  1. This guy looks crazy good on film, shades of Johnny the Jet! Welcome Tyjon Lindsay! GBR
  2. He's certainly tall enough, but can he play hoops? Welcome Mr. Rafdel! GBR
  3. Looks like and excellent recruit, welcome Mr. Blades! GBR
  4. Wow, this guy's huge, has the size to play right out of the gate, provided he has the skill. A number a good teams wanted him, looks like a good get! Welcome Mr. Daniels
  5. I think we, at best, looking at 8 wins next year and that won't give us any end season ranking. WI, OSU, @ PSU, and IA are the most likely losses and if I were a betting man I would take OR, NW, and possibly MN over 2017 NE as well. Really, there are no gimmes for us next year other than possibly Rutgers and NIU. Main reason: QB position. One hopes we have big upside in the likes of POB, Gebbia, and maybe Lee, but whoever starts will essentlially be a rookie with the expected rookie mistakes. I'm also a bit concerned that even as a true frosh, POB wasn't able to beat out Fyfe for the b/u role...hmmmmm.... Nebraska has ZERO PROVEN primetime difference makers on the current roster, nor have we had any this entire century, with the exception of one Ndamukong Suh. If somebody wants to include Ameer in that category I wouldn't argue much about it. And therein lies the problem w NE football folks: we just don't get the big time players anymore, which is not to say there hasn't been a lot of quality talent, there has, and is, but we just don't get guys, on either side of the ball, that scare anybody, any of the important teams we would like to beat anyway. It looks like we're getting loaded @ WR and that's great for a couple yrs down the road, but it's going to take a lot more than that, folks. Riley, to date, has done no better than his 2 predecessors in recruiting and I don't see any special "magic touch" in terms of coaching up 3* talent. Until we get top heavy in 4* recruits and some 5* here and there, expect more of the same year in and year out for NE. NE will finish unranked and with a worse record in 2017. Look to '18/'19 for Big Red to perhaps make some noise again.
  6. Yes. Just to throw this out there. Keyshawn, who committed a long time ago and never wavered, many a time took down his Nebraska twitter banner stuff. Every time it happened, Husker fans freaked out at him on twitter and he tweeted out, you guys are crazy, I'm not going anywhere else. Sometimes the Twitter stuff is significant, sometimes it's nothing. I guess we will find out tomorrow The one thing different here is KJJ never gave the perception nor had any kind of history with flipping etc. I really feel that Jamire is doing it for attention. I mean he said he committed to OSU to see how Nebraska would react and if they would show him love still. That was brandon Reilly who said that. There is no proof and we shouldn't hold him to those rumors. I'm just astonished on how quickly people want to tear a kid down. Since when does setting realistic expectations = tearing a kid down? The kid shares one post that's pro another team and we are comparing him to a kid who left the program high and dry last year. It's unfair to refer to him as a flip flopper for decommitting from a school and joining us. Last time I checked, joining us is a good thing, right?
  7. Hi GBR Fans! New here, see my introductory statement in the, er, 'intro' thread. Soooo, Bob Diaco, eh? Nvr heard of him. Oh wait, I DID here of him peripherally, I guess, when he was HCing @ UConn, but who gives a poop about that team right? He DC'd @ ND, well, I had no clue at the time. He, like so many, talk a good game, I suppose. Sort of Ekeler type vibe, hyped up, Red Bull type thing. But, so it goes, talk is cheap, and, OBTW, how in the heck did Riley, after all those decades, suddenly realize that Banker couldnt cut the mustard @ NU? I mean, didn't he know that going in? Even the fans had an inkling of that, as per 'spy' info from Beav fans. Well, another coach gets in, gets out, and makes a fortune @ NE. Banker, I'm sure, is laughing all the way to the, wait for it...bank. And 3-4 D, ummmm, I dunno about that. Like how's that gonna hold with agin' all them road graders named "Wisconsin" and "Iowa" and "Meechigan" and and and... Well, WTF do I know, right? 3-4 is the new cool thing because, er, that's what Diaco does so that's what Riley says. Coach speak plus 2 cents will get you a cup o' jo @ blah blah blah. But really, I'm old, I seen this movie before, ad nauseum. NE isnt getting the players--or enough--to compete, period. Until that changes, I dont care what coach they bring in, it wont put us over the top. We recruit ~25-30th and, low and behold, yr after yr we finish ~ 25-30th. Recruit better or bust!
  8. Wow, another 4* WR, that makes 4 in all and when have you ever seen that happen @ DONU?(ans: NEVER) It appears that after all these many years we might actually have a guy or two that can get them ball like a REAL QB do....(fingers crossed) So, great, maybe we get 'air NE 2.0" up and running, but wait, what about the rest of the team? Meh, mostly 3* haven, same ol' same ol', and until that changes we will keep playing 2nd and/or 3rd fiddle in CFB, I don't care what anybody says or what fancy new DC(et al) they bring in. Ok, well, welcome Jamire, you and your other WR buddies are a sight for sore eyes. Maybe we can generate a big time passing game, at least, now.
  9. Hi Big Red Fans! New here, been a fan since the Johnny the Jet days--saw him live and in person. Well, honestly, Big Red has pretty much fallen off the map of relevence: we just aren't getting enough, or any prime-time players anymore. Until that changes we will be playing perpetual 2nd fiddle to the likes of, well, the GOOD teams in CFB these days, you know the usual suspects. Sigh, it's sad but true. They can bring in whomever coach(es) they want, like this Diaco guy looks pretty decent, talks a good game, but until we get the Jimmies and Joes, DONU will remain on the down-down-low. Ok, well, Riley looks like he's pulling in some excellent QBs and WRs, making us potentially 'passing U', "air Nebraska 2.0, but that's about it and last time I checked, that ain't our identity, especially in November's cold and swirling winds. Riley can't even seem to get a top flight RB to come. Sorry folks, 3 star haven isnt going to cut it. We can punch our annual time card of 8-9 Ws, but we will remain in purgatory, on the outside looking in. Recruit or bust, is all I gotta say. GBR
