  1. This is a 3 level Oklahoma drill most College, High School and even youth teams have been running for years Ok good aggressiveness, technique and pad level on the block destruct, but the tackling continues to SUCK with this player, zero wrap on his tackles which was a major issue last year too Cut back is so easy when tacklers lead head in front and choose to bump instead of shoulder and wrap- God gave you arms for a reason- no need to play like a double amputee when it comes time to tackle aiming point is near hip I HATE how this kid "tackles" Worst thing that can happen to an impressionable football player- Get a lucky positive result with horrible technique But have a positive result and people pat you on the back so you continue same nonsense, thinking it will work since it did against weak scout team player or Sisters of the Poor NW State U For the love of all things that are holy PLEASE do not "tackle" like this this season or we will continue to give up 31 ppg
  2. Yep non violent crime by someone that is high flight risk Better set the bond real high
  3. We can even go 21 personnel and get the very same outcome- with Washington/ Robinson or Washington/Jones or even Jones/Robinson lined up in the backfield to start or with someone like Legrone shift from 21 to 5 wide with a running QB that puts another level of pressure on your D-you better not drop a bunch of guys into coverage- or the QBs going to beat you with his legs
  4. That’s one of reasons frosts offense is so hard to defend robinson, jones or Washington can lineup in the backfield but shift or motion to wr and be a real bear to cover
  5. Taking a closer look at this years schedule not sure even the most ardent husker fan could have come up with a better schedule Based on where we are now Sure a bit of a tough stretch with osu northwestern and minny in a row but 2 of them are at home and those aren’t 3 3 total beasts in a row away etc start off with a layup at home v s Alabama travel to Colorado to play against a name team that has players that beat us last year thanks to us not having our quarterback and a warm up game lots of red in the stadium new coach and system for them - so reasonable opponent on road that really won’t be on the road then back home against a mid major bowl team that beat us 2 years ago they will put up a fight but not deep enough to beat us here then a layup against one of the worst conference foes in league 4-0 going into home game against the monsters of the midway which donu almost beat on the road last year play well don’t get embarrassed much rather play them early than late 4-1 then northwestern against a team with a new quarterback we had these guys dead to right away last year nw has MSU and wisconsin before us 5-1 must win against improving but not scary minny team nu blew out last year lots of huskee fans at this game minny has Ohio state and Iowa before us 6-1 week to rest before playing bad Indiana team at home 7-1 well coached Purdue team away 7-2 week to rest then wisconsin at home Wisconsin’s chink in the armour has been exposed we could win this one but dont Season is getting a little long here but badgers play osu and Iowa before us very winnable 50/50 game 7-3 Maryland there md can be a bit one dimensional at times and easy place to play they play Minnesota Michigan and osu leading up to us - totally beat up 8-3 Iowa in the grudge match in Iowa city we finally get a few breaks to go our way this 50/50 game goes our way and we finish at 9-3 Nu beats Florida in outback bowl to end up 10-3 get Corcoran and 3 other 500 mile radius 4 star linemen and top 14 class and Nebraska becomes the media darlings of 2020 doable stuff
  6. I get it but not 4 wins thanks to a more forgiving schedule and improvement accross the board this teams success will largely depend on martinez health however this year we will have a legit threat at backup quarterback that we didn’t have last season mccaffrey will be the real deal
  7. I for one have never thought our coaching or our team were remotely good enough to win the big under smilin Mike or pelini how in the world could anyone ever have confidence a career .500 coach would ever win anything? there was zero history under them no clear vision no reasonably believable credible strategy no unity of purpose weak admin too with the current staff and direction I can see it happening under Riley I never had any remote even drunken stouper thoughts of coming close to a division title even with every possible break goinv our way Under pelini a bit more competitive but no illusions of winning it these guys yes very possible they are the real deal They get Nebraska and no one outworks them kids respect them
  8. This years on the field results are going to be key if nu is going to truly be relevant in the next decade no matter how great the coaching is we are going to need to have a few luckily dominos fall in order to get real good real quick a mini perfect storm of sorts could really jump start the program and could be brewing right now 2020 has a number of real game changing big men in the 4-5 star range within the 500 mile radius and combine that with 5 quality locAls we snagged last year and a couple of descent local gets this coming year corcoron 4-5 star ol from kc humacher- 4 star dL from sd rodengarten/ 4 Star ot from Co atterberry- 4 star ot from co all seem to be very interested with nu in the lead with 2 and then 2 four star receivers from Omaha nebraskas great teams of 93-97 had some very special kids From afar that decided to come here teamed with a bunch of local and regional talent Get to 9 wins lock down 4 four star linemen from 500 mild radius put together top 14 recruiting class and were back into consistent league contention by year 4 of this plenty of 4 star kids and well developed others to consistently compete in the big heck when was the last time we even were able to Land 10 four stars let alone keep them? imagine when we have 4 classes of those kids suiting up
