  1. Finally a screen pass that worked. Now I get what all those were for last year. Amazing what happens when our downfield threats are playing and being better utilized. Actually some pretty neat plays called with an occasional poorly ran play mixed in.
  2. Playing prevent on the play and didn’t trust himself to catch without blockers to support. Thought I do agree that we need to get the confidence back in special teams in all facets again
  3. To be down by less than a touchdown after this half of special teams (emphasis on special), I consider us in a good position.
  4. Martinez gets nothing for the jaw hit in the first half… and we get flagged for the shoulder? These refs are incredible.
  5. The way fans hold their breathe every time Martinez takes off reminds me of T-Magic
  6. I like the aggression but the way these conference refs selectively choose when to throw flags is beyond frustrating. It feels very blatant
  7. I’m not so sure that is a wise practice unless the coach is causing legal issues, breaking rules, etc. I believe the AD and administrator need to trust their coaches to staff to the best of their abilities. That said, I’m sure Trev and Scott will evaluate everything as the year goes on and at season’s end.
  8. That may be the official titles, but Dirk was a key figure in getting facts misconstrued and have media/fans swayed on Husker coaches. There is a reason that Pelini and the players during that era were/are very skeptical of him. Journalists, reporters and columnists are all generally viewed as equal terms from the average fan or reader’s perspective.
  9. Though I think some reporters (Dirk) get their own feelings in their reporting and stories, his point is legitimate. A lot of self-inflicted problems caused by an inconsistent line. Some great sequences where they gave Adrian all day, unfortunately a lot of plays where they didn't look good collectively.
  10. Need Stepp in, Johnson And Ervin are decent players but we need a running back threat to churn out 5-6 yard runs and Stepp is our best bet for those in my opinion.
  11. Will probably get a better shot at playing time there so can't blame him. I don't consider this a big loss for the class, shouldn't be a heavy position of need given all the youth and size already in the program.
  12. Stepp should be the option A at RB. Offense seems to flow easier with him in, churns out yards and isn't afraid of contact. Reminds me of Ozigbo. Offensive coaches should take notice and plug him in and ride him for awhile each game. Sub in Ervin, Scott, Morrison & Johnson as changes of pace but bulk of carries should go to Stepp. With some decent blocking, first downs should follow. More pressure coverage in the secondary would be nice. Opponents seem to find big, open holes in our defense while we often struggle to get separation from defenses.
  13. But makes the tackle though, right? Will take that kind effort any day of the week.
  14. Greenhagen (47) with 25 tackles on the game is nuts. Great effort, would be a solid addition to any program
  15. Big stat we haven’t won very often in the Frost tenure. When we have, we usually won those games. Would be good to continue this trend.
  16. I think it’s (in part) due to our difficulties with mastering the basics of the offense. When the run game can get going (3-4 yards or more a carry), the playbook opens up a lot more.
  17. Any word on why Martin hasn’t made it in today? Or did I miss him out there?
  18. We must not be watching the same games. Stepp is our best back. Gets downhill faster and always seems to fall forward. Ervin, Morrison and Johnson need to be change of pace. Offense should lean on Stepp much more to be successful.
  19. Dismuke with his first true contribution as a Husker. Only took the 5-6 years but hey better late than never.
  20. Agreed, but Martinez being a four year starter and captain… gotta have some leadership in his spot. I do think he is currently our best QB, just wish success would follow the experience.
  21. Agreed completely, no idea behind the logic to give them so much space.
