  1. Only posting what was public information anyway. The email address was taken off of the University of Minnesota's web page. If anyone wants it, it can be found there. I understand your thinking though. Anyway.... Thoughts and Prayers for Cos and his family.
  2. If anyone would like to send the Cosgrove family an email for well wishes and prayers here is Kevin's email at the University of Minn. I emailed him today with a short email and got a return email thanking me this evening. Email was taken off huskersillustrated where I am a member. Remember, football feelings aside, there are WAY more important things in life than a football game!!! [mod edit]
  3. Yep so I havent been on the board in weeks, due to my recent subscription to Huskersillustrated.com.... (love this board, just not enough time to read both daily) but anyway.... I made it half way to page 3 out of 6 before I just skipped to page 6! WOW is all I have to say! I certainly dont claim to be the smartest guy running around these parts of the country but holy SHIZNIT!!!! I cant believe I managed to read almost 3 pages of that! I think I may have been able to involve my 5 year old niece in this discussion and she could catch on quicker! GBR!!! And people wonder why I
  4. Tmagic you are pathetic. Have a little respect. I am a memeber of Huskersillustrated and this info was posted on the board there. If anyone would like to send Cosgrove a personal email with prayers for his family as I have done here is his email at the University of Minn. cosgr054@umn.edu
  5. Averaging the Rivals team rankings for each team from 2008-2010, the results are: 1. Alabama - 2.3 2. USC - 4.3 3. Florida - 5.3 4. LSU - 6.3 5. Texas - 7.3 6t. Florida State - 8.7 6t. Oklahoma - 8.7 8. Georgia - 9.3 9. Ohio State - 10.7 10. UCLA - 11.7 11. Miami - 12.0 12. Notre Dame - 12.3 13. Michigan - 12.7 14. Auburn - 14.3 15. Tennessee - 18.0 16. Texas A&M - 18.3 17. South Carolina - 19.3 18t. Oregon - 21.3 18t. Virginia Tech - 21.3 20. Ole Miss - 21.7 21. Clemson - 22.7 22. North Carolina - 23.3 23. Penn State - 26.3 24. Nebraska - 26.7 IMO, 24th overall is better than okay. I'm not saying it is outstanding, but good or very good seem like more appropriate adjectives than okay. We'll see how this class ends up, but there are specifics unique to this class that won't be the case every year. 1. We have a commit from a Rivals top 100 OT from Florida, who probably wouldn't have committed if he weren't a legacy. 2. There are two 4 stars in Nebraska this year. This has happened twice since 2004 (2008 and 2011). 3. We are likely the favorite to land a potential 5-star out of Texas. Would we be the favorite if his brother weren't on the team? I disagree that we will recruit like a power. I think that we are making a step in the right direction though, and while our 2008-2010 classes all fell in the 20-30 range, I believe our future classes will land in the 15-25 range more often than not. I just don't see us with class averages similar to the top 14 teams on the list above. This is great work Andy. I agree with what you said in that we will pull in classes that are in the top 15-25 and every so often pull in a top 5 class. Bo and staff have made a lot of great improvements in recruting but to think they will be able to compete Anyday, Anytime, Anywhere if they produce top 25 classes is not realistic in my opinion. Look at the list. To be relevant, they need to produce 1-15. The top 25 won't get ur done. Recruiting has turned into a 24/7, 7 day a week job for most of the staff. To be a top 10 or top 5 school we have go through the top 10 schools. That means we have to be close to them in recruiting, not better or matching but close. Rankings are just rankings to certain extent and are very subjective based on who is doing the rankings, but a 4 star is usually better than a 3 star and a 5 star is always better than a 3. This staff does a tremendous job with the recruits they sign but I am not happy seeing top 25 in recruiting classes and I bet Bo and staff will get better numbers as they gain positive momentum going forward. Really??? How is Marlon Lucky doing these days in comparison to Brandon Jackson???
