  1. No What? No, the NIT isn't a better option? No, more practice time wouldn't be helpful? No, you don't want to see them in the NCAA and get a win?
  2. More practice for players like Watson, Palmer & Copeland won't make much difference, but Tshimanga, Allen, Akenten & Thor need all the practice time they can get. My best guess is that they end up 9-9 in conference play and 18-13. If everything goes absolutely perfect they could end up 14-4 & 23-8. I don't see any way they win at Purdue, Ohio State or Minnesota. Worst case scenario is 7-11 & 16-15. I don't see them losing to Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Rutgers, Indiana or Penn State at home. To me, @ Northwestern, @ Penn State, Michigan, @ Rutgers, @ Wisconsin, Maryland and @ Illinois are tossups. The B1G is very weak this year so it will probably take at least 10 or 11 conference wins for the Huskers to make the big dance because they blew their chances to get a couple good non-conference wins.
  3. That's why I said I'd love to see them in the NCAA's and get a win, but it might be better for the team long term to get more practice that would go with playing more games and they are more likely to play more games in the NIT than the NCAA's.
  4. In some ways the NIT would be better for the team. In theory they should last longer in the NIT than the NCAA's which would mean more practice time and leave them a "carrot" for next season. I'd love to see them in the NCAA's and get a win, but it might be better if they can play 2-4 games in the NIT than 1-2 in the NCAA's.
  5. The game is such a mismatch I can't even find a line on it. Huskers should win by 30+.
  6. We could only use Morrow if he was willing to be an undersized 4/5 (which he isn't). He somehow thinks he's going to be able to play the 3 at the next level even though his ball handling and outside shooting are horrible.
  7. Jordy had off season knee surgery so that explains some of the regression this year. Hopefully his knee gets to 100% soon. He also didn't play basketball until his sophomore year in HS so that explains some of the footwork/coordination issues. I think his biggest problem is that when he plays against smaller players and tries to back them down by putting a shoulder into their chest, they flop (see Creighton in the first half) and he gets a BS foul, so he tries to finesse his man down and by the time that happens a guard has collapsed down in a double team and he's not prepared to pick up his dribble and find the open man. He just hasn't developed the instincts of someone who played hoops all their life.

  9. And they lost again today. They will be coming in riding a 2 game losing streak.
  10. Hopefully they bring the same effort Saturday that they brought last night. If that happens it should be a good game. They need to learn to bring that kind of effort when the crowd is against them not just at home.
  11. Nobody in Nebraska recruited Daum. Not the Huskers, not Creighton, not even UNO. Even SDSU's coach though he wouldn't pan out during is redshirt year.
  12. They key will be getting them in foul trouble. They play 9/10 deep, but only 6 do any of the scoring.
  13. Jack wasn't as bad last night as in Florida, so maybe there's some hope. Jordy had offseason knee surgery, so it will take some time to get back to 100%. He has looked better as the season has progressed. Actually made a really good move/hook shot in the first half. Hard to defend pick & roll when refs let the guy receiving the pass off the pick take three steps before dribbling. Taylor & Palmer both have a tendency to take some bad shots. Usually not Taylor as much because he doesn't look to score a lot (but was last night). Zone defense seems to cause issues as it has for the last 15-20 years which leads to bad shots at the end the shot clock. Fix the zone attack, fix some of the bad shot issues. All & all a decent win. Now if they can get one or two of the next four...
  14. Clearly NCAA saves his job (especially if they win a game or more). NIT might depending on if they make a run. If they end up a 7 or 8 seed in the NIT & go one & done, then he's probably gone. If they end up a 1-3 seed an make a run (thus showing promise for next year) he probably comes back.
  15. Huskers averaging nearly 84 per game in wins, 57.5 in losses through 7 games. Clearly ball movement and tempo are VERY important for this team.
  16. Miles was a TO hire, not an Eichorst hire.
  17. I've said multiple times that when they play fast they look good. When they get stuck trying to play slow they look like crap. Not sure why they didn't try to speed up the game with Fall on the floor.
  18. Huskers better play harder today than they did yesterday or they will be playing for 7th Sunday.
  19. Iowa finally won a game in their holiday tournament, but gave up 85 to UAB. Purdue lost to Tennessee in OT.
  20. He brought in several transfers that sat out the year before (including Reggie Lynch) & got lucky that Amir Coffey decided to stay in state when he had offers from "better" schools.
  21. I'd like to see them get St John's again on Sunday in Orlando. Hopefully Miles has learned that his team plays better when they don't try to slow down their offence. They don't play good when they go 150 mph, but they don't play good at 50 mph either. Somewhere in between is better.
  22. You may be right, but it is still too early to tell. Northwestern reminds me of the Huskers in Miles' third season. Looked good the previous year because they got hot for a time, but they couldn't duplicate that hot stretch the next year.
  23. If you are looking for someone to replace Miles check out who ESPN thinks are on the rise. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/21251683/college-basketball-coaches-rise
