  1. I went to the USC game last year... the sad thing is many people on the west coast really think that way about us though... many people at Disneyland asked me... "what is a husker" or "why are so many people in red here". We are completely oblivious to some people out there Like some of us probably think all Californians are airheads (due to the Jay Leno comedy spots where he asks bystanders simple questions.."Jay Walking"?). I actually thought this guy's article was funny. But then..I enjoy competitive ribbing with so called rivals...If you take them seriously..You loose. but are you serious? Sounds like a urinal in a Cat house. Do they still have Gas-n-Shops there? It's one thing to joke about it with friends, but could you really see the Omaha World Herald publishing something like that? Yes there are Gas-N-Shops... http://www.kumandgo.com/

  3. I sent him a email on my "internet machine" we'll see if he responds Here's what I wrote... I shouldn't have waisted my time but people like him piss me off... "I know you are writing your article for shock value and I am just feeding it by emailing you, but common on man, are you such a sh**ty writer that you can't write about anything else and you need readers that bad? People like you are the reason people on the west coast think we still use an outhouse and don't have running water. And maybe you should do a little research before you write an article, Memorial Stadium has bench seating as well, and with all the games I have been to I have never seen a throng of people collapse on each other... and oh yeah 7-Eleven did used to be in Nebraska... I had one in the town I grew up in that was only 5,000 people, they all got bought out by Kum and Go. Yes Nebraska football is life, but we don't have the Raiders, 49ers, Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, Giants, Athletics, Dodgers, Angels or even David Beckham.... but surprisingly we do have DirecTV so we can watch sports outside of Nebraska and you don't even have to worry about getting attacked by Native Americans. Maybe before you crown the 2007 Trojans as the greatest team ever you should win something. You do remember you lost games to UCLA and Oregon State last year right? Live up to 1995 Nebraska this year and then come talk to me, and you are more then welcome to stay with me, but just be warned we will have to go to a museum though to get the picture of a farmer plowing his land with a horse and a wooden plow, I am guessing that would look great in your next article. Have fun on your trip to Nebraska, sorry you'll be let down when you find out we actually do live in the modern times, Jeremy Foote"