  6. Curling is considered a sport, an Olympic one in fact...and it looks easier than baking. I've no clue where baking stands on the list of toughest household jobs, but if I'm making the list it's well ahead of sweeping. How 'bout horse racing? It's the sport of kings right? And the twenty-four and a half pound guys on top of those half-ton horses are the very definition of 'along for the ride'. Still, it's considered a sport. NASCAR is a sport. It's not a game, but it is a sport. Football of course is a sport, but it's a game...best one on the planet if you ask me. Not all games are sports, but by the same token not all sports are games. And congrats to Foppa for not being a bigot! Intolerant, insulting and ignorant generalizations of a group of people is universally considered not predjudiced if you are fairly certain the people you are talking about have the same skin color as you! Well Done! Thank you S&B! Couldn't have said it better myself!
  7. Hey Foppa have you ever drove a race car? I bet you'd be done in less than 20 laps. You have no clue how much stamina it takes to control the wheel at a high speed going through corners. And no I'm not "redneck" as you like to generalize it.
  8. I'm not sure what I said for you to call me out. I was just giving you crap about your handle in return, but if you want to meet in the 'shed, I'll be there. I guess it wasnt that I was trying to "call you out". I just felt like your holier than thou approach to Manhattan was a little uncalled for. Not sure why you were calling him out and not anyone that is a husker fan when in all fairness, they do and say the exact type of things about our opponents. Just didnt get why you felt the need to be rude to him for no reason. I try to treat people fairly, but if I see that I'll be the first to respond, as I have no room for somone that thinks they are better than somone else or that they can bully someone around. I guess Im just not affraid to have it out with someone if need be.
  9. Well this is going back a ways, but CU 94 was the loudest I have ever heard the stadium for an entire game. Completely INSANE.
  10. Thanks for your concern. Edit: Just realized that I was told I need to get laid by someone with the handle 'Bleedin_Red.' That's sick. Look dude... from an outsider you are out of line with your comments to Manhattan... Like he stated no different than any of us calling CU sCUm or MU Mizzery, Or KSU KSUcks, or whatever else we come up with. If you would like to keep up the ego I'd be happy to join you in the Woodshed! I was trying to give you crap, and obviously your "Personality" cant handle it. Its your choice!
  11. Cacti you need to get laid. So much tension built up! Relax and go get some tail!
  12. Dan Beebe: "Tom you have until friday to tell us your plans or else"..... Dr. Tom on friday: "Dan im pleased to inform you, that you sir, can go pack sand!"
  13. Lighten up Francis. You'll lose there as would and have any place else. I will dismiss any and every incorrect post(s) whenever I read it/ them. Why wouldn't I? You actually expect me to agree or give credence to the wrong? Not gonna happen pally!!!! First off Junior, Im far from your pally. Second of all I didnt say dismiss anything. However, for you to write somone else off as wrong is what is truly "wrong". So now you are saying that you can predict the future and you have proof to back up YOUR opinion? Has the future already happened for you to be able to back your opinion up with facts? No I dont think it has happened now has it. So once again your statements are nothing more than just YOUR opinion!!! You see where Im going with this genius??? You have no way of knowing the direct impact on recruiting that switching to the big 10 will have in the state of Texas, therefore your statement is nothing more than YOUR opinion!!! Also, if you think im scared of meeting up with you in the Woodshed for fear of loosing to you, you have another think coming. Just as you have backed down on joining me to discuss our differences once before you turn down the invitation once again. Tell ya what.... when your balls drop come and find me and we can settle this in the woodshed if you like! I use logic instead of opinions. You use opinions based on nothing but emotions where I use logic based on actually thinking. There is a HUGE difference. Got it yet pally? Here's hint. You are posting your opinions because I've pissed you off. Emotions lead to being wrong more than they ever will in being correct. Therefore your opinion is wrong.... Again! Where you are pissed at me I am laughing at you. There ya have it captain obvious... Yes you did indeed piss me off! You may be able to sit around and try and bully people around with your arrogance, but not this time. I dont care how much you "think", it doesnt change the fact that you are trying to take your opinion and change it to fact, when you will not have the facts to make your opinion "right" until if and when we join the big 10 and see the impact that takes place. This is the point that you are missing. So therefore, if you'd take time to "think", you'd come to realize that once again, your statements are nothing more than your "opinion" of how the impact of recruiting the state of Texas plays out!

