  1. Do any of yall remember 1992, Braves clinch World Series postgame?

    How times have never changed

    From the LA Times

McCarver said the first time Sanders doused him, he was so shocked that he pulled a muscle in the right side of his back. After it happened a third time--while he was doing interviews--McCarver said he went in search of Sanders in the Braves’ clubhouse.

“I didn’t know what I would do or say, but as I was going toward the middle of the clubhouse, Sanders was creeping up with another tub of water,”

McCarver said during a conference call with reporters Thursday. “He said, ‘Where’s McCarver?’ and I said, ‘I’m right here.’

“He tried to hit me with another tub that missed me, and I said, ‘You know, Deion, you’re a real man, you are a real man.’ I thought it was a deliberate, cowardly act.”

Deion Sanders, in a taped interview with TNT’s Ernie Johnson, said: “How can you be a coward for throwing water on someone? The guy just didn’t want us to win and we did. He just got a little wetter than anybody else.
He’s flat-out ignorant. He’s more of a coward. I never met the man, and I never spoke to him in my life. We were just having a good time.”

For the record, McCarver was not just the analyst during the broadcast, but was a Major League Catcher from 1959 to 1980.

  2. Chicago also drafted the punter from Iowa, Tory Taylor in Round 4.

Ray Guy Award Winner, 48.2 ypp, can flip the field and pin the ball inside 10 yard line.  Nice get.

Explain why Jameis Winston sucked at NO?  He played 9 home games in a dome, road game at Atl, Carolina and Tampa. So that's practically 12 games in near perfect weather conditions where most QBs can do pretty good in that environment and yet his TD to INT ratio is like 1.2:1.  Or explain Rattler who played for the Falcons and had the same ideal conditions and also sucked bald donkey balls.  CJ had a great season, the question now is, now that teams have a season worth of film on him and can adjust to what they do, can he continue to be a great QB or was it a flash in the pan season?

Pretty good counter about Winston :thumbs  And others have benefited from domes and others have failed as well.

The bottom line is really this....  I'm just a Houston Texan hater :P

CJ Stroud is actually pretty awesome.

I don't know if there's an angle for the NFL to make money off the guardian cap, but they are justifiably scared of the brain injury stats curtailing participation and fueling lawsuits.

They get a cut (NFL) if worn.  They get another cut (bigger) if players switch to one of the new 6 helmets they rolling out this year.

No one here (me) is downplaying brain injury and lawsuits as an option.  But I knew someone would touch on that as a pivot, instead of agreeing that guardian caps look horrible and stupid.

  5. The guardian cap is an embarrassing look for the sport, and it looks stupid.  But, someone has to make money f#&%ing things up, as long as the NFL gets their cut. That's how it goes.

Speaking of keeping things unreal, CJ Stroud doesn't play for Pitt or New England or Cleveland or Jets, Giants, Buffalo, etc.....

CJ Stroud plays 9 games underneath a dome for 9 home games, with no wind factor or temp below 55 degrees..... And plays road games in Indianapolis, Jacksonville Florida and Tennessee.

He practically playing 13 games out of 17 with perfect weather like the combine.

I'm not buying the hype. Because most QBs can do pretty good in that environment week after week.

He sucked at Baltimore.  The proof was there.

B- is about as good of a grade as I've seen for the Broncos.

But he only gave out two grades lower than that.  And they were both C+.

So apparently he thinks everyone did great.

Yeah I noticed that too about the grades and rolled my eyes.

I like the Bo Nix pick.  Wish it was Penix instead, but Atlanta knows Cousins has 2 1/2 years of guaranteed money with Achilles injury.  For a team that plays under a roof like CJ Stroud does, it was a smart move.  No matter how unpopular.  The future matters.

How's everyone feeling about their team's picks last night?

Cowboys added some value by trading back and got the guy they seemed to want all along. I do worry that he played RT almost exclusively. Although he didn't allow a sack last year.

Bo Nix time in Denver... Seemed a little high but sounds like that's they Payton wanted @Mavric

49ers took a WR? Have to get @Guy Chamberlin's take on that

My Chicago Bears drafted QB Caleb Wiliams and WR Rome Odunze with the first 9 picks in the 1st round.

So happy that they nailed it.  The future looks very good for Chicago.....

What the heck is wrong with your Oilers? They failed to win me a bunch of $$ last night. I figured Kings, at home, in the playoffs….can’t possibly lose. Wrong.

Of course the problem may have been me. Went 0fer 3 yesterday.

    Toronto-nope.

    Dallas-nope.

    Edmonton-nope.

