  1. At the time they made the decision I didn't have a huge problem with it other than don't do it a week after you announce the schedule that's bad optics. However, the more they botch handling it since the more irritated I've become with it. Plus everything now is flying in the face of cancelling, yet they seem to refuse to budge on the decision. HS sports are going off successfully all over, testing has advanced in a major way, college sports are happening successfully and yet they refuse to even address any of this publicly. They're bringing this all on themselves even if their initial decision was correct at the time. It's exactly the whole ivory tower mentality, they can't admit maybe they should reconsider.
  2. The PR people need to reevaluate what they are doing that's for sure. They couldn't make it look like they are hiding something more if they tried.
  3. I saw someone else point this out elsewhere, but the B1G redacted more than 11 pages of the 13 page bylaws they submitted to the court. I mean can you try harder to make it look like you are hiding something?
  4. So, you figured you'd go ahead and create a thread in the sports area of the website to talk about politics? Seems a bit hypocritical.
  5. Ya I get that, but I was sharing what others have referenced is available. I can't remember who, but there was a media member who'd seen it through a FOIA at some point and the 60% thing is actually in the bylaws.
  6. https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/iuhoosiers.com/documents/2017/2/6/Big_Ten_2016_17_Handbook.pdf There you go Knapp. And as far as this argument goes, they do have the right to cancel everything, cut programs, etc. However, as HuskerLaw is saying the conference is guided from the bylaws that they agreed upon as a conference. The same reason the Huskers can't go and start a rogue season is the reason why you can't suspend/cancel the season without a proper vote as set out in the bylaws. It will open you up to all sorts of legal repercussions if you don't follow your own rules. The court system could hold them to their bylaws as they are legally enforceable like any contract law is. The court could say you didn't correctly suspend your season, thus it isn't technically cancelled and that would allow parties to seek damages for violating their contracts. And Universities have many external stakeholders such as everyone their athletic departments have licenses/contracts with. If the B1G didn't properly suspend their season then Fox for example could come after damages for failure to live up to their TV contracts or food vendors, clothing vendors, and any other vendor they contract with as well as things like donors and the like. If you don't follow your bylaws you are legally in violation and have opened yourself up to a legal nightmare. That's why all the lawyers I've seen are saying if the B1G really didn't follow their voting rules and don't correct it they are in for a major legal nightmare.
  7. Don't forget that the UM grad student employees have voted to strike over the University's poor safety policy and the university threatening them as being unable to strike. Really worried about their safety!
  8. Ya it's absolutely insane. They suspended the season on August 11th. You can't tell me that with people working on this everyday they don't have anything concrete nearly a month later?? People whose full time job isn't coordinating a conference have put out more details than the B1G has at this point. It's really become a spectacular lesson in how not to do this and we're seeing inept leadership in a lot of ways.
  9. The Big 12 plays with 10 teams, the B1G can have a season with 8 this year easily enough. The pipe dream of a winter/spring season is not happening multiple people have thrown cold water on that idea. Plus the fact, by all reports, they seem to be trying for a Thanksgiving or earlier start makes me think they realized that option was not going to work. At this point if they could do the January start I think there would be more info on that, but as Urban Meyer pointed out there is just no way. Let the 8 that want to play go and the others can eat dirt.
  10. Yes, the common sense approach. Seems like that gets thrown out from the get go in these situations though.
  11. The people jumping to conclusions on these kids leaving are really ridiculous. Gray left for family issues as well and is playing closer to home. Francois I don't think was ever settled in his decision to move so far away and then football stops and he heads home and now Greene may have family issues too. I went to school 3 hours from home and got home sick often and could drive back. These kids are moving across the country it doesn't have to be some systemic issue with Frost or NU or culture sometimes kids have things come up in life especially this year.
  12. The speculation I have seen is that the first vote was not a proper Rules of Roberts vote (I have no idea what that means) and they would technically need to either vote to have a season or suspend it. However, they don't have the votes to go either way and both sides are trying to get schools on their side and then they'll "revote" which will actually just be a real first vote. So, yes, they'd ether need to vote to actually suspend it or to continue with a new schedule of which has to be approved anyhow.
  13. Was the Kevin-O-Meter out of 10? I still have it at a 5/10 if so. Seems like if the reports of a revote are true the season rests on the decision of a couple schools.
  14. Now we're asking the hard questions that'll get us the answers we need!
  15. But maybe a season he doesn't want to be part of like winter/spring? I agree though makes it seem like he's opting out of something.
  16. There have been reports from legitimate insiders like Callahan at Rivals and 247 OSU guys. So, there's some movement but who knows how much legitimately. Even coaches and ADs seem to not know.
  17. Tom Mars seems to think the B1G's fall vote wasn't up to the league bylaws and the players lawsuit has them backed into a corner.
  18. The lack of leaks on this process is amazing to me. It's part of why SirYacht has has the following he has, no one is saying anything. We had more leaks leading up to the cancellation then we've had so far.
  19. I'm sure Schlissel knows all about the football team's safety protocols and efforts if he hasn't even spoke to the HC.
  20. I don't know the story, but don't underestimate the metal toll these cancellations are causing kids. A lot of them have known nothing but football for a long time and that's been taken away.
  21. You beat me to posting this. I was going to share it with a "Fall season back on!" caption, but never mind now, jeez.
  22. I honestly think the B1G thought that every other conference would just follow suite and they wouldn't be scrutinized. Now that they are they are scrambling to cover things up. There is no other reason they would be so secretive unless something happened that shouldn't have.