  15. Hey I'm not saying that our recruiting will dry up. Do I think it could have a small impact on recruiting, possibly. The point of my post isn't to dispute the weather or not our recruiting will be impacted. The point of my post is in regards to the fact that many of the posts I have read from Vince have to include him dismissing anyone else's opinion if it differs from his own. As you can see I have been a member since 06 and dont post a whole lot. I am on this board almost daily and for the most part just read what others have to say. It does get old however to constantly listen to this guy and his cocky attitude that nobody else could possibly be right in their opinion if isnt the same as his. And another thing.... Vince since you seem to be the great almighty, if you'd like to join me in the woodshed I would be happy to voice my opinion of you in a place where I wont get banned for it!
  16. Lately. Again, too often people ignore the cyclical nature of college football, where each new recruiting class or each coaching change brings with it a potential to falter. The fact is that three of the top seven teams with the most wins in college football history are from the Big 10 (Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State). This is a conference of teams with extremely stable bases. They are not immune to the fluctuations of victory and loss that all schools fall prey to, but they are less prone than most to stay down for long based on the huge fan bases, traditions and money they have. Did you really think Nebraska would stay down very long when we sucked a few years ago? Of course not. You knew what kind of program we have, what kind of fan base we have, what kind of overwhelming support we have. You knew that we'd right the ship, most likely sooner rather than later. Did you really think Oklahoma would stay down very long when they sucked after Switzer left? Do you really think the football structures supporting the Big 10 schools will allow them to remain below the Pac-10 or the ACC? Really? Yes really. Joining the Big 10 will have ZERO impact on NU's recruiting. Zero impact? We'd be getting most of our talent from the rust belt as opposed to Texas or in the case of PAC-12+4? the warmer climes of all year football out here. It's true almost all teams go through cycles. But in addition to that, there's a large migration of people moving to Warmer climates and I don't see the Big-Televen area making a comeback other than the sacrificial lambs of OSU getting through unscathed only because the rest of the conference is too slow to get many of their players from the south...Or maybe because they're all having the same menstral cycle. Sorry to be dragging my heels, but I've despised the Big-10 for so long..it's hard to do an about face with a smile just because there's money involved. I feel like we're being forced into an aranged mariage with a really UGLY transvestite with a rich Dad and an ironclad pre-nup that doesn't allow us to play with any of our old friends anymore. I didn't learn to hate our rivals yet...but at least I respected them. Again - zero impact. Here let me point out the obvious and what will happen. NU will be so entrenched in TX that by the time NU makes the move the impact will be zero. Add the fact the kids we have from TX will continue to develop and help with recruiting the impact of th Big 10 move will be zero. Before the Big 12 NU did better than really well in recruiting TX. To assume their recruiting success in TX will end because of a conference move is unarguably wrong. Well..Since you branded it unarguably wrong, I'll try to convey my concerns in a whisper. I believe more of our current Texans on the team wanted to get away from home, but still wanted their friends and family to be able to see them play at least one game a year at home. Nebraska was a great compromise because they were guaranteed to have at least a couple of games each season in Oklahoma or Texass. Whisper it or yell it, you're still wrong with your opinion. To assume NU leaving the Big 12 will have a negative impact on recruiting to a level it will be noticeable is just unarguably wrong. Ok so I've read enough already. Vince it never seems to amaze me how your "opinion" is the word of gospel and as soon as someone has an "opinion" that isn't the same as yours it is instantly "wrong". Little piece of advice.... Opinions are like a$$holes, Everyones got one and I hate to break it to you, but yours is no more important than anyone else that chooses to voice theirs!!!
