  1. exactly.......that was my point. Thanks for clarifying that, I guess Weasel
  2. Well, I must say I agree with a lot of the opinions on here in regards to Frazier. I lived 2 apartment doors down from him at one point and he was a jerk (and that is being nice). His brother was actually nice, but as it is well known had some "bad" habits. I could go into a LOT of details in regards to other things, but this is nor the time or place.....but growing up in Rural Nebraska and knowing how the folks are beyond places like Omaha and Lincoln......he isn't a good fit period. But, he will figure that out sooner than later and he'll end up going back to where people actually care who he is to make something of himself.......in other words, he is wasting his time at Doane. He only got the job because of who he was, and what he could do for Doane attention wise......imho. Weasel PS: I find it funny he runs his football practices like boot camps.......he was never one to push things to the limit in practice himself.....he was great, but also a "star"......I find it funny the advice he gives to his current players......lmao.
  3. Wow.......I received an email about a Husker Video today from one of my friends. So I went to the link and then surfed the site for a bit. Funny, but if that didn't show a clear "divide" in Husker Nation what does I wondered? Furthermore sadly it seems to also get personal with another site / husker fans as well.... Like what was said above though, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Even trolls. Nice to see they created their own home is honestly what I thought. Simply classless and the site speaks for itself in only furthering the divide imo. With that said I'll make a personal commitment to continue to move forward with our team and other fans. We all support the BIG RED in some way or another and it is truly sad things can get this ugly. Lets move on and thankfully there are still classy sites / fans out there that can discuss different views / opinions and yet be civil, this one included. I also believe that is the majority..hopefully. With that said it shows the good job that is being done here and speaks volumes for the members as well. Weasel
  4. Same could be said of RIVALS......talk about homers..... Weasel
  5. I won't go into whether I know for sure if Pedey offered the job to NUTT or not......but rest assured that Pedey "even" considering NUTT for the job concerned me! I know several sources in Arkansas that were incredible happy that we were about to take him and then it feel through. To this day when we discuss football our family friend is still upset that they still have him and we don't. All I can say is THANK GOD we got BC......otherwise we were screwed. Personally, I don't think Pedey is nearly as smart as he thinks he is...and is NOT good PR wise.....but when you have an ego like he does it probably doesn't matter to him. Regardless.....he didn't exactly put NU in a positive light.......period. Weasel
  6. Just caught this on Rivals: They rate the BIG 10 as the best conference after the bowl results.......You've got to freakin kidding me. To think I was actually considering subscribing to this online rag?? RIVALS CONFERENCE RATINGS ACC (8) 5-3 Big 12 (8) 5-3 Pac-10 (5) 3-2 SEC (6) 3-3 C-USA (6) 3-3 Mountain West (4) 2-2 Independents (2) 1-1 MAC (2) 1-1 Big Ten (7) 3-4 (HERE IS YOUR NUMBER ONE CONFERENCE......lmao...!) WAC (3) 1-2 Big East (4) 1-3 Sun Belt (1) 0-1 Thoughts? Weasel
  7. Uh-huh, right. If you criticize anything to do with the Huskers, youre a hater. lol.....for sure you are at some places / sites I've noticed. Funny how when they were critical of past Huskers / coaches they were still "fans" though.....lmao That however could hit them in the head directly and still not get their attention. It is great to be a fan of something, but when your eyes become completely blind to any and all issues / critiques...one has to wonder how they view the rest of the utopia of a world they live in? Scary thought imo, Weasel
  8. Like Cal;lahn wait till he gets a recruiting year or two under his belt. OSU was a little faster and stronger, plus no one in the country can cover Teddy Gin Jr. Still doesn't change the fact they hadn't played that tough of schedule and got out coached by OSU.....clearly. ND's offense really only did something at the start of the game and start of the second half....shows to me they (OSU) adjusted and won the battle of coaching....imho. Not only did they get a gift birth......they've been getting a "gift" ranking all year.....but typical. Weasel
