  1. I have been holding this info. for awhile as I did not want it to impact this kid's recruitment. I have a source that is close enough to the Mohler situation that gave me the following awhile ago. Take this for what it is worth...I don't have any reason to believe this source would make this up... First, apparently Mohler committed to NU because BC guaranteed that he would be a starting LB, apparently NU was the only one to make that guarantee so Mohler committed to us. When I heard this I was pretty surprised because I would not think any coach would guarantee a player a starting job. If BC was doing this, I don't like it...starting jobs should be earned not just handed to you to get you to committ. Does anyone else know if this is common practice in recruiting? Second, apparently Mohler's grandfather is a heavy influence in his life and liked BC...apparently he was not happy with the way the fanbase was making jokes at BC's expense that were found easily on the internet. In the end, this had a negative impact in recruiting Mohler to NU. I held this info. because I wanted to see what would happen to Mohler after Pelini visited him. My guess is Pelini made no guarantees about automatically starting at NU, which is the way it should be. In the end, Mohler (I'm guessing without a guarantee of starting anymore at NU) had to go to a school where he thought he had best chance to play. I can't fault him for that and I will be interested to see if he starts at CU. From what I heard, Mohler is a great kid...good luck to him at CU. I am sure we will find other LB's for this class.
  2. I have edited his 40 time as Rivals has upgraded him from a 5.38 to 5.32. At least he is getting faster.
  3. Latest linky: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/708109.html He appears gone. Perhaps Bo will give him a look but I have heard nothing about trying to get him back on board. I say we upgrade to Thompson! I am sure TO loves this guy's attitude.
  4. Scout is showing he will visit today, Dec. 7th. Can anyone confirm?
  5. Latest video: http://www.rivals.com/video.asp?sid=1014&a...mp;vidid=115147 He has picked up an offer from Tennessee and remains interested in NU. Let's take a look at this kid!
  6. Linky: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/708082.html Stanford has slight lead. Says he likes us but has questions. Hearing from Joe Rudolph who says will remain with staff. Has yet to hear from Bo or TO... "Right now Stanford is my top choice, but Utah and Nebraska are close and I want to take some time and see what happens at Nebraska and what they have to say."
  7. Player: Jamaar Jarrett Hometown: San Marcos, CA Position: DE Height: 6'6" Weight: 238 lbs. 40 time: 5.32 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Colorado, Michigan, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, Washington State, Ole Miss, Boise State Favorites: perhaps Michigan Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Bid Red Report: Assessing the talent: Nice prospect with interest from lots of schools. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 15% This is the type of recruit I feel Bo could make a difference. At one time Jarrett had us in his favorites but seems wide open at this point. Michigan is coachless and we just hired the top defensive mind in the game. Video: This is more a less a feature on his HS team with a spotlight on him. Video says he is 260 lbs.
  8. Thompson visited Oregon last weekend. Anyone know if Bo had the chance to visit him in CA? Bo was out there and visited with Kuli.
  9. Has committed to Colorado.
  10. Has committed to North Carolina.
  11. If we play 4 non-conference games per year I'd like to see 2 of those game vs. other BCS conference teams (we did it in 2002 with Arizona St. and Penn St., 2004 with Pitt and Wake Forest, this year with USC and Wake Forest). I don't think we should ever schedule Div 1AA and am not thrilled with the South Dakota St. selection for 2010. Here are teams I'd like to see... Big 10 - Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois Pac 10 - just did USC, I like the UCLA and Washington selections upcoming so good here SEC - LSU, Alabama, Arkansas ACC - Miami, Clemson, I like VA Tech upcoming Big East - Louisville, Rutgers, West Virginia Independent - Notre Dame
  12. I don't see why you would even have a final meeting for the players with Callahan. If he's bitter, it just gives him a chance to cause some dissension. Even if he's not, it could lead to the players rationalizing what really wasn't a very good performance by them this year. Likewise with a public statement. No need for one, what would it accomplish, for anyone, unless he felt that Osborne unfairly characterized the reasons for dismissal. Just walking away quietly is the professional thing to do, and that's exactly what Callahan has done. I think everyone could use a bit of self-reflection to decide what they could've done better, and then look forward to the future, and don't keep looking back. "Everyone" includes the fans too. I can see your point with the players. As for making a public statement, I think he should have done this and gone out gracefully. Karl Dorrell just did it today at UCLA and even Pud made a nice statement...BC should have made a professional statement...would have brought closure to all of this in a good way. Maybe because he did not make a statement we can assume he is bitter? If that is the case, then that is somewhat sad.
  13. I was wondering what happened to Callahan myself. Was there any report on a final meeting with the players after he was let go? Was he seen leaving his offices? Did he make any public statement? Seemed to just disappear. Thought he would at least send out a statement or something...did I miss it? I know BC and his staff wanted to win and tried greatly to do so while they were here. I am sure they will move to thier next positions/jobs just fine. I do wish them well and thanks for their efforts.
  14. The salt water fish tank was classic. Very clever.
  15. Kirk Ferentz or Brian Kelly from what I hear.
  16. We should be in the mix for James. TCU is pushing hard. Okafor and James would be two quality backs for this class. Still hope Gray will reconsider but that seems to have been quiet for awhile now. Excited as new coach will bring excitement back to the recruiting forum!
  17. Has committed to Boston College.
  18. Here is a recruit that I think would give NU a better look if Pelini becomes coach. His two leaders (Ole Miss and LSU) are both going through coaching changes. Would be wise to have him come visit.
  19. I wonder if this is a kid that would visit NU if Pelini becomes coach. He had lots of interest in LSU before but as we know Pelini and Miles both are likely not at LSU next season. I'd start recruiting Clement again.
