  1. Was posting from my phone. Sometimes it does stupid stuff like quote the last message even when i don't click on the quote link.
  2. Early on the game the announcers said he could have played today, but they wanted to give him a couple more days for it to heal.
  3. Missed the second half. Had to help my step daughter do her taxes. Will have to catch the replay.
  4. I think that's the first 3 second call I've seen all season.
  5. I'd like him to be retired by the next time we start a coaching search which would mean Hoiberg turns it around next season and stays for a long time.
  6. Dickie V has Bryce as his B1G freshman of the year. https://www.espn.com/espn/dickvitale/story/_/id/33404572/d!(k-vitale-makes-player-coach-year-picks-college-basketball-top-10-conferences
  7. It does make it kind of hard to type, but I'm a pretty crappy typist anyway.
  8. Until Bryce says he's not coming back, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
  9. It completely depends on who comes back. If both McGowens back, then 20 wins & the NCAA tournament are realistic. If not, that might be a stretch.
  10. He can be a point guard when he isn't a black hole with the ball. Unfortunately there have been too many times this season when he tried to do too much. Even the announcers last night said several times that this season he has over penetrated frequently this season. It only helps him at the next level if he figures out that the other four guys on the floor with him can play too. It's too late for the Huskers this season, but good for him to have figured it out.
  11. You are right, they were not impacted equally. The basketball team had to play 14 games in 29 days last year because of a covid outbreak. Football was more affected by the B1G's inability to make a decision on having a season or not. Fred has been worse, but the B1G has also been the best basketball league in D1 two of his three years. I've not seen anyone say that is the case in football. If it weren't for huge buyouts both would have been fired, but Moos thought throwing money at coaches solved the lack of winning issue.
  12. Verge & Webster are out of eligibility. Lakes could apply for a medical redshirt, but is unlike to come back either way. McGraw is a walk on who will probably complete his degree this spring, so I would be surprised if he came back. Who know with the other three. McGowens is a fourth year junior & the other two are a fifth year juniors and all three have played four years of college hoops. They could all technically come back, but may not. Walker was actually honored at senior night last year, so if he comes back he will get three senior nights.
  13. So it's OK to give no effort if there are no fans in the stadium/arena? Yes, it's Fred's third year, but his first year he only had one player stay from Miles' team and got the other 12 players in about 30 days. You can't possibly believe that there was significant player evaluation. He needed bodies & many of the players he got were not B1G level players - including the players Miles had coming in that Hoiberg convinced to stay committed. Year two was his pandemic, no fans year. By your logic, he gets a pass for that year. Teams in the B1G rarely turn over their entire roster every other year. Most of the time the teams that win in the conference have a ton of experience. Teams like Kentucky, Duke & Kansas turn over their rosters that fast, but do you really think Nebraska (or most of the B1G) is at the same level as those programs?
  14. If I remember correctly there were plenty of questions about effort in season three for Frost too.
  15. I would be shocked if he isn't back. I think the buyout is too big. How good the team is next year will depend on who comes back & who thinks it's a sinking ship. Wilcher & Edwards basically have no choice but to come back since they have already used their one time free transfer. I agree that Bryce should come back for another year of college basketball. He needs to be more consistent with his outside shot, get stronger & work on his ball handling/passing. With NIL he should be able to make pretty good money if he stays at NU. Not as much as in the NBA, but he will get playing time at NU and ride the pine in the NBA.
  16. Thanks! Completely forgot about Chris McGraw being a fourth year sophomore.
  17. Anyone know who will be participating in Senior Night? Verge & Webster are out of eligibility. Lakes could apply for a medical redshirt, but I don't think he will. Mayen, Walker & Trey McGowens have played four seasons of college basketball so could move on to the next phase of their careers. Mayen & Walker are actually fifth year juniors so playing another year of college ball would be their sixth year of college. Walker might come back to finish his Master's Degree since education seems important to him & his family. Mayen took three years to get an associates (two at Texas Tech & one at a JUCO), so I don't seem him caring about education much. I doubt Bryce McGowens would, even if he plans to go pro after this season.
  18. If you want to get technical, Howard started it by pressing while down 15 with under 30 seconds to go in the game. No point to do that. Just let Wisconsin's scrubs bring the ball up court & run out the clock. He was upset because Wisconsin called a TO in a game that was decided, but if it is decided why press? Howard may be a good coach, but he clearly doesn't have the temperament to be a head coach. He's threatened to kill one coach and thrown punches at another in the last two years.
  19. Howard should be suspended for the rest of the season & his employment assessed after the season.
  20. That d-bag should have been ejected and forced to walk back to Maryland.
  21. I'm not sure who they would realistically go after and have a chance to get. At this point, I'm assuming that Fred will be back next year because I don't think the athletic department wants to be on the hook for 18.5M for him with the potential to need to buy out Frost at the end of the football season. If neither of them turn it around next season they will bite the bullet and eat both buyouts, but they have to be hoping that at least one of them does manage to turn it around. We just have to hope that the players he brings in are better than the players that leave. Maybe not individually, but from a whole team concept. I still don't see anyone who will be a true point guard next season. Not necessarily a pass first guy, but someone who will actually run the offense and not feel like he has to play hero ball half the time.
  22. That's the kind of player Bryce McGowens could be if he came back for his sophomore season.
  23. My assessment may be outdated, but he is definitely not a point guard. In the Minnesota game where he is being universally praised, he had more turnovers (5) than assists (4). I understand that he would have had more assists if Mayen would have caught some of the passes he made that would have lead to layups, but part of being a good point is understanding who you are passing to. He also took some horrible shots, they just happened to go in (the pull up three & the 18 foot fade away come to mind). I'm guessing defensive win shares over values steals and doesn't take into account that he does a horrible job of fighting through/over screens. I'm not saying he's not a really good player, but I don't see him as a good point guard.
