  1. Exactly what I was thinking, and I also think Gundy would listen if Trev called.
  2. Chins is a Frost guy and he knows his days are numbered. He might just tank it the rest of the season to try to show that Frost wasn’t the problem. I’d show him the door in quick order
  3. Here's the "master list" I've compiled so far... Urban Meyer Troy Calhoun Bill O’Brien Mickey Joseph Bob Stoops Mark Stoops Tom Herman Luke Fickell Dave Doeren Jamey Chadwell Todd Monken Craig Bohl Matt Rhule Jeff Monken Lane Kiffin Jim Leonhard Chris Petersen Gary Patterson Lance Leipold Chris Klieman Dave Clawson Sam Pittman Alex Grinch Bret Bielema Kyle Whittingham Mike Gundy Dave Aranda Deion Sanders Matt Entz Dana Holgorsen Pete Golding Brent Vigen Curt Cignetti Shawn Clark
  4. When creating a poll, it only allows you to put 15 possible answers. We have more than double that... Urban Meyer Troy Calhoun Bill O’Brien Matt Rhule Mickey Joseph Bob Stoops Mark Stoops Tom Herman Luke Fickell Dave Doeren Jamey Chadwell Todd Monken Craig Bohl Matt Rhule Jeff Monken Lane Kiffin Jim Leonhard Chris Petersen Gary Patterson Lance Leipold Chris Klieman Dave Clawson Luke Fickell Sam Pittman Alex Grinch Bret Bielema Kyle Whittingham Mike Gundy Sam Pittman Dave Aranda Deion Sanders Matt Entz Dana Holgorsen Pete Golding Brent Vigen Curt Cignetti Shawn Clark
  5. I personally don't mind, as long as there's steady progress. Of course, a one-year turnaround story would be great too
  6. if Rhule is let go by the Panthers he's got to be near the top of the list
  7. Mark Stoops: "It’s been a great ride and we’ve had a lot of good coaches, a lot of good players,” Stoops said. “(The caller) was the first one that had to open Pandora’s box this year and start talking about another job [laughs]. I’m very content and very happy at the University of Kentucky. We have a lot more work to do here.” take that for what's it's worth
  8. You've gotta really look at the big picture in regards to Rhule. His team's records improved every season during his tenure. The turnarounds at both of those schools were remarkable.

  10. If Mickey Joseph is retained, I'd like to see him coax his brother Vance into coming here as DC, at least until the defense is back in order. I'd keep Whipple as OC, and maybe hire Tim Polasek for OL. Bring on Ed Orgeron as recruiting coordinator. If MJ is not kept as full-time HC, I pray to God that whomever is hired does everything in his power to keep him.
  11. Agreed... but again, he doesn't match the "morals of this great state" and is wayyyy too risky
  12. That's why it's so important to retain Applewhite. Otherwise, both of them may bolt.
  13. Exactly what I've been saying. We have two options: 1) Hire a big-name coach (i.e., Meyer) who can attract elite recruits to Lincoln; or 2) go back to a system that would make the Nebraska brand unique. Chadwell and Calhoun would both be solid targets if Trev chooses that route.
  14. yeah, I have the feeling it’ll probably be one of those five. Conservative, safe hire and none of them have had any scandals… yet
  15. All I know is that Bama fans would be happy to see O’Brien go; they don’t think too highly of him
  16. Threw other guys I really hope we reach out to are Kyle Whittingham, Mike Gundy, & Tom Herman
  17. Meyer should be far and away the #1 target. It's not close.
  18. I honestly hope Mickey Joseph has success, but is there any legit chance that he could bring in his brother as DC? Heck, he was a HC in the NFL and current DC for the Cardinals. I'm sure he's paid very well as an NFL assistant. Bring in Ed O to help w/ recruiting and you're set.
  19. I like Chadwell, mainly because of that spread option that he runs. I think that Nebraska fans would love it. It would make Nebraska a desirable destination -- THE destination --- for recruits who run similar offenses in HS. However, not sure how he would handle "big time" football and/or where he'd get his assistants from... he comes across as a guy who would just bring his current assistants along for the ride rather than actually looking for top-notch assistants and I'm not sure about that. Hard to hire a guy without P5 experience/success. Aranda is a top defensive mind, no-nonsense, and gets the most out of his players. I personally don't see him coming here, because he can pretty much pick and choose where he wants to go.
  20. My personal favorites are Meyer, Aranda, Herman, Stoops, Rhule, Whittingham, TODD Monken, Gundy… The crazy thing is, I think we could land Meyer, but he won't be on our list, because he doesn't "represent Nebraska values." And that's sad. All of these guys have baggage. ALL of them. Some are just better at hiding it than others.
  21. 2002: "As long as we compete for a national championship a couple of times a decade, I'm OK with it." 2007: "As long as we win the conference championship once every 5 years, I'm OK with it." 2012: "As long as we win our division and compete for the conference championship on a semi-regular basis, I'm OK with it." 2017: "As long as we win our division once in a while, I'm OK with it" 2022: "As long as we're on the level of Wisconsin and Iowa, I'm OK with it" I've been saying it for years... over the past 20 years our standards have continued to lower and lower to the point now that some fans actually wanted to keep Frost, while others are ready to accept just about anyone as a replacement. Maintain high standards, stick to those standards, strive for those standards, and refuse to settle for less than those standards. Soon there will be 12 teams in the CFP. Our goal should be to make the playoff, period.
