  1. He'll be losing his job, but it's nice that he's pointing out that Obamma and team should go back to being community organizers on the South Side. But, in defense of The Community Organizer, Obamma gave McChrystal a lot of the resources he wanted for Afghanistan. --- By MATTHEW ROSENBERG in Kabul and PETER SPIEGEL in Washington U.S. Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the top allied commander in Afghanistan, prepared to head to Washington Tuesday and issued a public apology for reportedly mocking Vice President Joe Biden and other senior administration officials in a magazine article due out later this week. The eight-page article in this week's issue of Rolling Stone is titled "The Runaway General" and portrays Gen. McChrystal and his staff as rogues with little regard for Washington officials from President Barack Obama on down. Gen. McChrystal, 55 years old, is directly quoted accusing the U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan, Karl Eikenberry, of undermining his efforts. His aides are quoted anonymously mocking National Security Adviser James Jones, suggesting that an event in France was "gay," and saying the commander has been disappointed with what is perceived to be lukewarm support from Mr. Obama and other administration officials. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704853404575322354071542896.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_LEFTTopStories Top Afghan commander summoned to Washington By ANNE GEARAN and JULIE PACE (AP) – 1 hour ago WASHINGTON — The top U.S. commander in Afghanistan has been summoned to Washington to explain his controversial comments about colleagues in a recent interview, Obama administration officials said Tuesday. The officials say Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who has issued an apology for his comments, has been ordered to attend the monthly White House meeting on Afghanistan and Pakistan in person Wednesday rather than over a secure video teleconference, so he can discuss his comments with President Barack Obama and top Pentagon officials. The officials spoke condition of anonymity to discuss the general's schedule. An article in this week's Rolling Stone magazine depicts McChrystal as a lone wolf on the outs with many important figures in the Obama administration and unable to persuade even some of his own soldiers that his strategy can win the war. In the interview, McChrystal is described by an aide as "disappointed" in his first Oval Office meeting with President Barack Obama. The article says that although McChrystal voted for Obama, the two failed to connect from the start. Obama called McChrystal on the carpet last fall for speaking too bluntly about his desire for more troops. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iqhOEM11_2TpZDQin6IhUPZ0DdsQD9GGA15O0
  2. Obamma is not worthy of holding the greatness of Husker gear.
  3. Dear Big Ten: Roll out the red carpet for the Big Red June 9, 2010 By Dennis Dodd CBSSports.com Senior Writer They're special, Jim, so be kind. In fact, a red carpet of some kind wouldn't be considered over the top. They are the Big Red. The only Big Red that matters. Nebraska. A program that forged its reputation playing walk-ons from the state's cornfields. It was recruiting New Jersey before Rutgers had a clue. At one time, its coaches used to know California better than The Governator. It is a national program with incredibly deep local roots so be gentle, Jim, because Nebraska football isn't a "brand" or "inventory" as you like to call the games you sell to networks. Nebraska football isn't just something to fill air time on the Big Ten Network. It is a culture. It is brawn. It is Outlands, Heismans. It is the Great Plains version of Michigan -- with its pride still intact. Now it's all yours, Jim. Don't mess it up. Don't make Nebraska football into ... Purdue, something lost in the haze of a 16-team conference. I'm talking to you, Jim Delany. This is on you, the Big Ten commissioner. You didn't just invite a school or a team or a program. You invited a state, its people, its past, its future, its ethic. You invited 45 percent of Notre Dame Stadium. That's the percentage of red that showed up in the Irish's football shrine when the teams met in 2000. You invited one half of the Game of the Century. You invited those thousands of balloons that are released into the Lincoln sky after the home team's first touchdown. You invited Devaney, Osborne, Gill, Rozier, Alberts, Wistrom and Suh. Next up could be Colorado headed to the Pac-10 Conference. A source close to the Nebraska athletic department told The Denver Post on Wednesday that the Cornhuskers are moving on. Multiple media outlets around the Big 12 also reported sources close to the Huskers saying they're bolting, with a move expected to be officially announced Friday when Nebraska regents meet. Once Nebraska's move becomes official, it could unleash a tidal wave of other moves nationally — with the Pac-10 ready to raid six Big 12 schools, including Colorado, along with Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. 4. Heck, Perlman told some of his friends back on May 13th that Nebraska was going to the Big Ten.
  5. You obviously have excellent taste in music. Bosque County Romance is once of the greatest country songs in the history of the genre.
  6. I'm listening to traditional jazz on Pandora.com. Before that it was blues and before that it was rockabilly and surf music.
  7. Happy birthday, Mel. Have a great fuggin' Go Big Red day! And remember what my 81-year old dad says: Life is too short to drink cheap wine!
  8. Sometimes I turn down the TV's volume, put on some great music and entertain my aforementioned sexual fantasy about her! The food she cooks isn't particularly complex - mostly it's easy "comfort food" to her.
  9. I know some of you youngsters look to some of us older farts for occasional advice. Here's one: Do not try vodka eyeballing! Hell, I'd even recommend LSD instead of this! (But not through the eyes either!) Melissa, who left university last summer and is now 22, believes they are right to be worried. Her constantly watering left eye has been left permanently scarred by her antics. More worryingly still, she has been warned that her eyesight may deteriorate further as she gets older. 'I'm in constant pain because of what I did,' she says. 'And I'm terrified that it will get worse. I wish I could turn the clock back and change things. But I can't.' 10. I like Anthony Bourdain a lot and Andrew Zimmern too for their adventures. And back in the olden days I enjoyed Justin Wilson for the great food, funny way he talked and the fact that he used to take a lot of nips off of the wine bottle. But currently my favorite is Rachel Ray's show because I can clearly imagine myself having wild animal sex with her!
  11. My politics come from the truth - don't yours?
  12. If you want to go even farther northwest than Seattle, check out the San Juan Islands. I have a friend who lives on Orcas and have been there and and over to Friday Harbor Harbor on San Juan Island. Drive from Seattle north on I-5 and then over to the ferry landing at Anacortes. Ferry schedules are available on-line. There's lots of nice little hotels, but be sure to make a reservation first. And as someone said, the coast of Oregon is great!
  13. What if there were no hypothetical questions?

  15. is trying to run faster

  16. I can completely relate as the same thing happened to me five and a half years ago. Congratulations!
  17. I saw a cool video of a group of killer whales teaming up to capsize a small ice float on which a seal was lounging.
  18. Those are some cute photos! Good job! (Funny how you give them brandy to conk out for naptime like that.)
  19. I see evidence of that here in Missouri. Many Mizzousier fans are very bitter about the Huskers' football dominance of the past 45 or so years. It goes to the point of just being outright non-logical. They cannot see the greatness of the Nebraska football program, the University, or the loyal fan base, because they are just so emotionally wrapped up in the history of their team losing. GBR!