  5. If my memory serves me correct... both Jones and Bowman came in fall. So yes, hopefully this will give Murrillo a good head start.
  6. Wow you think he doesn't care, did you see him after the Big 12 Title Game? If he was gone do you think we'd win a national title right away. We'd probabaly get a different system in place and a new coaching staff and we'd have to start all over again... recruit new players all over again, it'd be another 3-4 years before we had any shot at success. And trust me he makes plenty of money at UNL
  7. Anyone looking to get rid of some tickets for the March 13th baseball game against Wayne State College in Lincoln? I am an avid Husker fan but I attend Wayne State in northeast Nebraska so would really like to attend the game in a reserved seat, if not I'll hit the berm.
  8. Keller and the running backs are our only true know quantities.....receivers average at best, the rest is yet to be proven.......reality check, lots of new guys are going to have to step up........ LB's will also be a strong returning position... only lose Bradley. McKeon, Ruud, Octavien, Brandenburgh all returing, plus Dillard back from injury.
  9. Johnson got to campus late in fall practice. They originally were redshirting him then pulled him out. I couldn't find anything that said he was injured. Andre Jones is also back and he did start to lay some big hits at the end of the season. He'll likely be starting over Grixby. I think some people are missing my point... I am not saying that they won't be good! All I am saying is that going into the year it will be a question mark. We are replacing 4 starters!!! I never said Johnson was injured and yes he did get onto the team late, but still never cracked into the rotation. Jones did play well, but without the Bowman injury I doubt he would have seen a ton of playing time, but we'll never know. I think the d-line could be great... but key word, could be... they have to prove themselves yet.
  10. I'll agree with the assistants being emotional, but BC hardly ever shows emotion (unless he is giving the ref a throat slash). Did you see Tuberville give a smile and get excited after the 4th down. The Boise St. coach showed emotion after the game w/ OU. The only thing I saw BC do after the game was smile, it was kinda like well we tried, there is always next year. BC does show emotion... look at him after the first score druing the game or last year during the Michigian game... or when we won the North this year. Sure Tubberville was happy... they were gonna win! It's much easier to show emotion when things are going good
  11. If If If, If we didn't fumble we would have be Texas. If Mo didn't catch the ball we would have lost to A&M. If KU played better in Ot we would have lost. If's don't work. Jump back into reality and see what happened. We did fumble the ball on the fake punt We did fumble the ball against Texas We did catch the football in the closing seconds against A&M We did stop KU in OT Its time to stop living in If fairyland. I think you are missing the point. The point is not about the punt working or not working... the point is Callahan's head should not be on the block because of one play. If the play works no one says he should be fired most likely... however it didn't work and we move on. The point is that it is one play and you don't hang a job on one play...
  12. People say every year that the goal should be a national title. This is true, but also you must set realistic goals... I will be disappointed if we aren't some sort of BCS game next year
  13. Have you never watched the other coaches? When Congdon made that punt our offensive line coach was on the field high-fiving him! Bill Busch is always jacked up... and don't forget the craziest one... Randy Jordan. Have you ever seen film of him at practice... the guy is electric. Next time you are at a game, watch the other coaches, it is hard to see on TV, but most of them are very firery.
  14. Exactly... I would have loved to hear what have been said if Tierre Green would have fumbled the snap during the CU game. The play didn't work, that's why it's called a gamble, that's what happens during college football. Was it too much of a gamble considering the sitiuation, that could be argued, but yes if it is pulled off everyone says Callahan is the man.
  15. If the players didn't trust him they wouldn't be hear, guys would transfter and there would be major problems in the locker room and on the field... guys trust him and obviously so do recruits
  16. Agreed... the main difference this year, we beat every team we were supposed to beat... well except for OSU. Every game we lost we were picked to lose, yes we should have beat Texas and probably Auburn as well. Each year we've progressed, we've gone from losing to teams we should beat to beating teams we should beat, now hopefully next year we'll go from losing games we have a shot at winning, to winning games we have a shot at winning.
  17. This is the crap that makes me sick. "Good fans" can't badmouth Callahan. "Good fans" can't get angry when their team is the better team but are coached to a loss. "Good fans" have to be all cheery and happy with a 9-5 season. Get off your high horse and accept the fact that some people will voice a disapproving opinion of something or someone in the Husker program. You do realize that Carriker played his freshmen year and was a starter his sophmore year unit a cheap shot against I believe Pittsburgh on his ankle. Also it isn't like Moore is finally getting his shot this year, he started last year and go playing time as a sophmore, he just didn't play as much because Bernard Thomas was here... man no one probably thought we'd hear his name again on here.
  18. Moore and Carriker weren't Moore and Carriker before they got their chance to shine either. Remember how we thought that it was Wali Muhammad's job to lose or how Carriker's name was projected to end up behind Adam Blankenship or Dontrell Moore and they almost moved Cryer over to BE because they weren't sure anyone else was going to be able to handle the job.... I have a feeling the D-Line will be fine. Wow... you are worse then a reporter, you are using my quote totally out of context. I never said the d-line was bad this year... I just stated that we have to replace 4 starters on the line next year and that reason allow will be why it will be a question mark going into the season.
  19. I am not saying that they won't be good, I am just saying that it will be a question mark because they are unproven. It is just like a pre-season poll, it is tough to pick because a lot of the time you are making decisions on hype alone. It is easy to say that the linebacking core will be good because we have returning starters and I think it is safe to say that the DB's will be better because... well it can't get much worse. I think the defense line could be very good next year... all I was stating was that it will be a question mark because really it is all off of hype and expectations, we still have to see yet how they play as a unit and remember the guys that were there were all seniors and Carriker and Moore had both started in the program for 3 and 2 year respectivly.
  20. I know a guy that works in the media department... sat in the press box for the Kansas game (definatly a different experience then in the stadium). It is definatly a professionaly run organization... knowing someone that works there is a definate plus, but I would guess that it wouldn't be impossible to get a job otherwise, but still very difficult.
  21. So for all of you that want to fire Callahan... will we fire the next coach in a year or two when we don't win a national title either? Yes Callahan hasn't been perfect, but seriously how can any of you say we haven't improved... and realize that his first real recruiting class is only going to be juniors next year. Sure it isn't fair to compare Osborne and Callahan, but also realize when Osborne started coaching he was coaching in a different era. He inherated a much better team and he was running the same system that had been run before. Also college football was not as competitive as a whole back then, scholarship restirctions were much different and players were different... hell Nebraska was one of the first schools to really use a weightlifting program, everyone wants to just think about what we did in the 90's but I'd like to know what people would say about Callahan if he won every year but lost in bowl games... because as some of you may or may not realize, Osborne wasn't that great in bowl games for quite some time. You don't build a national title contending football team overnight... it takes time. If within the next 2 seasons we don't win a conference title and are a not a national threat, then there may be room to start asking questions on if this was the right move, but for the time being realize that the team has improved each year and I believe we are on track to get to where we need to be.
  22. I think we didnt' see many balls down field this year because Taylor didn't throw that ball that well. I think next year will see it much more because Keller has one of the strongest arms in the nation. Supposidly Mike McNeill will be the real deal, he just needed to bulk up this year, hopefully he will be a threat next season. I've heard the same about McNeill...hope he turns out to be another good TE here for us. If he can bring a dimension like Herian did before his injury, it will be huge for next year.

Supposidly Mike McNeill will be the real deal, he just needed to bulk up this year, hopefully he will be a threat next season.
  24. Agree with most of what you said except for the front four. I think that will be the major question mark going into the season. Barry Turner and Zach Potter are no Moore and Carriker and you never know about JUCO's... Brandon Johnson was a bit recruit, hardly saw the field this year. I think Suh will be our best lineman and that will be big to have a dominate force in the middle. The emergence of Potter and Turner will be soemthing that will be something to watch in the spring.
  25. Next year's schedule will be a tought one. Offense should be improved... Defense should also be improved overall, but the front four will be a major question mark. I think undefeated in the north is a given, Texas will be tough on the road, but I think that is a realistic win as well. USC and Wake will be toughest games in my opinion. I would say that Conferense Title should be the goal at the top of the list.