Sorry Homie...  :(   We are usually pretty good with the puck into the net thing.

Except in OT and Conference Finals

    :nutz

  10. During "the covid period" ?

The time when the world was turned upside down?  People dying.  Zoom meetings, masks, covid shots, etc...  I mean they even played games with cardboard cutouts for fans.

I don't mind teams getting fines, penalties and probation.  As long as it was outside of that nerve-wrecking crisis time (covid).

  11. NBA Playoffs
    8 teams per Conference
    Teams seeded 1-6 are in.
Teams seeded 7-10 play to become the 7th and 8th seed.

    Western Conference
    #1 - OKC
    #2 - Denver
    #3 - Minnesota - vs Phoenix
    #4 - LA Clippers - vs Dall
    #5 - Dallas - vs LA Clip
    #6 - Phoenix - vs Minn

    Tonight - Tuesday

#8 LA Lakers at #7 NO Pels
    - the winner earns the 7th seed and will play Denver in the 1st round.  That is what is on the line for this game.

#10 Golden State at #9 Sacramento
    - the loser of this game is eliminated from the playoffs

    - However, The winner of this game then plays the loser of the Lakers/Pels on Friday, for the final spot and 8th seed, against OKC.

All rounds in the playoffs are best-of-seven series.  Even though I think the first round should be best-of-5 series, because the playoffs are long and we really don't need a game 7 in the first round.  It's already a long season, and we don't need guys getting tired.  Either you are good enough to advance through 5 games or you are not.

We are in April and the NBA Finals will be in June.  But I digress....

I am adding this so that I can have it handy when watching the "play-in" games tonight and friday.  It is still a little confusing at times.  But it's ok

  12. This is so sad and sudden.  I am glad he decided to bring it up after trying to keep it quiet.

I will pray for him and wish him the best.  PanCan is so aggressive.  6 months tops, but typically 3-6 months to live after diagnosis.  At least from what I have always known.  And that time goes quickly and it's no picnic at the same time.

  13. 2-0 count, bases loaded, 1st round rookie up at the plate.

Angel Hernandez calling balls and strikes... here we go again

  14. So Denver is the the clear favorite to win it all again.:woo

We see it with our own eyes, and I hope they run it back.  I love watching Denver play, win, dominate, while every team that plays them got no answers....

However let's talk about the West

    Denver

    T-Wolves

    OKC

    LA Clippers

    NO Pels

    Dallas

    SAC Kings

Who fighting to make the play-in for the NBA playofs?

    LA Lakers

    Phoenix Suns

    Golden State Warriors

There is enough Super Stars on these teams, with All-stars and MVPs......the faces of the League...... And

    Someone won't make it.

Wore 16 in HS because it wasn't 14 (my older brother's number) also because of Joe Montanana.  Had to wear 39 my freshman year of college because 16 was taken.  I also asked for 8 (half of 16)   but was also taken.  Wore 16 for 3 seasons as a safety just like Joe Montana

    That's awesome !

Wore 19 in HS (QB) and started every game as a SR, even though I was pretty good at throwing dimes to the opponents.  It was the only year I played football since I did the same thing as a freshmen QB lol.  I wanted to be #19 so I got it.  Our numbers were huge and I loved it.

Wore 14 in HS (hoops).  It's my 2nd favorite number.  Started Varsity 3 years in a row.  Had some fun moments in the gym.

Wore 18 in HS (Baseball).  It's my favorite number.  Varsity starter all 4 years, did well, got drafted, went to the minor leagues blah blah blah.

I call total BS on this.

    How is that BS?

The idea of moving him to WR at Nebraska was a message board fantasy, and the media's wet dream too.

In the end he became more valuable at WR, but still..... Frost had 2AM at QB1 forever, playing up and down and inconsistent...., and he brought along Luke.  That's all they had at QB.

If he had said "yes there was some talk after 2 years and I didn't want to start all over"..... then yes, it would be something.

However, you got to take the man's words at face value when he is being asked a loaded question.  He said there wasn't, so I believe him.

  19. I remember Glen Rice with Georgia Tech having a silky smooth shot..... I can't remember if it was with Mark Price or Kenny Anderson at PG.  Great shooter but not the best.

Also, Eric Piatkowski was insane from 3 point land and def in the Convo.... Wish others got to see the Polish Rifle shoot at Nebraska..... He was a bomber

I didn't remember Hunt being a three-point bomber.  But apparently so.

Jimmer Fredette probably in that conversation as well.

    Great add about Frederette !!!!

Yeah Hunt was jacking up 8 threes a night with the Running Rebels. When they won with Larry Johnson. Long time ago lol
