Watching my 9 year olds last football game of the year...then 'tailgating' at home!

Game day morning to everybody! I just got done getting the coals ready in the smoker and put a 9-lb marinated pork loin on for the game. Someone had asked about favorite game day beverage...so...what do you have cooking for the game??? We have about a dozen people coming over and we'll be munchin' on: -Smoked Pork Loin (marinated in beer, apple juice, maple syrup and some spices...then put a dry rub on) -Bacon-wrapped Tater Tots (it was on Man v Food last week, have to try it) -Little Smokies -Sour Cream & Corn Dip -Nacho Dip (red tortillas of course) -Home-made Cole Slaw -Veggies and other 'munchies' Hopefully somebody is bringing some cookies or something to counter the amount of sodium about to be consumed!!!

For those of us 30 years old and above "The Scoring Explosion" poster was one that probably hung in all of our rooms. I personally remember tracing it for a 3rd grade art class. Well...we have a NEW scoring explosion...and I gave my best attempt, though I'm not as skilled as many, as updating that poster. Thanks to HUSKERFAN1520 on getting me a couple images of the players cleaned up. The Original: 2010 Version:

Sorry...I apologize for using a Leonardo DiCaprio movie. We discussed banning you for it, but instead we decided that making you watch the movie would be punishment enough. what movie was it? For some reason I thought we were talking about Gilbert Grape, but it was Catch Me If You Can. The latter is, of course, a pretty good show. Ha! Gilbert Grape was awesome. So many great lines... "Find The Duck!"..."Match in the gas tank...BOOM-BOOM!" and of course..."MAMA'S A WHALE!!!" But yes...I used Catch Me If You Can for my movie poster re-make.

I guess most are aware, but thought it needed to be called to attention anyway. There are so many 'fans' that are always quick to point out or complain when Nebraska isn't being favored, talked about, or gushed about on ESPN (among other outlets). Well in case you haven't noticed...we are the 'IT' team and subject. I think National Title talk is pretty premature at this point...but it's out there. Martinez for Heisman talk is a little early...but he's the hot topic. Nebraska is the 'cool kid' once again on the block. And everyone is talking about it. Just to remind everyone that ESPN (among other outlets), doesn't 'hate' Nebraska. Nebraska just hasn't been at the top of the polls or everyones awareness. That's how the media works. Here's to back up all the attention and talk and smear a little burnt orange on the Field Turf of Memorial Stadium. Put the demons to rest from last year's Big 12 Title Game...and the season is half over...do that and everyone across the nation will not only hear that Nebraska is for real, they may actually believe it. GBR!

Yeah, believe me when he was asking for Pokemon I had to see it in the store to believe it was still around. And there are countless things on the shelves begging to be purchased. $4 for a pack of 12 cards...dumb. This jersey is a little big so it should fit him for at least a couple of years. He just outgrew his last one. Hopefully there will be a good #3 for the next couple years...oh wait...Martiniez is a Redshirt FRESHMAN...so we're OK there!!!

Ha! Wow...keen eye! What about the Pokemon cards??? Not dad of the year knapp...I couldn't make myself fork over $300+ for Texas tickets. Maybe just Dad of the week.

Well it was a brand new shipment that they got at Husker Authentic this week and they were gone the same day they came in. Thenarse/Martinez...whichever...they are impossible to find right now!

So my son turned 9 on Monday...and on Sunday night springs on us that he wanted a skateboard. Well we had planned on having a Birthday/Husker party last night so I had to come through. I got a basic board from Target and have a friend (JC at Design 8 signs - they do awesome work - shameless plug) who does graphics and signage. I asked him to put something together for me. Here is my son's one of a kind board...and him in his new Taylor Martinez jersey...which is pretty much impossible to find, but Grandad (my dad) always comes through too!!! Happy Birthday and Go Big Red!!!

I am not NEARLY as skilled as most of the people on here...but I have fun trying...

Its funny how quickly we can forget the past (where we just forgot about the past). A few years ago we were complaining about this spread/pass offense and why isn't the QB keeping on the run. I think the QB keeping the ball worked pretty well for us for about 30 years or so with guys named Gill, Frazier, Crouch.

Saw the Mohawk guy. Old drunk guys at the bar we were at were arguing if it was real hair or not. Also saw this guy... Who in the look alike thread I said looked like Goldust... He must be like the less intimidating slightly more feminine version of the Raiders guy...

It's not up to the coaches as much as it is him (running his routes and doing his job) and Martinez finding him. And right now...it appears that Kinnie is Martinez's go-to guy. 150 passing...105 to Kinnie. Welcome to the world of double teams Kinnie...Martinez better go through his progressions and find some others. But love the combo right now!