  9. Poor sport / sports.....period. It was also nice to prove the entire USC best ever crude as over blown (they would've NEVER won 34 straight games in the Big12...period) by ESPN (Entertaining Stupid People Network). Flat out I hadn't seen this much HYPE in a game since NU/FLORIDA imo.....and ESPN comes out looking like a bunch of morons again.....imo. But in regards to USC.....I personally believe they play in a sub-par conference and especially this year hadn't really played anyone with any kind of D. Even Notre Dame was shown to not of been as good as initially thought (especially their Defense). As for the Better team comment....I don't' believe that either. Lets face it. YOUNG's performance was SO GOOD it took a lot away from the plays other players made. The int by their safety that saved not only a TD, but 3 points in what would've probably lead to a field goal. Also if I recall right 2 forth down plays that UT stopped USC on. Again, the UT D all in all kept Bush in check which with WHITE running you could clearly see they were focused on protecting the outside runs and keeping EVERYTHING in the middle of the field. So player to player performance I'd still take UT's team as a "BETTER" team D wise and in some regards on Offense as well. Also UT didn't run a lot of "power" plays like I've seen in the past.....it seemed to me they saw something on tape that said they could run Young all night long....or at the very least give them favorable matchups with him if there was no one open. But when they wanted to UT could've run the ball more with their RB's and lets face it. their WR / TE's.....were open all night. Look at his completion %.....they have some talent......and it simply shows the ignorance of Matt imho. Just my 2 cents, but clearly I hope we wax USC next year as well. Weasel
  10. Great points as well........I do worry about Young's throwing motion as it does seem to be a lot like Cunningham's use to be when he played for Philadelphia. Long and slow......! Also, USC's defense by any standard was sub-par......100% agree. As for Warrick Dunn.....point well taken. Also, for the record as what I am basing my "opinion" on I wouldn't of risked taking Dunn.....which shows there are anomalies / mistakes. I fully admit i would've made that mistake based on what I have observed of him in college (especially against UNL ). Also just so you know my last post is in NO WAY trying to be confrontational etc..I was simply seeing it differently as are you. With that said it is great to be able to discuss opinions on Bush with someone that will give and take on views.... With that in mind I couldn't agree more with your statement in not under-estimating Bush's abilities. Agreed......time will tell for sure. But "IF" I had the #1 pick I would DO MY BEST to take advantage of the buzz....and trade the pick because I do believe Bush will go #1. So it may be possible if done correctly to load up on talent and really help a poor team get that much better than just Bush could do. That is my take, but it will be fun to watch the Draft this year.....for sure! Take care, Weasel
  11. First and foremost BUSH isn't going to be doing all the above in the NFL. They don't risk hurting quote "star" players for special teams and when they do.......say with me "Jason Sehorn". So Bush's abilities however may come into play if he is on special teams.....cause I suspect he won't be the "star" everyone is expecting especially as a sole running back on any team. For instance, take the Texas game. He didn't consistently get the outside like he had all year and the NFL is going to be even tougher for his running style. Also sorry, but White is the better back and especially if we are talking NFL (again, tell me who is on the field in cruch time and furthermore got more quality carries...white or bush). Has nothing to do with whether I like or dislike Bush..........imo I simply don't see him even remotely in the same league as Emmitt or Barry in college, much less the NFL. They not only were smallish running backs, but one was FREAK of nature with moves that again sorry...BUSH don't have in regards to Barry, and Smith....ran like he was 240 and we all know BUSH don't. Also take into consideration USC.....year in and year out doesn't play exactly tough D's....simply a fact about the pac-10. Bush was a GREAT "TALENT" but was more of a tweener.....rb/wr/athlete type...in the NFL that can spell doom for these types. Ala.....Eric Crouch....moved to WR/ tried safety....etc. etc. In other words.....I don't see Bush as a every down RB and I may be proven wrong. I simply would put my money if I was an NFL owner in a kid like WHITE versus the flashy style of Bush. Of course put myself in that position and I am going with YOUNG bar none. My 2 cents, Weasel
