  1. The Husker defense looks improved from last year and Suh is playing like the player we all knew he was. The Huskers have the potential to do some special things this year. A win in Columbia is possible. I think Gabbert will struggle against the blackshirts. I'm really looking forward to the game.
  2. With that said, Virginia Tech's offense is far from being good. Very average offense too be honest. What concerned me was the husker offense not being able to score a touchdown. That's unexcusable. Yes, Virginia Tech has a good defense, but good god, they're not great. The offense needs to improve. Hell, Bama scored a td on them, and bama doesn't have a great offense. That has to get better. And to give up the big play that late in the game is unacceptable. No way should Tyrod Taylor (of all people) be able to drive down the field for the winning score. The huskers have a lot to learn from this game. They have to improve before their trip to Columbia, because field goals won't beat MU. You're going to have to get in the end zone.
  3. The Miami Hurricanes will spank Georgia Tech next Thursday. Suddenly, Miami looks to be the favorite to win the ACC. Did anyone see their win against FSU? The U looked fast and strong on both sides of the ball.
  4. I would also add that the jury is still out on Nebraska's defense. Giving up 358 yards of total offense has to be a concern going into this game. Arkansas State is much better than FAU. Hopefully Bo will have those first game mistakes fixed. But hey, bend but don't break defenses win games to.
  5. I'm gonna go ahead and weigh in here. My cousin used to play tight end for Ark. State back during the late 90's into 2000. They didn't have much of a squad then, but the program has really progressed over these last 3 years. Nebraska better be ready for a challenge here. However, Arkansas State will not win the game, I see this being closer than alot of people on here are thinking. Prediction: NU 38 Ark. St. 24
  6. I hate to tell you this, but KU or NU is winnin' the North. I say 80% or better it is one of those 2 teams... Perhaps but I take into account the schedule as well as recent matchups over the last few years. Don't get me wrong I believe Kansas has a good team but let's look at your schedule: ISU-W at CU-L OU-L at Tech-L at KSU-W NU-W at UT-L MU-W That gives you a conference record of 4-4, now let me argue my points before you start chastising me. CU has played KU tough over the last few years with a talent disparity, CU is better this year if they are healthy, the game is in Boulder if it was in Lawrence I would reverse my pick(so it is not a homer pick). OU at home, you might play them tough and hope for an OU letdown but odds are against it, OU wins. At Tech, now this one I am willing to concede and flip flop but I do think the Raiders will have another QB that can throw for 400 yards and other receivers that will step up and catch footballs. I give you Nebraska even at this risk of being flamed since this is their board. At Texas, let's face it, even if the game is close and winnable, something will happen that causes you to go down in flames. Mizzou I will give you. Even if I reverse the Tech game that is still 5-3. Nebraska: at Mizzou-L Tech-W ISU-W at Baylor-W OU-L at KU-L KSU-W at CU-L So here comes the flames...lol At Mizzou, Mizzou loves to beat NU and they get to catch them early in the season when the only team they faced was Va Tech. OU at home will be generating a lot of buzz about the old times, but this isn't the old times, OU wins. At Kansas, already gave KU the nod. At CU, it took a miracle kick last year at home for NU to win against a decimated CU team, assuming that CU is healthy and considering that neither team is putting up long winning streaks against the other anymore, I pick CU. 4-4 Colorado: Texas-L KU-W at KSU-W Mizzou-L A&M-W at ISU-W at OSU-L NU-W 5-3 but since I am a CU guy, let's toss one win out and now we are 4-4 as well, remember I said a multi tie in the division, where I think at least 2 if not 3 teams might be split? Certainly I am no more qualified to pick these games then anyone else here and I have not flamed anyone so my post is reasonable for this site CU over KU and NU!?! LOL. Wow. Now that's delusional! Unless I missed something and Hawkins has put in a high flying attack, scoring 60 plus a game.....but I highly doubt that's the case. Before you personally attack me at least tell me how I am being delusional? I stated the evidence, even last year in Lawrence, CU was in the game with KU and CU is better and healthier at this point then they were last year. Second, do you deny that it took a monumental kick last year for Nebraska to beat CU in Lincoln? If Henry misses the kick we are taking knees, game set and match. Now I understand that you guys believe you are better then last year as well as I believe we are better, so I do not believe it to be delusional on my part to pick the home team in both of those matchups. I gave Mizzou the nod over us because quite honestly they have embarrassed the hell out of us the last few years, niether KU or NU has done that. I may be picking wrong, to be say that I am delusional without any evidence to back up that claim is shallow on your part. For starters, i didn't personally attack you. Thinking your Buffs will beat both KU and NU is very delusional. Why. Let's begin. For starters, you don't even know who your QB is going to be!!! Neither of these guys have shown any potential of being consistent as a starter. The second reason I think you're off on this is because if you remember the KU/CU game last year then you would recall how KU controlled the game from start to finish. Now, If my memory serves me....without looking it up here...KU won by 17 points? Something like that. However, the game was never in doubt for KU and I remember all of us going into halftime feeling really comfortable, even though the score was close. KU dominated both sides of the ball from start to finish. You have some pretty high hopes for a team that has yet to settle on a proven QB and a coach going into year 4 that has yet to prove ANY consistency in this conference. Plus you had a losing record last year and didn't go to a bowl. I would lower my expectations if I were you. Don't get mad at me, I have CU finishing 3rd in the North. That's a good step for CU.