  9. Absolutely on the schedule no meat grinder great back and forth on home and away tough and not so tough games excellent set up to get our online squared away and working well as a unit chances to see our backups get a few meaningful snaps prior to osu moderste test from Colorado prior to playing the big osu boys even if we stub our toe against osu That isn’t a have to game these are the have to games: colorado minnesota northwestern then 1 of these purdue iowa then we toss the dice and maybe steal a win from Wisconsin or osu if not not a big deal in year 2
  10. Fair enough undone offensively in the aggregate nu will be better even with the loss of Morgan and oz quarterback group nets up significantly all 3 have another year in even though bunch and vedral showed little mccaffery is coaches kid, good arm, smart, very good feet and here this spring- he’s going to be very good martinez will make huge jump in year 2 rbs- mills is proven d1 real deal, Washington 1 year in weights and diet shows, Bradley over his personal issues, Robinson and jones get reps in the hybrid spot and Johnson looks very promising even with loss of oz this aggregate group nets up robinson is Washington on steroids here- crazy difficult threat at rb and he’s here for spring unlike Washington last year ol- 3 legit starters back that showed good progress as season progressed, Farniok moving inside helps Gaylord keeps seat warm for benhardt who works his way in to start midseason center spot should hold serve with HIxson or Miller year in s&c helps this unit and dL more than any. 2020 class looks promising at this position group we hold serve here need to win big here in 2020 class rec- spielman and Robinson will be terrors frost and staff have only hyped Martinez and washington both were real deals- so is Robinson theyve been hyping him a bit- that means he will be immediate contributor expect jones, Woodyard, mcquitty or nance to be that third contributor Warner will be extra on the aggregate this group of 3-4 nets up slightly- we still need big dude te- we can cobble together in the aggregate the te this team needs this group nets up- no losses stoll/ blocks well catching separating not so much allen- if he blocks better becomes insanely potent weapon- very underrated as athlete - kid can ball legrone- size and speed hickman- needs a year to heal and develop rafdal- size anc speed
  11. Agreed in 2018 we were better than our record indicated- we will net up several wins just because of that in 2019 in 2017 our record reflected who we were the following year we had the same record but much better point differential in 2016 our record overstated how good we were- the following year we netted down 5 games in 2015 our record understated how good we were the next year we netted up 3 more wins over time the “ luck” factor evens out
  12. It will be more than fine washington plays - may miss opener bradley will be fine had personal issue that got ironed out mills makes it- Frost has had success in figuring out who can make it in or not i was highly sceptical of Washington’s eligibility last year- he made it remember robinson and jones rotate into the backfield as well on the hybrid rb position offense is fine defense is the concern
  13. We have 7 players who started and 8 who played a bunch on offense we won’t need to worry about offense robinson is going to have a monster year the only players frost really hyped last year were Martinez and Washington which panned out he is hyping Robinson which means ink him in as a starter and big contributor we only need 1 more contributor out of : mcquitty miles jones woodyard nance We can cobble a te our of: stoll allen legrone Rafdal at rb we will be fine: washington mills bradley Johnson mazur
  14. Jaimes wilson farinouk speilman martinez stoll warner mo Washington - 2 games your number is off while Warner and stoll aren’t great they know the system and can fill in until someone behind them develops enough to step in mo is a game changer and moving Farniok inside will pay dividends look for Benhardt to come on strong late while Gaylord keeps the seat warm for him
  15. Yes tight ends that can stretch the field and block are tough to come by shame Riley didn’t get on Fant early one of the toughest things a lb has to do is to discern is this tight end blocking me or going out for a pass or both add in a play action possible run fit and the lbs brain is spinning like a top add in the fact you have to cover our backs on fakes or on something that looks like pass pro because they slip out of the backfield and can catch well and make big plays really sucks for opposing linebackers
  16. We will still be logrothimcly ahead of where we were run game wise with riley plus frost will run the ball on 3rd and 8 and it won’t be a scramble we will also have more than 2 run plays which makes people who love the ground game to be happy
