  1. [i meant to add to hazer's comments but must have hit the wrong button.] anyhoooo, ... and, the running game was on, the defense was on, Meyer/Blythe never got much of a chance to do anything because NU had the ball all the time. Maybe what you're (not you hazer) saying is BC should have given ISU a chance to get their passing game going by giving up TOP.
  2. I felt like that at first, but if you can run the ball down your opponent't throat, keep it out of the hands of a good passing quarterback who has a good receiver and win all at the same time, well.....that's hard to question. I'll take a 28 to 14 win over a 42 to 38 point loss! To backs over 100 again! GBR. GBR
  3. ZT has been looking good. I think NU will do some scoring. I'm not sure what to think about our defense. Maybe they'll show up.
  4. Rivals is reporting that O practiced on Tuesday but that BC held him out on Wednesday.
  5. Let 'em have their fun. Their defense will soon be crapping footballs.
  6. Strange excuse to say the least. I thought sports was all about entertaining the fans. I would hope the fans would be enthusiastic.
  7. The cartoon seems to be criticizing NU fans for celebrating the injury of a KU player and KU fans mocking their coach. I don't disagree with that. Thoughtless at best.
  8. NUTS. ASU screwed Keller. How could they expect him to stay? He could have stayed on the team and sat on the bench the whole season too. IMHO Keller ought to not even look back, no regrets. He ought to be focused on the present and his goals for next year. If he's got the right stuff everyone will know it. If he's mediocre next year he never would have made it in the NFL anyway. This guy wants Keller to sit around and wait for twists of fate. Phooey, let ASU do their own soap opera thing. Keller will create his own opportunities.
  9. That would be soooo unbearable. They'd better win.
  10. Yes, sorry, Howard Stewart Mandel. I forgot that he went by Stewart.
  11. "The Huskers are quickly becoming this year's least predictable team. One week they annihilate a Troy team that had tested both Florida State and Georgia Tech, the next week they blow a 17-0 lead and surrender 574 yards to a Kansas team that had scored 13 on USF the week before. " -- Howard Mandel I know you guys can't stand HM but I find this statment hard to disagree with. My intial thought for this year was that the key to this season was greater consitency. Last year the D line was awsome and the offense showed some signs of excellence. I thought this year we would put those things together and be outstanding. That's still possible, but I'm beginning to wonder if the results so far may tell a different story. I guess the next month will tell us a whole lot more.
  12. They're not going to "take shots" and they're not going to be "held back." They'll be taking care of business and if that means putting JF on his can then I hope it happens a lot. JF is not worth the extra focus/effort of being vindictive. I would hope the coaches and team are over him long ago. Now the fans are another story.
  13. The data is for students entering school between 1996 and 1999 so BC wouldn't have had much impact either way. Kudos to NU though. GBR
  14. I've gotten lost in the new editing features. Anyway, I was trying to repspond to the guy who said he didn't know much about Keller. Before he was injured there was talk of him being in the mix for Heisman. The dude is very good. If he fits in well the 'skers should be awsome under his leadership.
  15. I hope Troy gives us their best shot. Then again, I hope we pulverize them.
  16. If the team is even half as obsessed about the USC loss as this board is, we've lost to Troy already. USC was just one minor disappointing bump in the road that all the wailing and nashing of teath in the world will never change now. It's way past time to GET DOWN TO BUSINESS!! GBR
  17. ...and if one can't loosen up that pass defense with the run your toast, right? So, me thinks the problem Saturday night was not so much a flawed plan as an inability to execute the plan. (I AM NOT SAYING WE DIDN'T PLAY HARD OR W/O HEART) I think we didn't accomplish what we intended. Once one commits to a particular type of offense and a game plan it's not easy, and not usually a great idea to get away from that plan. I recall more than a few Husker games under TO where opponents got our option attack off balance and we looked pretty poor.
  18. What would you like to have seen? Keep in mind, in your offensive game planning, that USC will drop 8 people into coverage routinely. I would have like to have seen more passing too, but I would have hated to see what the score was if Taylor throws a few INT's.... how many times did we throw on 1st down? out of a possible? hunter Not many, but I'm not getting your point. Was there a strategic/technical reason (besides BC being afraid to loose big) that we did not or or could not pass more? For example, was USC's defense doing something that kept our offense off balance for much of the game? ZT can't just throw the rock and call a prayer meeting. It doesn't work that way, or at least it never did for me.
