to Omaha with a tear in their eye.
  4. Is it just me or aren\'t the coaches, specifically the HEAD COACH still a part of the team? If NU wins, UofM loses. How can NU win and only Carr lose? Call me crazy, but it sounds like y\'all are trying to hedge your bets saying something like \"we\'ll win, but if we lose it won\'t be our team\'s fault but it will be our coach\'s fault because you guys can\'t beat us\" Can the two be separated? You\'re right. And I don\'t think Cincinnati Reds fans should blame Pete Rose for betting on baseball either. Pfft... Yes, a head coach is obviously a part of a team. But if you\'ve been around Michigan the past 10 years you\'d realize that Lloyd Carr has a hard-on for not showing up his opponents. The man is 3 yards and a cloud of dust with an 8 point lead looking for a victory cigar.
  5. Wow, do we not think much? A New Year\'s Day game would bring at least a 3 day weekend for most people. Michigan, and any other program can travel well when people don\'t have to work. Let\'s change the game to Cleveland and see who travels better.
  6. Well I think it\'s probably obvious this is a home away from home game for NU. You guys can drive fairly easily to the game. On the other hand, Michigan fans aren\'t forking over money to watch a game on a weeknight in December. We can only count on the diehards and alumni in the San Antonio area to contribute. Either way, it won\'t matter.
  7. If NU were to win, I think we can all agree that it would be the worst team Michigan lost to this year.
  8. December 28 No, I meant December 29. I know the game is the 28th. Just won\'t be around a PC to gloat.
  9. Redman, What the hell are you talking about? I\'m not being objective? When did I say Michigan deserved a BCS bowl? They don\'t. As far as I\'m concerned they didn\'t deserve anything better than the Alamo. I\'m a fan, not a player or coach. I saw a good team, one with better coaching that could be BCS bound. It\'s not like we exceeded expectations. We started #4 in both polls. IMO, we should be 10-1, not 7-4. So yes, that brings disappointment. I\'m sorry in your world you can\'t be unhappy about underperforming. And trust me, I\'ll be man enough to be on these boards December 29 to discuss the game, win or lose. I like a good debate and would have no problem telling you exactly what I thought of NU. I\'ll tell it like it is, unlike most homers around here who have no clue how to type an intelligent post.
  10. I may be a die-hard Michigan fan, but I can at least view things objectively. Look, I'm happy you Husker fans finally get to see your team in a bowl again after a miserable year, but let's face it, it's the Alamo Bowl. If Michigan deserves it, fine. Although Iowa really doesn't deserve the Outback, but it's not like that's a great bowl either. As Michigan fans, we've seen BCS games 3 of the last 5 seasons. So excuse us if we're not all that excited about playing on a Wednesday night in last December against a team that considers beating Colorado "a huge win". As stated earlier, Michigan's worst loss of the year was by 7 points to Notre Dame. We're talking about a team that played as bad as it could get and still only lost by a touchdown. With less conservative coaching we're easily BCS bound instead of Ohio State. We lost to Wisconsin after having a 10 pt second half lead because of conservatism, Minnesota with a 10 pt second half lead because of conservatism, and Ohio State with a 9 pt second half lead because of conservatism. I'll accept the Notre Dame loss. The ONLY shot NU has at winning this game is if Michigan shows up in a downer mood. However, I doubt that will happen because most of our star players are back next year and will look to use this bowl game to jumpstart next season. Are we pissed? Yes. And I look forward to watching Michigan take it out on NU. I look forward to posting here December 29.
  11. This thread is comical. Michigan's defense that year rivaled any defense college football has seen since. And how dominant would they have been in that game if they had to worry about Scott Frost throwing downfield like a little girl? Our backers that year were Sam Sword (NFL), Dhani Jones (NFL), and Ian Gold (NFL), with Glen Steele (NFL) up front and Andre Weathers (NFL), Charles Woodson (NFL), and Marcus Ray (NFL) holding down the back. Now you're telling me Scott "I'm gonna get drafted to play Safety" Frost and Ahman "I hope I don't fumble" Green could throw up 30+ on that defense? Laughable. I've said it once and I'll say it a million times. The AP > Coaches anyday.
  12. As stated, Michigan is the team that gets a lead and tries to sit on it. It's like Lloyd Carr is too afraid to embarass another program. Michigan letting loose wins by 25, Michigan in reality wins by 12, and if Michigan pouts about being in the Alamo Bowl they win only by 3. Sorry Nebraksa, your Huskers gonna get shown the door.
  13. We lost both of our starting corners last year so we play more zone now. We were playing 2 freshman safeties as well. With your ground game being so weak, you can count on us keeping at least five players in passing lanes.
  14. Stats mean nothing when you play in different conferences. Michigan hardly had a running game with Hart being injured and still managed over 1800 yards. With your rushing attack being so grim, that just allows us to concentrate on the passing game.
  15. Ok Einstein. NU should have never had shared with Michigan. You kept your half because the AP all but gave it to you before NU and Tennessee even played. The coaches poll a joke? Yep, those coaches, what do they know? Not nearly as much as the press (your a joke). Michigan barely beat Washington State (21-16) in the final minutes of the game. Nebraska kicked the crap out of Manning's #3 Volunteers (42-17). Gift to TO? Once again your stock is dropping. More remembered? Your shared national championship to our three in the Nineties. When people think of the nineties, they think of Michigan. That was a nice little rant that you gave though. You almost sounded intellegent until you ended it with that "cheaters" comment. A junior high level comment. Simply booksmart huh? You might wait until after the game to talk smack (once again, visit allbuffs.com to see why). Look, I am sure the Alamo Bowl will be a good game, but it will definately not be a visit back to 1997, NU is too different. If you are upset with who Michigan is playing, tell the Wolverine coaches to win more games. Both are 4th in their conferences, so neither can complain about much. Wow, we're talking about beating a team QB'd by Peyton Manning. *Ahem* The same Peyton Manning that never won a big game....ever! 0-4 against Florida, and we're lucky enough to see him carry that into the NFL. And yes, the coaches poll has always been a joke. How many coaches give the ballot to someone else to fill out? You're probably the same fan that cries when you drop in the rankings with a win, no? I don't need to justify Michigan's season. And as stated before, I have nothing but respect for NU's program. The '94 Huskers should be considered one of the top college teams of all-time. But the '97 Huskers were no '94 Huskers.