  7. You're picking Kansas again to win the North this year? Man good luck. Cuz you'll have egg on your face if they dont. It didn't bother him last year when he said they'd go 10-2. Husker Josh is still mad at me because he got served in a debate we had last year. Speaking of....where's your predictions Josh? none? That's what I figured. Served? Are you 15? And are you kidding? You spent the preseason last year crowing about how KU was going to lose 2 games, I brought the thread up and you spent the rest of it backtracking and claiming it was a jest. My prediction for Nebraska is 9-3 with losses to Va Tech, OU, and one of the remaining conference teams (and it won't be Kansas). Still enough to win the North before the Colorado game. As much as you talk about Kansas on the "Husker Football" section of this board, they should tailor-make you a KU version of the Kool-Aid guy. It won't be Kansas huh Joshy boy? I'm going to go ahead and book mark this. In jest? I came clean and admitted my fault with my predictions last year. You just spent 4 months beating a dead horse, because you don't contribute anything to this board, and had nothing else better to say to me. Enjoy your seats in the peanut gallery my friend.

  10. You're picking Kansas again to win the North this year? Man good luck. Cuz you'll have egg on your face if they dont. If that's the case, I prefer my eggs over easy please.
  11. With all due respect to the huskers on here, no matter how you veiw it, KU and NU have 3-4 swing games that really could go either way. And to the poster talking about CU. I have CU at 3rd, not because I think they're great. It has to do with the fact that their schedule sets up nice for them and I'm not high on the other 3 in the division.
  12. Good questions Husker X. I've been hearing that Helu has gained 10-15 pounds of muscle and should be able to handle the toll of the tailback position better than last. I think that's key to a successful season. I agree with the media that the loss of Castille will hurt, but I don't think it will cost the team a game....or games......as some people in the media are stating. At the end of the day Castille was only 1 player...and I've heard some good things about these young kids behind him and can only imagine this as turning into a positive for the program in the long run from an experience standpoint. I think Nebraska's linebackers will be fine. Remember, good defensive line play will make ANY linebacking corp look good, and NU has arguably the best defensive line in the Big 12. I wouldn't be as concerned as people are. Turnovers.....who knows....alot of times it's how the ball bounces. I see Nebraska's defense getting more than the offense lets go of though.
  13. Before I get blasted for picking Baylor over Nebraska, let me go ahead and defende the pick: Now, don't get it twisted, but I do think Nebraska is better than Baylor...BUT the game is in Waco, and Baylor returns alot of experience on both sides of the football....I don't even need to mention their outstanding QB and linebackers. The reason I picked them is because they (Baylor) will look at this game as a make or break game. Heck, they (Baylor) even mentioned it on their Big 12 Preview show that they have this game circled and that if they can beat Nebraska it would secure their first bowl in years! For the record, I really did put my KU blinders to the side while pickng these games. I really went game by game and this is how it played out. I think Nebraska will beat MU to kick off the Big 12 season and I gave NU the nod over CU in Boulder and TT in Lincoln. I just don't like their trip to Baylor. I wouldn't pick KU over Baylor if my Hawks were going their. Just wanted to clear that up before the hate mails start flying my way!
  14. Alright kids, I'm gonna keep this shirt and sweet. Here is the final order of finish for the Big 12 North & South: North: Kansas 9-3 (5-3) Losses to Texas, OU and TT Nebraska 8-4 (5-3) Losses to VT, OU, KU & Baylor Colorado Missouri KSU Iowa State South: Texas OU OSU TT Baylor Texas A&M Here's to an exciting 2009 College Football Season! Enjoy!
