  1. I've read some funny things on this board, but that my friend is hilarious!! I may have to incorporate that into my signature if you dont mind.
  2. X , you make intelligent points and a lot of people here wouldn't argue, because we understand this. We want what's best, and whoever is named HC will certainly be the best that we can get per Osborne. And hopefully the new HC will be supported and welcomed. Going off of records speak for themselves, Chris Petersen is 22-2. He beat OU when they had Adrian Petersen on the national stage. He won Bear Bryant Coach of the year. He produces with the talent they have. Teams around the country are not lining up to play these guys in non-conference b/c they are tough and they win. Although I personally think the visiting teams spend the entire first half adjusting their pupils on the blue turf, I still think he is the best "up-and-coming" coach out there. But that's my view.
  3. Well, as much as people think it will be Bo or TG, lets look at what Dr. Tom has talked about what he has said is important to him: Experience Gill - Already a coach. Has 2 years OTJ training. Any mistakes have already been made and learned elsewhere. Pelini - has none. It's day one for him. Learning on the job. Character Gill - is a man of integrity and character. Pelini - has a record of some misbehaving in his past. Has been on good behavior lately. Walk On Program and instate recruiting Gill - understands the importance first hand. You dont have to explain this to him. Pelini - I'm sure he would agree just to agree, but no more than Callahan. Excellence, Tradition, Winning, and Competing on the field Gill - no doubt understand this Pelini - no doubt understand this X factor - who has it? Gill - A former player? A close friend of Osborne? A dozen years spent with the program? Dream job? Pelini - Fires up a defense like a cigar. A good motivator. Gets his team emotional hyper/ready. But what happens when emotion cools off? Can he manage everything about a program? If moderately successfull, is this a 5 year stint or longer?
  4. Yah brotha, I just want some peace in the house. I'm not a fan by any means, but if it turns out that way I have to bite my lip and roll with it. I may have to duck out for a week or two while the Bogasms file in.
  5. Uh, no! Buffalo isn't exactly Nebraska. Do you begin to understand that? Listen bud, you are correct that Buffalo isnt Nebraska. But that's all. Because you missed the point.
  6. Thank you. I seriously think a lot of people do not grasp that yet. My opinion above was assuming Gill as the HC, "what type of offense would he run" and not as "the OC".
  7. Turner Gill is not going to leave the highest job you can get in college football (Head Coach), to be an assistant to a Head coach. It's not gonna happen. It's his program. He is the man in charge. He is turning it around. No one would do that. Still have no idea why this doesnt make sense to some people. If anything, Gill can offer Pelini a job at Buffalo. Today. Right now. He really can. Does that help some to understand?
  8. I'm fine with it - if it's TG. Whoever - TO is checking it out very closely. He doesnt want to make a mistake or have regrets. He will be happy with his decision. So will I. Even if it's Pelini. (biting my lip)
  9. Oh SNAP! I think my work / network settings & java are keeping me from getting in. Gonna mess with it.
  10. If we do not win a NC during the new guys tenure after 10 years, I would not be so upset or fire happy. As long as this happens: 9-2, 10-1, 8-3, year after year and build up the program with integrity, toughness, character, and intimidation for any team that schedules NU. Bring in some pride. A ton of it. And get back in the top 10 each year and owning the Big 12 before ever thinking championship. 7-4 is too close to 6-5. If that happens, then I will get concerned. I want a football team with tough gutsy football players. Not a product or a system. Or smoke in mirrors. Any loss needs to be close and competitive. I want the Huskers and the coach to tip their helmets to the other team, give them praise, and then say "we'll get 'em next year", then work at it, and then do it.
  11. I usually do not find myself bothered from what writers report. I dont get peaved from TV broadcasters or analyst. Only one guy keeps me from reading anything he writes. And it's this joker.
  12. By 2014, the Big 12 will have added Arkansas and Iowa, and expand into an internal playoff system with two teams making the wild card game. With regular season, wild cards, and conference championships, the season will be 14 games long. Meanwhile the Big Ten will not sit well when having to reduce their conference from 11 to 10 teams. Figuring it's too confusing (since 10 means 10), they will release Northwestern to the Independents. Fortunately, the Big 10 will still be completing their season no later than Nov 17th, satisfying their own perogative for making BCS games. Aside from jokes, I like having a conference championship.
  13. I'd hire him in an Idaho potato minute! Err.. something like that. Seriously, he's got cred and would be a great candidate. Unfortunately signs indicate the Cessna Jet is not flying west.
  14. Welcome to the board. I think his offense would be balanced, maybe spread. Not sure what he runs at Buffalo. A lot of talent here, so the sky's the limit for what he wants to run. Ideally it will be an offense that gets the most out of the talent he is inheriting, including the younger guys seeing the field.
  15. Thanks Wally for the links and updates. Fellas, keep in mind there will be 4 or 5 people that Osborne will interview. That's what he said. It doesnt mean anything more than that.
  16. Interesting. They are definately moving fast. I can wait until Wednesday, even next week. Still trying to digest the firing.
  17. Actually, the Big 12 has the most prolific offenses in the country. 7 out of the top 20 offenses are in our own back yard, compared to 4 in the SEC (LSU, Florida, Kentucky, Arkansas). Two of those SEC teams beat that tough LSU defense. And that's a fact. No sugar coating. I really believe the SEC teams would have just as much trouble, in fact, a lot of trouble if they traveled to play OU, UT, Mizzou, Kansas, & Texas Tech. Those offenses, as well as the way the Huskers played lately (talking about offense), and Okie State, will give any team fits, including LSU. The Big 12 may not have a traditional powerhouse heading for the BCS title game, but it's b/c the conference has improved greatly with talented QBs leading the way. A lot of hoopla about the SEC, but a lot of proof in the Big 12. All of these guys are back next year. I'm not so convinced that Pelini's defense could stop them all, maybe not even half of them. Bradford - OU Daniel - UM Reesing - KU Harrell - TT McCoy - UT McGee - TA&M Ganz - NU Robinson - OSU Hawkins - CU With that said, if you're defense can not stop them, you better have a group that can slow them down PLUS an offense that can be powerful and talented enough to outscore them.
  18. Most of that was in the first half (close to 400), and within the final three minutes of the game.
  19. I hear what you're saying bro, but isnt that like an oxymoron? Definately a contradictory. Thought that was the only legit point of hiring him.
  20. Now that the Buffalo season is officially over, expect an interview with Turner Gill within a few days.
  21. The INTs - I aint so worried. Not when its high scoring like this. And, a good player becomes great when he learns from adversity. Just got to mix in the run more. CU is baiting the pass.
