  1. He looks really, really good for a freshman. Fun first offer for the 2024 class.
  2. Grimes finished his senior seasons and posted his highlights on HUDL. He's smooth, tough, and has great hands even though he doesn't have top end speed.
  3. Gabe Ervin's regular season senior highlights got posted on HUDL. He's got good size, good hands, and good speed. Buford is still playing and favored to win the 6A state championship.
  4. Lutovsky's senior highlights just got posted to HUDL. He's nearly as big as Brent Qvale and almost as mean as Ricky Henry. That's a very good combination.
  5. My thought is a guy that can defend the pass backpedaling is more rare in high school than a guy that plays the pass in front of him. Dickerson's change of direction and explosiveness is different. I watched him break up passes in press coverage, playing off and against every route there is. As a Westside guy, I'm rooting for both to succeed (and also a late offer to Payton). Bretz is already very good and is just going to keep getting better like he did every year in high school as he fills out his frame.
  6. I posted this before, but I think that Bretz a better high school football player than Dickerson but that's because his skill set is better suited for the high school game. Dickerson's much more athletic, better as in coverage, and has better ball skills. Bretz's ability and willingness to stop the run is very impressive and has more of an effect on the outcome of games in Nebraska high schools. His highlight at 23 seconds is as great of a play as you will ever see from a defensive back. Plus the ability to play safety over the top means that you can come forward to make plays on the ball from inaccurate high school quarterbacks trying to make plays downfield. Basically, in college Dickerson has to get a bigger to be physical enough to take on college players. Bretz needs to get a little bigger to be effective against college running backs and a bit faster to stay on top of college receivers. This isn't a criticism of Bretz, who I think is very, very good and will be a multiyear starter at Nebraska. He just has more work to put in to be an impact player at the next level because of the responsibilities he'll be asked to take on. He looks like an Eric Hagg clone.
  7. Crawford looks like he is going to shoot up the rankings with his great junior film. The only criticism I have of him as a LB is that his feet are way too square at the point of contact. So he's not loading and exploding through tackles and instead whips guys to the ground. He's big enough, strong enough, and agile enough to dominate in high school doing this. However, it's a sure fire way to get run over by college running backs. It's all fixable. Right now, he's a QB that is playing LB as well. Once he gets time to work on his footwork, his hand will improve as well and he should get much better at taking on blocks and finishing plays. He's really good and going to get much better.
  8. I'm thinking that Buckley gets in the weight room and emerges a 3 or or even a 1 tech where Weaver and Savea seem to fit in more shading 5.
  9. That is very true and the crazy thing is that it's the same QB. Just night and day improvement for that whole offense. You can tell how hard they worked.
  10. Latrell Neville's Mid-Season Highlights are on HUDL and he looks so much better than last year. Last year's tape showed a guy that mostly ran 10 yard curls and waited for the ball to come to him. This year he runs his routes hard, makes deliberate cuts, and attacks the ball in the air with his hands.
  11. Lewis Central lost their quarterfinal playoff game to Harlan so their season is finished. Fidone ended up with 43 catches for 845 yards and 10 touchdowns. He finished his high school career with 1732 yards and 20 touchdowns
  12. Had 4 catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns last week.
  13. I wouldn't worry about it too much. There aren't a lot of guys that have the endurance to put on a four minute pancake tape in one game. The good news is the guys he's putting on their backs aren't small. 54 is listed at 6'2" 275 lbs and 73 looks to be at least 6'6" 210 lbs.
  14. Hardy had another multi-touchdown game last week.
  15. Fidone is Calvin Johnson compared to his competition.
  16. Fidone added a couple more touchdowns to his stat sheet this week.
  17. 1999-2001 were pretty great times. Eric Crouch was the toast of the state and could get sandwiches in any diner from Omaha to Fort Robinson. Going into the 2006 season after beating down Colorado and winning an exciting Alamo Bowl against Michigan, we had a chance to "Restore the Order" but blew it against USC, Texas, and Oklahoma. 2010 was similar to 2006 but with bigger aspirations as we were Top 5 and favored against an unranked Texas but the offense was wound so tight that we dropped ball after ball on our way to a disappointing season.
  18. Ervin ran for 86 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown in Buford's 14-28 loss to North Cobb.
  19. Massive dude that's a very good athlete and has no qualms about putting his guy on the ground is a very good thing to have. Improve those hands and give him some weight room time and it's tough to not see him as a contributor.
  20. I think that he's a better high school football player than Dickerson, but that's because his skill set is better suited for the high school game. Dickerson's much more athletic, better as in coverage, and has better ball skills as a defender. Bretz's ability and willingness to stop the run is very impressive and has more of an effect on the outcome of games in Nebraska. His highlight at 23 seconds is as great of a play as you will ever see from a defensive back.
  21. Grimes had 26 receptions for 757 yards and six touchdowns receiving last year and scored touchdowns on a punt return, interception return, rushing, and passing. I'm concerned about the lack of touchdowns on kickoff returns and fumble recoveries but the fact that he's a 22'4.25" long jumper and the best edge blocker in the 2021 class makes me overlook that.
  22. McAlister's just better than the guys he's going up against. Maybe I'm not compensating for his competition, but he kind of looks like a slower Maurice Purify.
  23. Dude looks smart and sudden on film. Playing for a small school and being a late bloomer probably relegated him to a guy that would have got attention during this upcoming camp circuit. If he has the same wheels as Kareem Moss then we got a real good one.
  24. The main takeaway from his film is that Buford High School has a lot of camera angles of game footage.
  25. Point well taken, I'm not trying to disparage Trotter (who I think is really good too) but everything I've seen about Malcom makes me optimistic for his future. He has the frame (legit 6'3" and long), runs well (53 second 400m), and dominates his over-matched competition (12.1 YPC and DPOY two years in a row). It's just very easy to see how he progresses into a Will Compton level player and not a stretch to go above that.* *Disclaimer: I thought Corey Whitaker, Alonzo Whaley, Deontre Thomas, Curenski Gilleylen, Kevin Maurice, and Given Price were future all-conference level players.