  17. Frost UCf offense in year 2 was quite a bit different than year 1 expect the same here sure part of it had to do with personnel but part is due to experience everyone but vedral was a year one pupil heck the quarterback was a true frosh Riley left a team that was as we all knew very weak mentally and physically frost did what he had to do work culture and physicality The playbook will open up with the recruited speed expect more long tds this year 2 frost film shows frost getting his team into plays where the defense has little chance due to x and os advantages, taking advantage of coverages, reads and alignments were going to see lots of false pulls and window dressing this season saw a little taste of that last year later in the season they threw a LOT more in year 2 this year expect to see more of the buck sweep plays here Larry fedora style with pulling center and guard at about the 40 second mark expect more deep passes and seam throws to the tight end off play action
  18. Yep opportunnity cost for cd or money market is what 2 percent its all about the 6.5 line which may be available early and not at all later Losing the cash for a couple of months early vs getting a 7.5 game over under would be a good trade for me im not risking a big bet for 7.5 even though I’ve got us on 9 wins 6.5 looks like a reasonable value bet
  19. I’m not a betting person however if the line was 6.5 I would be extremely tempted to wager a large sum on the huskers when in lv in a couple of weeks was on 6 wins last year, 4 in 2017 and 7 in 2016- so mixed results but pretty darn confident donu can get to 7 wins in 2019 with friendly schedule im guessing the line will probably be in the 7.5 area which I still feel good about- just not confident enough for a size wager 6.5 would be very tempting
  20. Correct we have to look at the entire picture our d getting marginally better is just part of the picture if opposing offenses go max slowdown and long possession us, their defenses get plenty of time to rest and limit our possessions on offense that would make each possession significantly more valuable that means turnovers become significantly more valuable as does that last possession clock management we got better at both as season progressed Special teams were bad Kick coverage punt coverage kick returns punt returns lots of hidden yardage there it got somewhat better lindsay being gone helps same with lighthorn our field position game has to dramatically improve this season
  21. The point is He was not ranked while he was here in Nebraska after his 2014 season where he was just honorable mention- that is a fact he must have been ljs honorable mention - I read it somewhere back then omaha world herald doesn’t have him as even honorable mention so nobody knew about him until he went to img https://www.omaha.com/neprepzone/football/nebraska-high-school-football-all-class-teams-honorable-mentions/article_90f9f3a9-92e9-54b3-9592-77289c4eb7a4.html thats why he went to img- that is what we were discussing he went to img to: to get stars recognition and a scholarship which he didn’t get until he played at img Iirc he played more d than offense when he first got there his early Hudl film had more d stuff than o i don’t think he started right off the bat then kinda came into his own on offense - loved playing at img Yes my point was it did work out thanks to the img affiliation and some camp work / that was my contention from the start highly unlikely georgia or Mississippi state are interested in him if he was at Lincoln se instead of img right? Those teams were picking over the entire img team for prospects kansas state maybe but they take Lower ranked kids all the time he has wanted to play at nu since he was 7-8 years old had to go to img to make that happen for a guy like Riley great kid, but hasnt cracked the 3 deep hasnt been mentioned in any press to speak of And probably won’t play yes I agree with you rileys recruiting stunk anyone who plays at img is going to get a bunch of attention lincoln se not as much
  22. That simply isn’t true Broc finished his sophomore year 2014 at southeast as an honorable mention and no stars honorable mention guys in Nebraska aren’t getting 3 star rankings prior to the next season his mom enrolled him at img for his junior year so he could earn a scholarship she was sold on the idea that he wasn’t getting enough exposure here by his private Lincoln speed trainer He didn’t have the stars before he left and I followed it very closely
  23. I guess we are not allowed to have that opinion here bust is a harsh word kids who had injuries are they busts ? adam Taylor, Zach darlington imo they are in different boat than highly touted guys who were healthy and never saw the field im sure there was some type of discussion at one time or another about these kids and others as to if they would see the field or not if Cj never sees the field at least he got a good education, gave it his best and got to run out of the tunnel insanely great athletes don’t always have great football careers, that’s life hope he beats the odds, I’m just doubtful he will even with my rose colored glasses on and hopeful Husker mindset
  24. You have to start somewhere frost has created a very family friendly environment nu upped his salary by what half or third? he won’t have to leave due to money like he has done in previous moves nu will over pay him if need be thank you big i knew these people really well- our family friendly culture might be the glue that keeps him here for awhile the weather not so much however there are significant pods of polys in colder places like Utah and northern Nevada never know its a great start though Other places even high schools targeting these kids https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=95295728
