  1. I agree - Anae doesn't impress me much. I'd prefer a younger, fresher, more innovative mind, someone kids would want to play for. Still wish they'd give Zach Kittley a look.
  2. Word around the rumor mill here is that Mickey said that recruits would decommit if he wasn't retained, and that rubbed the LSU brass the wrong way, which is why he wasn't retained.
  3. Not a chance that either of those guys are coming here.
  4. We actually had quite a few guys from the New Orleans area play for us in the not-so-distant past, most notably Stanley Morgan Jr. Alonzo Moore was from Winnfield, LA
  5. Only reason he’s being mentioned is because he’s one of the best recruiters in the business, something we desperately need.
  6. i repeatedly said this after it was announced that Frost was being retained: what coordinators are going to come to a place where the HC’s seat is white-hot, where you might only be for one season?
  7. Not happening. He's a big fish and has the luxury of waiting for better options. I like Kendal Briles and Jeff Lebby also, but pretty certain they're gonna stay in the SEC.
  8. The more I read, the more it's looking like he's going to stay put at LSU. I hope Frost has some other options lined up.
  9. Frost - like other recent HCs here - pacifies the fan base. He tells them what they want to hear, which is why he (and they) receives so much backlash. I wish he's be straight-up and honest rather than waiting to see what happens and then singing a different tune after the fact ("oh, he was playing injured.")
  10. The more I read about Korn, the more I like him. I'd be happy with that hire.
  11. I'm hoping the reason we haven't hired an OC yet is because the target is currently still coaching in meaningful games... otherwise, we're in trouble. As far as Joseph goes, the main reason we need him is for his recruiting ability and Louisiana ties. I'd feel confident with him as recruiting coordinator.
  12. Gotcha. I don't follow that show. But no, I don't find it unusual at all. Our WR's dad pretty much just confirmed that it all comes down to Kelly's decision.
  13. I don't think anyone is insinuating that. I expect him to continue to recruit for LSU until his contract expires. Heck, Orgeron continued to recruit for LSU even after he was fired.
  14. Welp, I just received the reply. He simply stated (in regards to the Nebraska offer): "It's on the table." So, at least Mickey mentioned it to them that he could possibly be leaving. Again, I think it all comes down to Kelly. Hopefully he'll meet with all of the coordinators soon to discuss their futures.
  15. Apparently they must be referring to guys already on the roster, like Smith, because LSU currently only has one WR commit: De'Coldest ToEvaDoIt Crawford. Yes, that's his real name. I saw him play in the playoffs a couple years back and I wasn't impressed, to be honest.
  16. Oh, he definitely doesn't want to leave, I know that for a fact... which is why he hasn't accepted the job yet. He's waiting to see if he's going to be retained or not. I'm personally hoping the rumors are true because if so, his comments likely rubbed them the wrong way and he would be let go. Apparently these things were said before the new HC was even announced, so I don't think Kelly cares one way or another. Probably depends more on if Kelly plans to bring his WR coach from ND (DelVaughn Alexander) with him, and if that coach would want to come to LSU. Some seem to think that one of LSU's WRs - Deion Smith - who came to LSU mainly because of Joseph - would transfer if he leaves (not necessarily to Nebraska). If I were to guess, I think Kelly will retain him, due to his recruiting ties. The Joseph family is well-known throughout the New Orleans area.
  17. So the rumor here in the Baton Rouge area is that Mickey Joseph told admins that some current recruits would not stay committed if he's not retained. Not sure if there's any validity to these claims, but I do know for a fact that last night he was still out recruiting for LSU because the #1 WR in Louisiana plays for my school and he did an in-home visit last night. Apparently Brian Kelly hasn't decided who he's going to retain, but LSU needs a New Orleans connection so the feeling is that Kelly will want to retain him. Kelly said he hasn't made those decisions yet, which is why we're waiting in limbo. I also emailed the kid's dad to see if Mickey mentioned that he was leaving for Nebraska, but haven't received a reply yet.
  18. I have lived in South Louisiana since 1989. Joseph has coached some great WRs at LSU but he’s an even better recruiter than he is a coach, and God knows we need some solid recruiters. Right now it’s all just a matter if Kelly wants to retain him or not. It’s already been announced that he’s retaining Corey Raymond and Marshall Faulk. Joseph is such a solid recruiter that Kelly might not want to lose him. If we do hire him, it would revive our lifeline to the New Orleans area, where the Joseph family is well-known. Too bad he can't bring his cousin Terry with him.
  19. Mickey Joseph would be an excellent hire. It’s all dependent on whether Brian Kelly wants to retain him. Would love to get Carlos Polk for special teams but I know that’s highly doubtful.
  20. This thread is gonna go 40+ pages all for it to end up being Helfrich
  21. I've been saying that all along. Others mentioned Billy Napier as OC. Some of our fans are delusional, I swear.
  22. He can be "associate head coach" - heck, make up some sort of title for him
  23. I'll stop being "mad" when we reach the level of what I know this program can be.