  17. How can you be so sure what T.O. would do as far as trying to schedule OU as an out of conference opponent every year to restore a rivalry? Just curious? I'd think there would be a push from boosters and fans to at least make an attempt to make that happen. Maybe you have more pull than we thought???
  18. Totally agree. I've always said I wouldn't get nervous about this move until the public denials started flowing. It's only a matter of time now. As good as the novelty of a new conference would be, I can't help but hope for something somewhere to break down. Why would you get nervous about NU moving to the Big 10? Compared to staying in the Big Texas Conference, it's the best move they can make and without question the best move for the university and the athletic department and all of the sthletic programs. I'm fine so long as we can preserve our rivalry with OU...and of course we have some unfinished business with UT. I have a lot of friends that went to Penn St and OSU, so that part would actually be kind of fun...to say nothing about how much EASIER it would be to see games. And of course it makes the most sense for the university as a whole in the big picture. I just want to make sure our rivalries are preserved. Sorry to appear to be a ahter, but the Big 12 killed your rivalry with OU. You don't even play them half the time... You're exactly right.... That is why we would like to try to schedule OU every year as an out of conference game so that we can restore our Rivalry with OU.
  19. At least we have something to discuss in the offseason!!!
  20. If Suntrup was at the Spring game and saw Martinez and Green --- then he would know he could walk onto campus day one and out-compete those two in the blink of an eye. Neither of our two "future" QB's are QB's at all. green is not a natural passer or runner and Martinez is not a natural passer (but a great runner). So... if a kid wanted to come to NU as a QB the path is clear. If you are a real QB with real skills (as is the case with Suntrup... or, at least as is what we surmise about Suntrip) then you would have been encouraged by what you saw at the Spring game. Honestly, Lee is the man this year --- without question --- not because he is a wonderful QB, but because he is our only QB. After that, it will have to be Carnes or Turner --- not because we know that Carnes or Turner are necessarily awesome, but because we know that neither Green nor Martinez are really QB's. If Suntrup signed on, he would definitely be in the immediate hunt to start next year. Really??? He could walk on campus from day one and "out compete" both Green and Martinez??? I love how quick you are to throw these two under the bus. You do realize that Martinez is a redshirt freshman and Green is a true sophomore right? Do you realize that this isn't 8 man Nebraska highschool football. Our offense is complex to a degree and it takes time to DEVELOP a QB. It takes experience and there is a lot of mental aspect to learning this offense and being able to make correct reads and be mistake free. Both of these guys are extremely young and need time to develop and learn the mental part of our offense. You dont walk in from day one and take over as a freshman and become Joe Montana. Give it some time before you are so quick to start writing these two off as not real QB's. If you really think that Suntrup could walk in here from day one as a true freshman and beat out Martinez or Green you are delusional! Im calling right now!
  21. Ok maybe I should have clarified. First born and raised to win a Winter Olympics medal. Plus I have no idea, but was Hartung born in Nebraska?
  22. Just wanted to Congratulate Curt on a Gold medal in the 4 man bobsled yesterday. I grew up 7 miles from Curt and hung around him in highschool. He is from Shelby, NE pop. 690. Curt played football for Nebraska. He is the first Nebraska born and raised athlete to EVER win any sort of medal in the Olympics. Congrats Curt!
  23. I happen to know Curt personally. He grew up in Shelby, NE a town of 690 people just 7 miles from me. I too am from a very small town where everyone knows everyone. Im actually only two years older than Curt and spent a lot of time around the guy in highschool. Curt is about the best guy you could meet. One of the nice guys that would do anything for anyone. Congrats to him and team USA 1 in night train on bringing home a gold medal. Also no Nebraska born and raised athlete has ever won a medal of any kind in the Olympics, let alone a gold medal! I was in Shelby last night to watch the 3rd and 4th bobsled runs. They had quite the party at the local 2 bars in town. Just crazy to see a guy you grew up around on TV with a gold medal wrapped around his neck! Congrats Curt!
  24. Well if thats the case, Solich was rummored to have an affair of his own, and T.O. was pissed after he was fired. So what gives?
