  1. Chiefs Unveil The New Arrowhead Aug 15, 2007, 11:20:00 AM Hunt family contributes additional $50 million Game days at Arrowhead Stadium will soon provide an even greater experience for fans visiting this legendary sporting venue. Today, the Kansas City Chiefs gave the public its first look at the stunning improvements to The New Arrowhead Stadium during an unveiling ceremony. Chiefs Chairman of the Board Clark Hunt and President, General Manager and Chief Executive Officcer Carl Peterson, as well as Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders, Jackson County Legislative Chairman Dan Tarwater and representatives of the architectural firm HOK Sport, were on hand at the Arrowhead Club to announce the unveiling of the design for The New Arrowhead Stadium, which Jackson County voters approved in 2006. “We’re excited to unveil for the citizens of Jackson County, metro area residents and every Chiefs fan ‘The New Arrowhead Stadium,’” Sanders said. “The taxpayers kept their part of the bargain, and you’ll see today that the Kansas City Chiefs have delivered on their promise to modernize Arrowhead Stadium and, along with the Hunt family, remain committed to Kansas City. “Sanders announced an additional $50 million contribution from the Hunt family.” I think it is now apparent to everyone that the Hunt Family’s commitment to Jackson County and the entire community is being taken to a new level,” Sanders said. The contribution raises the family’s total investment in the project to $125 million. “While the modernization, as required by our agreement with Jackson County, could have been achieved within the original $325 million budget, we felt that to ‘get it right,’ it was important to go beyond what was required to ensure that Arrowhead remains one of the greatest stadiums in the NFL for decades to come,” Hunt said. “The New Arrowhead” will give fans a greater variety of experiences beyond the on-field action. Stadium improvements include concourses that will be nearly doubled in size, allowing fans to get to their seats – and back to the action on the field – in less time; more restrooms; a greater variety of food and beverages to enjoy; a broad range of bars, concessions and seating areas within the concourses; and club lounge spaces to enjoy with family and friends. Other additions will feature an upgraded sound system, new video board displays - including a 360 degree ribbon board around the lower fascia of the stadium - a new press box, and a new group seating area - the Horizon Level. The improvements also call for a Chiefs’ Hall of Fame – The Hall of Honor - and an expanded team store. “The Hall of Honor will be a lasting monument to all the great Chiefs players, coaches and administrators who have helped build this storied franchise over the years, but especially to the late Lamar Hunt,” Peterson said. “The Hall will be, in football folklore, sacred ground for Chiefs fans who have supported this team throughout its history.” “Our ultimate goal is to enhance the Arrowhead experience for Chiefs fans,” Peterson said. “These improvements will add even more excitement and emotion to the legendary atmosphere that places Arrowhead in the highest echelon of NFL stadiums, while remaining, in our opponents’ eyes, one of the loudest and most feared places to play in the league.” The Horizon Level is designed to give fans in the upper level a coach’s view of the game. The south side will rise above the original Arrowhead bowl and will feature new concessions and bathroom facilities for patrons at the rear of upper deck seating; cabaret, suite and premium seating; additional provisions for disabled patrons; and an expanded press box area for coaches and media. The north side is the sunny side, providing warmth to fans on cool days. The suites will increase in size and be reconstructed to create an upscale environment with all the features expected in today’s professional sport venue. They will give patrons an unobstructed view of the field, as well as unparalleled luxury and service. In addition, the suite walls will be shift ed to eliminate structural columns from obstructing the view to the field from the suite interior. “Arrowhead Stadium, with its swooping sculptural forms, is a revered icon,” said Dennis Wellner, HOK Sport’s lead architect for the stadium renovations. “The challenge has been to sensitively integrate all of the attributes and current trends that we would normally include in a new NFL stadium into “The New Arrowhead,” which respects tradition and continues its use of contemporary materials to create a bold, new form.” * * * * * Link to pics.
  2. I've always had trouble finding them, it's hit and miss one store will have the NFL one and another one with have the college one. I like to have one of each to refer to during the season and on into the future. I have them dating back to 1996 and I find myself digging them out for one reason or another fairly often.
