  1. Fair enough. That was a mistake on my part to generalize a whole profession. I also realize that it was a mistake of me to open up a can of worms when I don't have an hour to reply to replies. I should have anticipated that. We don't have enough information on a lot of stuff. And we still don't know where the recruits and transfers will go. But this is me giving y'all notice that my opinion of Frost has been changing as more of this stuff comes out and the benefit of the doubt disappears. I'll be on later to debate. I imagine this will be a topic of conversation.
  2. No one is asking for pity. Most coaches are d-bags. The ones that aren't usually get results like Riley. The question is: is Frost the kind of guy that UCF fans can root for or is he just as selfish as the majority of coaches?
  3. Until/unless some new details emerge, it might be time for me to leave HuskerBoard. Here's what I know: people don't root for the coaches that leave them. It's a business decision, nothing personal on both sides (though people make it personal). With Frost, UCF fans could root for him because he's SUCH a nice guy and he loves UCF SO MUCH. But here's what else I know: 1. Frost didn't have to talk to other schools during the year. It would be better for him to do so and position himself well for any opportunities, but better for UCF if he told schools, I'll talk to you after the season is over. Decision: in the best interests of Frost 2. Frost didn't have to accept an offer from another school during the season. He could have said, "I'm interested, I'll only sign after the season". Better for Frost that he does what the new school wants, better for UCF if he waits. Decision: in the best interests of Frost 3. Frost didn't have to take the whole staff, there are numerous ways that he could make sure the players had some continuity (find a different TE coach). Maybe even someone that knows how to recruit Nebraska/the midwest. Better for Frost that he keeps every staff member he feels like (including admin asst's), better for UCF if Frost leaves somebody somewhere still in place. Decision: in the best interests of Frost 4. Frost doesn't have to take recruits. He went to Nebraska early so that he could get a jump on recruiting, even if it puts UCF behind the 8-ball. UCF is putting a staff together from scratch, but at least Frost's staff got a good start on recruiting, right? Better for Frost if he sets himself up as well as possible and tries to flip all the recruits that were committed to UCF, better for UCF if Frost doesn't take the whole staff AND try to take all the recruits right before signing period. Decision: in the best interests of Frost 5. Frost doesn't have to take transfers from UCF. But it's in his best interest to take everyone and everything he wants. Decision: we don't know yet Then there's stuff that isn't as definitive, but doesn't look good in context: 1. The leak during the championship game. Looks like either Frost wasn't careful on his side or he carelessly dealt with an AD that didn't give a crap. I'm not sure how Frost comes out well in this scenario unless he was fuming about it, but made sure to keep his rage from becoming public. 2. The coaching staff clearly started checking out once the decisions started to be made and the team started looking worse and worse. The lower margin of victory was one of the reasons the CFP listed for ranking UCF so low. Looks like either Frost wasn't careful on his side or he carelessly dealt with an AD that didn't give a crap. I'm not sure how Frost comes out well in this scenario unless he was fuming about it, but made sure to keep his rage from becoming public. I'm willing to wait and see if some new information emerges, but it seems like Frost is not the loyal guy I thought he was, or perhaps, loyal to one school instead of two. We'll see. I think the preparation put in the bowl game (if he coaches), the recruits flipped, and the transfers will paint a picture of a loyal Knight and kindly Huskers AD who handled the transition as ham-handedly as possible, or two guys who aren't incompetent and just like playing nice guys on TV. If it's the latter, there's no reason for me to be here if I'm actively rooting for bad things to happen to Frost and Moos. I could be everyone's favorite UCF troll?
  4. We're pretty pissed off. I'm pretty pissed off as well.
  5. I mentioned this on another board as a reason to hire Walters. Walters could be HC for the game, Frost could be his OC and then a lot of the awkwardness goes away. Like a band reuniting for one show, even though they're all going their separate ways after. Most UCF fans are conflicted. We know that Auburn will be a tougher opponent than Baylor was in our last big bowl and that we have no chance with Heupel and a bunch of new assistants installing a new system in a few weeks. And I think most UCF fans admire Frost for actually wanting to be loyal to the players and not leave the school hanging. The most complicating factor is the recruit poaching. I'm not really sure WTH Frost is thinking with that. You can either be magnanimous or screw over your former team in these situations, but there's not a lot of gray area. You're already screwing over the team by taking all the coaches and making sure the team will not be the same one that shows up at the bowl. But you can explain it away as "we have a good team of coaches, we wanted to stay together, didn't know who the new coach would be" and if you come back for the bowl, I think all reasonable people understand. But know one is forcing you to poach recruits. And I get it from Frost's perspective, most of these recruits committed to him and not the university and who knows if the new coach will want/utilize them. But it looks really bad. And it knocks down the magnanimity down quite a few pegs and leaves a lot of people very suspicious of what else you're capable of. If I'm White, I tell him to stay away from the recruits or not coach in the bowl. Be a hero or a jerk, but don't try to be both, it just makes a lot of people unhappy.
