  1. Speed is good. It also has a lot to do with the field at Illinois. INCREDIBLY slow, every ground ball is apt to die in no man's land, I've never heard anything quite like it.
  2. Forecast is for clear skies and near 50-degree temps. http://www.weather.com/weather/tomorrow/Champaign+IL+USIL0209:1:US
  3. It looks like Roeder is a prototypical closer. Vogt doesn't seem totally comfortable in the role, unlike the relief outings he had last year. Put him back in his comfort zone, hopefully strengthen the pitching staff (who are doing very well as it is).
  4. It sounds like they want to get Hirsch 3-4 meaningful innings. And here he be.
  5. Bummer was never going to pitch more than 3-4 innings today by design.
  6. I thought we might split these, great job by Christian DeLeon. Again.
  7. At least there were some tangible things to improve on. Texas was the better team, but not by a very wide margin. Just gotta keep their heads straight.
  8. Can't make those mistakes (e.g. bunting, dropped pitchout) against good teams. If you want good news, you can make some of those mistakes against Big 10 teams.
  9. I think some of our bullpen guys need a confidence bump, and they're not going to get it from these umps. I just can't fault them that much, they're hitting some really good spots that hopefully will pay off in a less corrupted environment
  10. Getting very few of the borderline pitches called favorably. Seems. . .almost biased
  11. Bummer pretty much did exactly that. It's unbelievable. But the missed pitchout was bigger, inning could have been done.
  12. Definitely getting squeezed. Even so, could have thrown better pitches earlier in the inning that led to this situation.
  13. DeLeon gives me some hope for the pitching staff yet.
  14. Easily the best starter we've had in 6 games.
  15. I think they gave themselves a pretty good chance to win. Pierce did what he had to and the umpire didn't do his job. Things unraveled from there, disappointing yes, but still some things to build on.
  16. I like what DeLeon did today, I think he might have earned a start next weekend?
  17. Not sure why King gave up so many runs, but Nebraska had a late lead and might've been able to pull it out if they'd brought Vogt in for the 7th, like they've been talking about doing all week Edit: forgot to add: this was what I wanted from the game. At least a chance for the guys to pull it out late. Game 2 so far, not going as well...
  18. http://www.snappytv.com/snaps/about-cal-state-fullerton-baseball-on-cal-state-fullerton-baseball--2 try that link for instant gratification. It is behind, as 95 said.
  19. I just want them to play better than yesterday and give themselves a chance in the late innings.
  20. he had a couple hit batters... and a couple wild pitches that either moved or scored runners... gotta shore those things up To his credit, Pierce didn't throw any WPs. I try to pump sunshine wherever I can find it Boxscore
  21. The freshmen did pretty well in relief. Pierce didn't walk anybody, so maybe he was just too amped for the opener and that's why he was elevating the ball a little bit