  3. I don't even know what those things mean. That means that the person posting those has no intelligent comeback to refute your opinion. You don't want to start with me junior because we all think the same thing about you!!!! Just check the woodshed!!!! Between the two of you the negativity is freakin ridiculous. If you want to be negative fans and try and ruin everyone else's hopes go to some other board where your kind is accepted!!!! I disagree with both of you. Obviously you don't know the first thing about football if you think we haven't gotten better!!!! Our recruiting is better and you can't just turn a program around overnight especially when you have recruits that were recruited for one system and then you come out and change it to another system. It's hard to change a team from Option to WCO. Obviously you two don't know that so do us all a favor and just leave!!!! Don't change your opinion either when BC starts winning Championships!!!!! Although I see your point, I don't see why we need to start asking Huskerboard members to leave. No matter how negative or rediculous their postings may be, they are entitled to their opinions...until they cross lines and the Mods deem it so. And I'm entitled to my opinion as well!!! I'm tired of negative nancy's blocking out the fact that we are getting better every year that goes by and just because things aren't moving as fast as they would like they are going to talk a bunch of crap about the coach!!!! Let's just fire him so we can start all over and make all of them happy!!!! I've never disputed the fact that we've gotten better every year since Callahan's first season.
  4. I stepped in some Mark May when I was mowing the lawn yesterday.
  5. Please tell me you are kidding and forgot to insert the Sarcasm thingy. Nebraska will never ever compete with Coach Callahan at the helm? Whatever dude...I beg to differ and so do a lot of others I'm thinking. Coach Callahan and his staff have shown more grit, determination, freakin emotion, knowledge, passion, hard work, dedication than I have seen in many years at Nebraska. God what a Debbie Downer you are.... No kidding huskerdude, how dare you bring those facts to the table. Now in order to cheer ourselves up after you brought us down, let's all sing a song together! Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together, Brighter than a lucky penny, When you're near the rain cloud disappears, dear, And I feel so fine just to know that you are mine. My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, That's how this refrain goes, so come on, join in everybody! Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, Everything that's wonderful is sure to come your way When you're in love to stay. Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, Everything that's wonderful is sure to come your way 'Cause you're in love, you're in love, And love is here to stay!
  6. Orton went to Purdue. He is still with the Chicago Bears. Aww crap, I had Notre Dame on the brain from the thread starter. I stand corrected.
  7. I could see K-State as a dark horse, but KU??? Somebody's been hitting the crack pipe. Never underestimate Visor Bob.
  8. I remember hearing an interview with him on the radio a couple years ago (probably about the time this thread was originally created). He said he would've loved to play for NU but he wasn't an option QB so he didn't pursue it, and was bummed when we changed to a passing offense shortly after he went to ND.
  9. I think you all know how I feel. (ducking)
  10. I remember one time listening to Mark May call an NFL game on CBS, I wanted to reach thru the TV and choke the guy. He never shuts up.
  11. Be discreet with your booze. The Lincoln PD actually ticketed Brent Musburger last year for having an open container in a car. Most people just pour it into a plastic cup. I hope you have a good time up here.
  12. Why? Because his opinion differs from yours? If you want a message board that runs off everyone who doesn't stay in lock-step formation, shoot me a PM and I'll give you a link.
  13. Lighten up, Frances. God forbid someone has an opinion that's not in line with yours. I can't speak for OPB, but personally, I'm not here to ruin everyone else's hopes. I'm simply stating my opinions, I'm not by any means telling anyone else what to think.
  14. In a word, no. 4-5 losses wouldn't surprise me. Why? Ummm....because that's been the trend since Callahan was hired? Are you willing to acknowlege any improvement year over year since BC took over? Well sure, but gee whiz he set the bar pretty low for himself. I'll give him minimal credit for what he's done. He sure as heck hasn't proved that he's better than the guy he replaced.
  15. Well, we couldn't beat them in our house, so what makes you think we can win in Austin?
  16. In a word, no. 4-5 losses wouldn't surprise me. Why? Ummm....because that's been the trend since Callahan was hired? I don't even know what those things mean.
  17. Hey now, I'm the resident pessimist here, so knock it off!

  19. In a word, no. 4-5 losses wouldn't surprise me.
  20. Thank you. Smoking bans in bars are complete bullsh*t and are just another example of "feel-good" legislation. You're right. Not smoking or being in a smoke filled room does make most people feel good. Does it ever get lonely up there on that pedestal you put yourself on?
  21. Well you never know when it comes from the internet, but supposedly the pic was taken at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland.
  22. The TVs at every table that the IceHouse has is the greatest idea ever. Thank you. Smoking bans in bars are complete bullsh*t and are just another example of "feel-good" legislation.
  23. That's part of the problem, I'm always hearing how great we "will be". The current administration just sells the future now, and sheep people like you eat it up. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for the current coach to prove he is better than the guy he replaced, and that hasn't happened yet.
  24. Meh, .097 wasn't even over the limit until a few years ago and the only reason it is now is because of feel-good legislation. Nevertheless, he's a minor and it's his second incident. Not good.