  12. I could see Zack in the NFL for sure. In fact I will fully admit I have had to go back and re-watch some of the throws that Zack made in the Bowl game. Some fantastic throws that demonstrated he can throw the quick / deep outs, descent touch on fade routes (though he missed the one but was under big time pressure) and my favorite of mine watching him throw is over the middle. Puts enough on it to get it there, but enough touch to loft it over the lb's........very nice. Also seems to throw to the flats well to the RB's........ Actually after watching him play with another year with our wr, te, and rb's........we should be VERY solid next year with him at the helm. Actually wouldn't surprise me if he plays and starts in the NFL someday. We will see though......time will tell. Weasel
  13. Mel Kiper is still an idiot. Burn ESPN, BURN! Weasel
  14. I agree with his assessments.........! Right on cue imo. Weasel
  15. I agree, unfortunately many fans along with other sites have self proclaimed "real fans" that have formed groups that do nothing more than attack any and all opposing views of theirs on the current staff and the last few years direction. More so clearly can't deal with any opposing views that are brought to the table....even if it is from x-players, coaches......fans etc (go figure). Sadly Husker Nation has a divide that runs beyond football........but thats fine. Fortunately last time I looked I didn't like the HUSKERS due to others wishes, requests, and or views. I support them for the qualities, values and ethics that our fine institution / team represents in the great state of Nebraska and its people. Thankfully and proudly I am a Nebraskan regardless and a Husker for life. As for bringing the sides back together........were they ever together? I suspect there has always been a divide but the circumstances simply brought them to the fore front these past years. IMO, it really isn't a concern because everyone will continue to do what they deem is right in their eyes. I know I will. Weasel
  16. lmao...thanks. I try not to let things build up Weasel
  17. Herbie putting NU 95 4th.........shows his true lack of football knowledge (This can honestly be said after his reasoning as well......"The Speed of Defenses......and then refers to USC's.....ROTFLMAO") I'd take NU's 94, 95, 96, 97, and 83 D and state that NU's second string had as much speed as USC has had on D any day any year. My gosh....wonder how we ever practiced the option, power running, and passing game (not to mention Tenn, Miami, FSU, OU's.......I think we've played better D's then USC has "ever" had....! Call it jealousy, and or media hype.....(or payback for NU taking the lid off to the world for just what a FRAUD ESPN is when they were doing the same thing pre-game for FLORIDA in 95 (speaking of that, ever notice anyone NU beats is Immediately DISCREDITED.....ala Florida 95, but won the title in 96, Tenn 97, but they won the title in 98.....hmm...). ESPN does nothing but CREATE news........nothing more. I can't wait until someone gives them a run for their money with an alternative sports news, shows etc...........ESPN SUCKS period. That goes for anything not even regarding NU...imho. Until that day.............I'll continue to pray and will surely, gladly promote an alternative, Weasel
  18. Thanks.......it feels good to be back in a bowl game at the very least. It sure is however a nice ending to at times a tough season (2nd season) in this rebuilding process for Husker football. Thanks for the words........there are many Husker fans that appreciate I am sure. I for one wish you guys the best in your bowl game as well.....even if it is against OU My brother-in-law lives in Oregon....nice place and if not for living in AK I'd live there. Anyway....take care and good luck, Weasel
  19. Hey, you show what type of fan you are by coming back and facing the music. Kudos to you and more so congrats on a well faught game and best of luck next year. Oh, and as for talking trash, backing your team...etc. Thats why they call "us" fans......I wouldn't expect any less from a true "blue". Take care and Happy New Year, Weasel
  20. Well......good night all. Good game Michigan and thanks HUSKERS for making my New Year that much more special.......looking forward to the future. Weasel
  21. Hmm....I think we've spotted the 10 year old that is still bitter about 97 Weasel
  22. ROTFLMAO...........I think we all know who is ten years old here Good luck in the bowl game, Weasel
  23. "Stupidest arguments you've ever heard" Hmm...and your only response is to post this: "Michigan 27 Colorado 3 Michigan 38 Baylor 3 Nebraska 27 Colorado 24 Nebraska 49 Baylor 21" I think I'll stick to my guns, considering we played more ranked opponents, beat them worse, didn't dodge playing the best available bowl team due to conference ties (not to mention the teams you compare you played them at Michigan and we played them away. But I am sure that doesn't matter.....lmao). Other than that what was your point? Oh, I get it. Being objective is your strong suite Weasel PS: We won't even discuss how the Big 10 did in their bowl games.
