  1. Thank You Thank You I am officially middle aged. I am soooooo excited. Someone get me a Porche please!!!
  2. You could always says that he has RESIGNED himself to stay until the end of the season.
  3. Facilities are about equal at both schools. Tradition, depends on how you define it, tradition of winning championships, Nebraska has a big edge but I don't think that matters to an incoming coach. Fan support, Nebraska has the edge because of the tradition of sell outs, A&M has a huge number of rabid fans but they don't sell out every single game. A&M has the edge in two things that are appealing to a coach, as mentioned above the Aggies are recruiting Texas high schools which is a double edged sword because you have the Horns, Sooners and LSU also going up against you when you go for the five star recruits and A&M loses some of those battles. The other edge is in money. However deep you think the pockets are at Nebraska they are deeper at A&M and those people will spend ANYTHING to win football games (and to beat Texas). Unless you are down here you have no idea about how bad the Aggies want to do everything better than Texas and will stop at nothing to do it. It's kind of crazy.
  4. The only place for Fran and Callahan is the unemployment line counting their buyout money. They don't need to be ruining another legendary college program.
  5. Having been in the playoffs both in Division 2 and 1-AA following Texas State I can say I love the atmosphere of the whole system. Here is how 1-AA does it. There are automatic bids (conference champions) and four "at large" bids for teams that are highly ranked but didn't win conference. I would think the same thing could work for 1-A and would allow the smaller conferences to get in there and compete with the big boys. That's probably one reason there isn't a playoff system however, I don't think some of the big boys want to share their money and recruits with the little guys of 1-A.
  6. There is also a lot of talk on the SMU board that Gill will be a candidate over there. He is from Ft. Worth and at one time was a position coach at SMU. It seems to me that size of a program would be a better fit for him at this point in his career and the facilities they have and are building at SMU are some of the best in the country which will help him recruit in a talent rich environment.
  7. If I am remembering what he said he was told that before Osborne was hired and said at his news conference that no changes would be made in the coaching staff until after the season. I think once Osborne said that at the news conference that trumped the information that IBR was given before all of that happened. You guys are lucky to have someone with as much inside information as IBR gets. I would say his or her sources are really good.
  8. Texas has been doing that pretty much all season. They have a package of plays for this team of red-shirt and true freshmen and they try to get them into every game if they can so they can built experience for next year. They are rotated in and out so this is not a reflection on Nebraska, Mack is going to try to do this with everyone Texas plays. Oh and Cosgrove was the guest coach for the Lady Huskers, that was the problem, no defense.
  9. Ron Franklin is a good one. Lives here in Austin but not a UT homer, calls it like it is. He used to do the ESPN Prime Time game before it was moved to ABC.
  10. Although there were games every season that made me scratch my head I really thought the progress would continue this year. A couple of Alamo Bowls, move up to Big 12 championship game and Cotton Bowl last season, I figured Big 12 Championship game for sure again this year until I saw the Wake game and I figured something was wrong and then listened to the Ball State game and knew something was wrong. I know both of those games were wins but when your team performs badly in games you are supposed to win big I think that tells you more about problems then getting blown out by USC which in a way some could understand.
  11. The Royal thing is a joke of course. Most of them really want Mike Singletary to come back and coach. I think Royal is 84 now or something like that. He still looks good for his age and gets around really well and plays golf like nobody's business.
  12. Well I hope YOU were drunk when you were there. Hard to take sober.
  13. Just read this little thread over on their board. http://www.baylorfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135057 Some guy posted on there that Singletary was still in the mix to be their new coach if Morriss is fired and that the people over there planned to pursue Callehan if (WHEN) he gets the axe. Then everyone went nuts.
  14. Nevada is a 1-A, but it doesn't matter because a 1-AA win would count towards a bowl too. Only if it were the Alamo Bowl, I could trade my Big 12 Championship tickets, but other than that no.
  15. That would be interesting, give the head coaching job to the quarterback that ended Osborne's home winning streak when he was at Texas.
  16. Thanks for posting it up. I had just found that too on YouTube and was about to come back with the link.
  17. I have 40 yardline seats to the Big 12 championship game in San Antonio on what I thought would be the Nebraska side. That's how I thought this season would go.
  18. So has anyone posted the new tunnel walk anywhere. Would love to see it.
  19. Dude that's pretty technical. Ummmm all of that QB and RB and man on line and pitching. Ummmmmm just don't get it.....sorry man.
  20. This is a pretty interesting discussion. Recruiting wise I would give the edge to Fran but he has more fertile ground to recruit from. Game day coaching before this season I would have given to Cally but not anymore, I don't think either one can manage a game anymore. The really interesting thing about tomrrow's game is you have the A&M offense that can't pass but can run all day and a Nebraska defense that can't stop the run. On the other side you have a Nebraska offense that passes a little better than it runs and an Aggie defense that can't stop the pass. It could be 110-109 by the end of the game. As far as the comment about Fran returning to 1-AA, well we already had him and I for one don't want him back, but thanks for caring.
  21. I don't think they should have given him a ticket. He was just spreading the word by Baptizing the bar. http://www.wacotrib.com/news/content/news/...bucoachweb.html A Baylor University assistant football coach was cited early Sunday after he allegedly urinated on the bar at Scruffy Murphy’s, a Waco bar frequented by Baylor students. Waco Police Department spokesman Steve Anderson said that Eric Schnupp, Baylor’s offensive line/tight ends coach, was issued a citation at 2:20 a.m. for disorderly conduct-reckless exposure, a misdemeanor. Danny Severe, a bartender at Scruffy Murphy’s, 1226 Speight Ave., said the incident happened around closing time as employees were getting people out of the bar. Schnupp had been drinking for a couple hours, Severe said, when an employee saw Schnupp urinating on one end of the bar. Police officers were already at the bar for an unrelated incident, Severe said. “While we were kicking everybody out, he apparently thought that nobody was looking and whipped it out and (urinated) on the bar,” Severe said. “He tried to deny it, but there was definitely a puddle and there was no one else around him.” Severe said that Schnupp got a ride home after police issued the citation. Schnupp is in his first year as part of Baylor’s coaching staff. He played at the University of Miami from 1995-2000 and previously coached at West Texas A&M University. Baylor athletics director Ian McCaw said on Monday afternoon that he and head football coach Guy Morriss are discussing whether or not Schnupp will face any penalties from the school. Assistant athletics director Nick Joos said Monday morning that Baylor coaches and officials were not aware of the incident before the Tribune-Herald called for comment. On Saturday afternoon, Schnupp traveled with the Baylor football team to Lawrence, Kan., where the Bears were defeated by the Jayhawks, 58-10. Editor’s note: Tim Woods works part time at Scruffy Murphy’s but was not present during the incident. twoods@wacotrib.com
  22. The 5-2 only works when you have corners with the speed to do man coverage correctly. We changed our defense this year to a man coverage instead of a zone counting on putting pressure on the QB to stop the pass. Last night we lost 63-21 and put the opposing QB on Sportcenter as the number one play of the day for burning us for SEVEN td passes. Be careful what you wish for, it could always get worse believe me.
  23. They talked to me about it but withdrew their offer when I told them I could only coach the wish-bone.
  24. I didn't think Callahan had a buyout provision in his new contract anyway.
  25. I sure hope they do because I want to use my Big 12 Chamionship game tickets instead of selling them.