  6. I think y'all should start off being optimistic. And there could be a number of reasons why the defense looked so bad. I'm mostly just putting these posts on here because I think y'all will turn on Chinander like we did and then I can come back here and be like, "I know, right? Chinan(d)er is the worst..." and we can commiserate together.
  7. Me too. But when you sell out everything else, you have a great turnover ratio and an unimpressive final score.
  8. Sorry, guys. I hope that Chinander is better for y'all than he was for us, but I don't know a UCF fan that wasn't happy to see him go. And this was a progression from the beginning of the season where everyone wanted him to take over if Frost left. But his defense became more about forcing turnovers than stopping scores. For your sake, I hope that the rapid decline over the season was because he was checking out and looking for other jobs rather than other coaches figuring him out. But that's a really sad best-case scenario.
  9. I went on Huskerboard and didn't see the Frost Megathread and my heart stopped. What is life w/o the Megathread? Did they take it down? I barely recovered when I found it so far down the list...
  10. I don't think anyone needs to panic about reports of second thoughts. We've learned a lot about Scott Frost, the person, this season and it seems like his main motivator is not money or championships, it clearly seems to be loyalty. Loyalty explains why he narrowed his choices down to UCF and Nebraska, why Florida didn't have a shot and why Oregon had a better shot than FSU. He told us himself, "I'm loyal to my alma mater" "I'm loyal to the guys I go to battle with". No wonder it was such a gut-wrenching decision for him. It has nothing to do with facilities or weather or money, he felt loyalty to two different institutions and could only choose one. I completely believe any reports he was getting cold feet, but not because he's not committed to Nebraska, but because he's a guy that never wanted to betray anyone and was forced to pick a side. There will always be second-guessing for guys like that. He'll be 100% after the Peach Bowl, but maybe not until then.
  11. I just don't get guys like Hedley that take info from JessicaO and pass it off as their own...
  12. This is just how it goes. I've been appalled at some of the UCF fans. "I hope he fails at Nebraska" "He's dead to me" Seriously? The guy just completed the best program turnaround ever, the best season of your program ever, turned down every program except his alma mater to stay at a G5 school, what more do you want from the guy? People just identify so much with their teams that they make it way more personal than it is. You Nebraska fans have been WAY classier than any other fanbase would have been.
  13. Ok, so I'm revising my percentages of where Frost goes. 98% Nebraska, 2% UCF. I know it's official, but I think there's a 2% chance that he gets to Lincoln, finds a media tent city set up on his parents' front lawn, then comes back to UCF.
  14. If Moos resigned today, would you rather: have Eichorst return or get the Tennessee leadership team?
  15. Is any of this information JessicaO-level certified? If not, I won't believe it.
  16. Before Frost, we had O'Leary who everyone knew was going to retire at UCF. Even though his philosophies on college football made no sense in Central Florida, just knowing that he was going to be there and knowing that he had success elsewhere spurred us to success that we never had seen and was rare among our peers. I'm glad that Nebraska is getting Frost. Not only does the program deserve it, but he was never going to stay at UCF long-term. I'm glad that he found a place where he will stay so early in his career and I'm confident that the long-term commitment and previous success will be just as good for y'all as it was for us. So congrats. Treat him well... *sniff... he was good to us.
  17. Yeah, I've warmed up to the idea of Walters. But we need to start developing our own Frosts that want to come home to UCF.
  18. Pfft. Frost isn't leaving UCF. He said that it would be tough to leave UCF. I heard on the UCF board that he bought a burial plot on the field so that if he died while coaching at UCF, his funeral wouldn't interrupt a game. Edit: I'm not delusional! You're delusional!
  19. It makes sense, though. There are CEOs that make millions, but it is difficult to tell how much better they're doing than a replacement-level CEO. Or an average person with some training. But with coaching, you can tell. It is way too easy to tell how good your coach is versus a replacement-level coach. And no average joe with training could just step in. Therefore, they're worth a lot of money, because there are finite resources (people) available. Like NFL quarterbacks.
  20. I didn't imagine Tennessee could look worse than it has.
  21. I'm not offended. I was posting to make fun of how ridiculous the arms race has become and juxtapose Nebraska's Athletic Performance Lab (which helps athletes improve) with a lazy river athletics village (which panders to the fantasies of 18yo's). But the arms race to build theme parks and robot butlers is where it will go. There is only so much you can do to increase performance, but there is a lot of money to spend on entertaining teenagers.
  22. Just wait until UCF builds the lazy river...we'll have to bat away National Championships with a stick. But, wait! What if other schools starting building their own waterparks? With more roller coasters? Oh no, the arms race has struck again...
  23. Ok, stuff like that that is unique to UNL makes more sense to me why there is so much pride in the facilities. If it's just a slightly shinier version of what everyone else has, I don't think its a huge draw for coaches or recruits.
  24. Someone has to explain the facilities thing to me, b/c that seems to be a big thing here and a point of pride for Nebraska fans. OK, so does Nebraska have amazing facilities that any coach would want to have or just the same stuff everyone else has?