  24. I personally suspect that Bush isn't going to look nearly as good as he has all year versus Texas. I have a couple observations I would like to bring up and see what everyones thoughts are: 1) Why Ahman Green didn't get more push for the Heisman in 97. 2) LP's 94 season one of the greatest by a soph.....but didn't it look as good or better than Bush in 95??? 3) Comparing Bush, LP, and Green (or can they be compared?). BEST SEASONS RUSHING: Ahman Green 97: att: 278 Yards: 1925 avg: 6.8 tds: 22 LP 94: att: 286 Yards: 1722 avg: 6.0 tds: 16 Bush 05: att: 187 Yards: 1658 avg: 8.9 tds: 15 BEST YEAR RECEIVING STATS: Bush: 383 LP: 175 AG: 105 Total Yards (receiving / rushing): Bush: 2041 AG: 2030 LP: 1897 I think what this proves imo is that Bush was used in a more "versatile" way than either LP and or AG. LP did get a lot of pub for his 94 season and arguably had the Heisman won with his first couple of games in 95 (or clearly was every bit as good as Bush as a Jr and clearly the best player in the nation in 95). However I don't think his 94 season gets him to the level of AG and Bush's two best seasons. In regards to potential....I'd take LP any day minus the head issues. I know many huskers players that would verify this as well. However I still can't believe that if you go to Heisman.com and AG's 97 season didn't even get him nominated.....because imo he was every bit as deserving as Bush in regards to rushing / receiving statistics show and not to mention had every bit as good of year as Ricky Williams did and he finished 5th in the voting that year: Here the 97 nominees (and how they finished): Woodson (won Heisman) Manning Leaf Moss Williams Enis Dwight McNown Couch Zereoue I have NO DOUBT that AG should've at least made the top 5 here considering: Ricky Williams: 1893 yards with 25 tds Ahman Green: 1925 yards with 22 tds Only thing I can see is that with the year Frost had it took to much statistically away from Green.......with Frost running for over 1K....Green easily could've had 2K plus and close to 30 tds. Thoughts? The difference.....in regards to BUSH is that he returns punts, is used in a more open offense in which he lines up as a receiver and simply I fully admit, more versatile player (at the minimum used that way) and is clearly the player this year in college football. But how does he rank with two of our most recent RB's.....that many consider some of our best ever.? Weasel
  25. Another comparison that is brought up often: NU 94 versus PSU 94 NU (AP 1 / C 1) Schedule: (Neutral) W. Virginia @ Tex.T. UCLA Pacific Wyoming Okie St. @K. St. AP 19 / C 16 @Mizzou CU AP 3 / C 3 Kansas @Iowas St. @OU (Neutral) Miami AP 6 / C 6 PSU (AP 2 / C 2) Schedule: @Minn Southern Cal. AP 13 / C 15 Iowa Rutgers @Temple @Mich AP 12 / C 12 Ohio St. AP 14 / C 9 @Indiana @Illinois Northwestern @Mich St. (Neutral) Oregon AP 11 / C 11 PSU played 4 final ranked opponents (1 away 2 at Home 1 Neutral) compared to NU’s 3 (1 away, 1 at home and 1 at a “so called” neutral site). The average ranking of these teams in the final polls were: PSU opponents: 12.0 NU opponents: 9.0 Average score and margin of win: PSU: 43-18 (margin of victory over final ranked opponents: 18 points) NU: 22-10 (margin of victory over final ranked opponents: 12 points) Again I'll end by saying I truly don't know who would win. However I do find it fun to compare and to see just what things are true and what things are not........since so many different angles are used to prove either sides point. Point is.............fact is. Play the best available team in your bowl these types of discussions would be a mute point Weasel
