  1. I'd give the edge to our LBs over the WRs there. Yes, they've been together, and yes, I like all our WRs, but esp. without Purify, are they as reliable as a B+ corps should be? I don't think so. Questionable hands almost everywhere. They may be better than anything we've seen in the option attack years, but I don't think they're quite elite. At least, our potential stars of the future (Henry, Paul) are still just that - stars of the future with potential. 40-16 seems absurdly unlikely. Predicting scores might be useless, but it's a much closer game on paper than that. Even in our down years, we hung right in there with Texas at home. Our 7-7 year, we had so many chances to beat Texas. Came down to a lot of missed field goals and squandered 4th down opportunities in a 3-point game. IIRC, we were pretty well unranked and they were Top 15 at least.
  2. It seems legitimate; we're part of a conference, we're not independent, after all. Besides, if the NU moves to the Big 10 (which would make 12 schools, interestingly enough), then it *will* share, because that's what they do, right? If we want the Big 12 to be as nationally competitive as we'd like it to be, then it is time to start thinking about the whole. The solution, in my view, is not to bolt to another conference with "better" teams. It's to make the teams in our conference better. Every team has to start somewhere. Inadequately funded schools aren't going to turn into national stalwarts overnight, or without help...we're part of this conference, and we should do our share for it.
  3. ....it's shocking that it was an 11-year old, both in the drinking and reckless behavior...and how she managed to actually lead police on a chase. Where did she learn how to drive? How did she not crash getting out of the driveway or onto the highway if she's drunk?
  4. So it started out as a social hangout site for college kids. A really large percentage of college students have facebook. It's since expanded to high school, and most recently, anyone can join. Once upon a time, it was nothing like myspace; it has since moved in leaps and bounds in that direction.
  5. What? Why did Marlon Lucky change his number? #20 was fine!
  6. What?...the "top 25 players to face West Virginia"? What kind of list is that?
  7. Where does it say '97? Maybe they are referring to his Heisman year...though they only made it to the Championship game I guess. Odd. No, it was all the championship teams of the past ten years. Below, the icon says '97 Huskers.
  8. It's a difficult road for the athletes...so easy to mess up...it's a good thing he's doing something with his experience. So much potential....agree with AR, more athletes need to read this. It's a humbling story and offers the kind of perspective that gets lost in the kind of recruiting we're doing today.
  9. Way to go, ESPN....awww, you guys rock. http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnatio...stranker?id=643 Now let's get Sam Keller's Cornhuskers up there.
  10. Puh-lease. This is obviously the breakout season for the Buffaloes. Those guys play some real tough football down in Boulder. Watch out! If they can pull off a Sept. 1st victory against CSU, it could be a long road ahead for all their '07 opponents.
  11. I wonder what could have been with Dailey if we hadn't gone WCO...and had a better team
  12. Hahaha...I think it's just the helmet, not the head. Look at the neck. His head's on straight. Physically, anyway :-PP
  13. You know...this kind of miffs me, and plenty of others, I'm sure...remember how we actually had to, you know...apply for colleges? And spend nervous days twiddling our thumbs waiting for the decision envelopes in the mail.... What a world of privilege these kids live in.
  14. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=688746 I found this really funny. I kinda like Hawaii...not that I can really root for a team other than Nebraska in NCAAF, but Hawaii seems like a pretty cool team, a little TTech like with their pass-happy offense and reloading of QBs. Or maybe that's just short term memory. Anyway, I didn't know they beat those 4 teams...wish them the best! Until they play us, anyway.
  15. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content....&CID=681081 Follow the countdown! It's the offseason, so meh, it's worth a read, whatever they put out about us. I was expecting Nebraska to appear on the list sooner, but looking good so far! Where do you think we'll end up on their season preview? I'm guessing No.21, for the record. Wouldn't be shocked if it were tomorrow. I don't care where they rank us, I just want to read...dammit.
  16. I am I wouldn't mind if Bowman came back flawlessly from injury, or if Jones steps up and becomes the stud he's expected to be. But unless Bowman returns to full speed, I'm rooting for Grixby to have a stellar season.
  17. The fact that he's in a Kitty uniform instead of Husker red doesn't change his merits as a player I suspect Keller is low because he is somewhat of an unknown. I hope he lives up to his Heisman contender status this time last year...
  18. How about the O-line? There just seems to be a lot less set in stone this year, whereas last year, we felt really good at QB, HB, and LB.
  19. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zac_Taylor As of July 4, 7:53 revision, Zac Taylor's 2006 statistics on his wiki site are a little off. I mean...come on. Pretty sure he had 6TDs. Darn wikipedia, so inaccurate.
  20. Yeah, it was in our '98 loss to KSU.
  21. What does it mean, he deleted his old blog? Confused...
  22. I think we'll see some good things out of Teafatiller and Todd Peterson. On the defensive side, always good to pay close attention to Murillo and our rising CBs (after all, Bowman, Jones, and Grixby are seniors). How about Anthony Blue?