  15. The KOOL-AID is ahh Flowing on this thread. WOW! LOL
  16. The loss of Castille hurts, but isn't a season killer by any means. It won't change your sport in the North. It's secure at 2nd. Behind Kansas at 1.
  17. They know (the powers that be) that Husker fans will pay the cash for PPV games. I really doubt they would make as much if KU was on ppv. It's all about dollars and cents!!
  18. Back on topic now, I think FLorida At. will give Nebraska a good game. I say the Huskers win by 17.
  19. Ha ha...you sound like Mussolini: "Drat...at some point we will be taking on the Soviets, the Brits and the USA during this damn war...so we'll start things off by beating the crap out of Ethiopia! That'll get us some respect!" KSU is playing teams who are, reasonably, playing on their level. KU is obviously not. The big difference is the KSU crowd is NOT crowing about their record and bowl games over the past two seasons and trying to convince football knowledgable fans that they are the real deal while the KU boosters obviously are. Now, I have nothing against that at all beings as I've been trying to convince anyone dumb enough to listen that ISU is going to run the table this year...and last year...and the year before that...but, then again, I've never tried to convince anybody that Southern Miss (or South Dakota State...or Army...or whatever other creampuff we happen to be playing during the non-conference season) is an opponent of any great football status (mainly because that would subject me to more than the usual ridicule when the DII or MAC school kicks ISU's ass every now and then). You want to schedule creampuffs? Fine...by all means go ahead...but don't try to convince anyone they are anything but creampuffs. That just makes you look like a tard. KSU is and will always be, the king school of scheduling cream puffs-see their non con schedules throughout Snyder's hayday! And trust me Cy, they wouldn't be playing UCLA if Snyder had anything to say about it. They backed out of their contract with Miami Fl this year and wanted out of UCLA's. I understand your points and respect your opinion, but you can't call Southern Miss a cream puff. They're of course not a powerhouse, or even a top 25 team, but they're a team that is decent. I agree that UTEP and Northern Col are a complete joke. But put yourself in Kansas's shoes. They've gone on the road against ranked teams in their non conference before and things NEVER work out well. Can you really blame them for scheduling a few fluffs??? With Texas, OU and TT on your schedule I can't.
  20. You didn't win this debate. You're far from it. You made up lies to try and win it. I never once stated KU was a powerhouse, nor did I say they were a top program. With the Big 12 slate KU plays, I think they have the right to play a few cream puffs-UTEP and Northern Col. However, back to the point, Southern Miss is better than you think and if you're going to call teams like UCLA, Illinois and Maryland "marque" games, then Southern Miss clearly fits that. Game, Set, Match, JGS30. So you're saying if we were a bad team then Southern Miss and Duke would look better? So KSUis playing a good team in UCLA because KSU is bad?
  21. My intentions were not in any way negative here guys. I was a big Lawrence Phillips fan in the 90's. He was one of the best pure talents I've ever seen at the RB position. The guy could flat out play. As I stated earlier, it was on sports center and I was shocked that they're still reporting stories on this guy. Maybe it's because the guy was so good and he has fallen so far. I think we can put this thread to rest.
  22. Can't say it's all that shocking. Nice sig by the way. Putting your prediction out there already, huh? Oklahoma and Texas are both losses...is the other one Nebraska? Yes Michael, I see you noticed KU's 2009 record. I will unfold my full rankings for the Big 12 North and South very soon. Perhaps this afternoon. They will be shocking. Many posters will be thrown off and surprised, but after many, many hourse examining the scheudle of the teams, I've come to the conclusion that KU will finish 9-3. Stay tuned for Nebraska's prediction.
  23. Don't kid yourself, VT has a great QB and a stable of running backs that will shoulder this loss. This is the kind of program that can absorb a tough loss like this. Last year VT's offense was pretty young and inexperienced and still managed to take care of business in Lincoln, even after losing Ore. I doubt they'll even be impacted this year either. They just get it done. But, it's still a shame for this kid and I hope he heals well and comes back stronger for next year. Although this is a big loss, they have back up after back up that can fill in and not miss a beat. Even in 2007 when KU played VTech in the Orange Bowl, Ore missed the first quarter, due to a team violation, and his back up was just as good. They're a strong program right now.
  24. Just saw on ESPN this morning that Lawrence Phillips is facing a possible 25 years in the joint for his toubles back in 2005 and some recent fellony charges. This is just sad. To think about how much talent this guy had, and to piss it all away. When I saw his name on the ESPN ticker, I was really hoping that it would be something positive about this guy.
